All else overshadowed by the rudest manager you will ever find. I was given the key to a room that was still left unclean from the previous occupants. Upon 'complaining' I was accused of being moody by the manager (Clare). Atrocious hospitality.

We visited the Senspa for a pampering day and were extremely disappointed with it. We found the whole area quite dingy and cramped with only six loungers around the pool, with someone knocking the bottom of it everytime they walked past as there wasn't alot of room, the... more

We stayed at the hotel for our office Christmas Party. Having arrived at 1700 on a Saturday evening expecting to be able to get ready with time to spare there was NO hot water at all in our room. The duty manager took over an hour to arrive and confirm there was no water... more

Carey Manor is a spa hotel in the village of Brockenhurst in the New Forest. Brockenhurst is only an hour and a half train journey from London and makes an ideal place for a quick weekend getaway and the hotel is a pleasant five minute walk from the station. There are a... more

overpriced, terrible service
We were suprised by a night at Careys Mannor by our friends as a wedding present. When they called to confirm that it was OK that we arrive late (12am - our wedding night) they had lost our booking, dispite it being confirmed earlier that week, and booked for four months! So they managed to get us an alternative room sorted, and off we went. We arrived at around 12.30am, me in my wedding gown and my husband in his suit, and we did not even get a smile out of the night receptionist. The receptionist simply said 'name?', once we had given our name, it was 'credit card?' After explaining we would be paying cash he said 'credit card?' again, eventually he explained he needed it for potential room service orders. We finally finished signing in (still no smile or hello from any staff) and he just put our key on the counter, we had to ask to be shown to our room. He walked up the stairs ahead of us - when we got about half way, he realised he hadn't offered to carry our bags, so he asked us if we wanted him to, which by then there was not much point, so we declined his offer. We got to our room, and were really very disapointed, you could just about squeeze around the bed, the coffee making facilities were in the wardrobe, so we didn't even find them until we were due to check out. There was a tired looking armchair and we had a view out of one window of a brick wall. There was a large air conditioning machine taking up a lot of the only floor space in the room. The bathroom was a decent size, but it was carpeted - which is one of my pet hates. The whole room was very dated, and a bit fussy - certainly not worth £168 a night, being our first night as a married couple we would have expected to be treated in a slightly special way, but no - nothing at all, in fact, I didn't hear a please, thankyou, or hello the whole time we were there. Someone needs to tell the hotel that manners don't cost anything. Breakfast was nice, good locally produced food, and plenty of it - again the service was something to be desired. We certainly will not be returning to Careys mannor or reccomending it to any of our friends!
Glorified Trust House Forte!
We stayed for one night at Carey's Manor and found it a great disappointment. The best thing is the location and I would strongly recommend a drive or walk through Rhinefield where the forest is beatiful, with enormous redwoods near rhinefield house. Carey's manor was a big let down. Our room had no character at all and just looked like a glorified Trust House Forte. At almost £180 for the night we were expecting a lot more. The pool was ok, however crowded and the dining hall very unspectactular. Everything in the hotel was a rip off too. £15 or so for a room service omlette, oh please!! I advise staying at one of the many charming b&b's in the area. Loads more character and does not break the bank!!
