Master Builders House Hotel

We managed to get 2 nights B&B at The Master Builders on Booking.com for £55 per night. It was a real bargain. Our room was in the Adams annexe and was very comfortable and well-equipped. The bed was huge and the dressing gowns and complementary vodka shots were a nice touch. After looking at the hotels web-site and looking at the pictures of the rooms on offer I booked a room as a surprise for my husbands birthday - on arrival we were checked into a room that was on a wing from the main hotel - I was livid - the room was tiny, the bathroom even smaller and the decor was c. 1980's - not at all like the pictures on their website and at £100 a night a complete rip-off - when I took it up with reception I was told they'd normally upgrade (confirming we're not the first to complain) but all of there nice rooms were... more

My wife and I recently stayed at The Master Builders at Bucklers Hard. When we booked we were told that the hotel had just re-opened after a refurbishment, but having read previous reviews we were slightly wary as there was a real mix of comments. Thankfully we were very impressed by the refurbishment which was stylish and sympathetic to the history of the building. The location on the edge of the River Beaulieu was a winner. This hotel was taken over by new owners towards the end of last year and closed for refurbishment. It be refurbished at the end of 2009. The bedrooms in the main building have all beenreopened at the beginning of April and is staffed by an enthusiastic team who go the extra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyable.
