Booked the Queens Hotel back in...
1 / 10
Jul 2008, Mrs D Ogilvie-Lees

Booked the Queens Hotel back in February for me and my Husband to spend our wedding night and was told the Bridal Suite was already taken that day (fair enough) and was told that we would get the next best room in the Hotel. The Invoice said "Supeiror Room S/V (Sea View)"
When we arrived and 11:30pm to check and was given room 379... i had previously worked for the Queens hotel and knew that the all the Supeiror rooms were on the 1st floor not the third.
When i protested that they had the wrong room and that we shouldnt be on the 3rd floor i was told "there is a lift and there is nothing we can do about it madame"
I was very angry since i was standing in front of him in my wedding dress.
We got to the room and yes it was very nice, i thought we had been put into a family room as there was an extra door but when i opened it i realised it was a wheel in shower for disabled. it hadn't occured to me when we walked in the light switches were lower and the bright red emergency cord hanging directly above the bed.
We got changed and went back down stairs to check out, they then wanted to put us in another room but by that time i was extremely tired and just wanted to go home.
3 weeks later we received a meal voucher for their restaurant, but found out after that it was because my husbands bosses who paid for the room told them that they had to do something for us.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
It was rubbish when i worked there and even with the refurbishments its not a very nice hotel!

Southsea is a bustling town right on...

Southsea is a bustling town right on the sea front. The Queens Hotel is the perfect place to visit all the surrounding area. The hotel itself is grand looking and our room overlooked the sea which was lovely.
There are many places to visit and the old parts of Portsmouth and its naval history is a must. You can also nip across to the Isle of Wight on the Hovercraft (fairly cheaply) and the hover port is a five minute walk from the hotel. And if you have a head for heights then the new Millennium tower is excellent for the views across the Solent.
With much much more besides, Southsea is definitely a great place to visit!

WAW! What a view, I loved my stay at...

Jan 2007, Mr Mr Jones

WAW! What a view, I loved my stay at the queens and so did my wife.
Loving the Southsea beach and bars. Many of the bedrooms at the Queen's Hotel have been fully refurbished to a high 4 Star standard. Sea-facing rooms have spectacular views.
The Queen's Hotel, Portsmouth, has a prime location on Southsea's seafront looking out across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.
