Balmer Lawn Hotel

We stayed here for one night paying £80 for a double room on B&B rate. We were given Room 37 which although quite small overlooks the outdoor pool. The pool was absolutely gorgeous and I believe it is quite new. The temperature of the water made it the warmest outdoor pool that we have ever experienced. That evening we ate at Blaireau's which is a short walk away at Carey's Manor - excellent french food and most attentive service. I was staying at this hotel as I was attending a wedding celebration also held at the hotel, and there was nothing else suitable in the area. I was warned when making the booking that there would be an event on the night that I was staying and that there would be music until midnight, but it wasn't clear at that point that my room would be immediately above the noise and that it would be quite so loud. And it was extremely, unbearably loud - sleeping during the music was simply not an option, and even watching tv was a struggle. I can't... more

We booked a family room but were given a double room with camp beds that made it impossible to move around without bruising, or use the wardrobe which was blocked by the camp beds. Bathroom was mouldy and shower fell apart each time we tried to use it. Service at breakfast was poor including menu items left on hotplates to congeal and cold plates to serve it onto. Just got back from a long weekend my wife at the Balmer Lawn Hotel. Before setting off, I was slightly apprehensive after reading the last two reviews, since I’d already booked and paid my deposit, but fortunately our experience was rather different. We’d booked a forest view room, discounted on the internet, and found it to be spacious, well decorated and equipped with a LCD TV. Bathroom was spotless with an excellent shower!
