We have just got back from Salou Suites. After reading the reviews before we went, we were quite worried about what we were going to find on arrival to our appartment. We requested a pool view because that was what was advised. We were on the first floor so didn't need to use the lifts. Our room was clean and basic which is all we wanted. We had clean towels on arrival and they were changed halfway through the week. We provided our own toilet roll. There were no appliances apart from a cooker i.e. no kettle. We didn't ask about it but I assume you could hire one. You could go out and have tea and biscuits for about 2euros if you really wanted to. The air conditioning worked fine. There is a broom and mop etc on the balcony if you want to clean your room while you're there (there are no maids).
The resort itself was lovely and clean though a little busy. The beach is huge but it is very busy. We didn't have a problem finding a space though and you could hire a sunbed all day for 4euros. There are plently of restaurants and bars. We chose to eat at Jacks (just around the corner from the hotel) which was nice and reasonably priced.
We had no trouble at all with noise of a night. Infact. the hotel was quite quiet. The pool area was quite small with only a few sunbeds but we still didn't have trouble getting one even in the mid afternoon.
There was a deposit of 50euros to pay on arrival.
All in all, we had a great holiday and would happily stay at the salou suites again. I think some people are too fussy!!

My boyfriend and I are just back from these apartments, I would not recommend anyone to stay here. The apartments are noisy, not clean and the walls are like paper. There was a lot of noise at night, you wont get much sleep if you plan to stay here. If you want a kettle, toaster, T.V etc. you have to rent them. The staff are not very helpful at all every day I walked though reception there was people complaining about how dirty the apartment was, there was one lady complained about dirty towels and sheets. If you are travelling with children don’t stay here they will get no sleep. I wont be staying here again.

Salou was just the best place I ever went on holidays. We booked at last minute an was put in the Salou Suites. We were told that there wasn't any air conditioning, which there was but it wasn't great. The staff were lovely and the entertainment was brill. thanks too Sally. The place was full of Irish people which made the holiday even better. The appartments were basic but clean. Very Very noisy when your facing the street. The food was horrible. Go too the Irish and English bars for food. The swimming pool fairly small. The appartments are central and close to everything. Watch out for your belongings and the people that work in the shops near it they be very annoying and very noisy.
Portaventura is unreal but its torture queeing for rides when its 40 degress... water park way more appropiate
it was a brill holiday tho and I heading back this summer to The "Salou Pacific" instead cant wait :)

I arrived at the Salou Suites on Saturday the 10th October 2009. First impression was ok, staff were friendly although all male on arrival. Checked in, and was asked for a deposit of €50 which was then chucked in to an unlocked drawer along with other deposits. We were given our room key - 6th Floor! Rooms were very basic .. overlooking onto the street, very noisy at night. Beds were so uncomfortable that we had to sleep on the sofa beds in the living area! Bedroom window did not lock, and curtains were very dirty. Cutlery, plates, glasses etc not the cleanest. Bins had to be emptied by us, and taken out to the skips. Toilet roll was not supplied throughout the whole week, was told we had to supply our own. No clean towels were supplied either for the whole time we were there! Because of my age, being young i had to put up with this but seeing that there was large families with kids having no clean towels supplied, i thought that this was unacceptable. Swimming pool was quite small, sunbeds are very uncomfortable. as i was walking around the pool area i got glass in my foot as there were bits of broken glass everywhere. there was also no lifeguard on duty for kids at the pool. Pool area was shaded quite a bit and only got the sun 3-4 hours max. Restaraunts and bars away from the Salou Suites were good, food was brilliant but drinks were dear. Lots of proppers on the street, constantly at you to go in for a meal or to go in for a look in the shop. I paid very cheep for this holiday but was exepecting a wee bit more effort in to the apartments.
I am warning you do not go in Salou Suites because it is bad bad and bad!

salou suite is an appartment suitable for young couples who stay up all hours or for groups of young adults 18 to 26 .staff friendly and food okay . entertainment ok when not smutty if you have children .bar area is okay but beware of falling over the floor which is ripped up in areas .a lot of unhappy families when i was there due to the small and filthy appartments and also due to the noise level on street up to 7am in mornings.i stayed there for a week and was awokened one night to the violent row fight on the stairs leading to the appartment floor.smell of raw sewerage at poolside .on the plus side good nearby beaches and restaurants .just be aware if you have children stay away from salou suite appartments . you have been warned.

Was worried after reading some reviews, but was not as bad as we feared. we booked because we wanted 4 nights in salou and the price was very cheap. The apartment was basic but we had all we needed. Kettle, Oven, knives and forks. Beds was very comfortable. We had 2 bedroom apartmernt, all 2 bedded apts face the street so can be noisy, but as we went in november is was quieter than it is in summer. Staff all very friendly and helpfull. We would not hesitate to stay at the Salou Suites again. It is not the ritz, you get what you pay for. Only paid deposit of 20 euros on arrival

I too am just back from these apt 2 days ago (Tues 16th to Tues 23rd) and have to disagree with the last post. We had a great time the reception staff, day time entertainer and bar staff where great. Me and my gf asked for a pool view and had to say I got a good nights sleep every night. I would reccomend you try and get to that side of these aprtmnts.
The aptmnts are in a great location if you want to be close to the beach, bars and transport. I won 100 euro in Bingo on the second day there and now im addicted to it and im only 20 years old haha!
You get clean towels every second day which did not faze us at all & you are given very good equipment on your balcony to clean the place if you want which only took two mins to do. I liked this as I like to do this myself rather than being disturbed by the maids everyday or them poking about for long periods while you are out. We had to buy or own toilet roll but a lot of places are like this now when you go self-catering and this also did not bother me to much for the price i paid to go here in the first place.
There are a lot of very good bars I was in Christy's and we found it okay, The Gabbles (Weatherspoons) on the main strip from the aprtmnts is brilliant and goes on into the night if your looking the bar experience rather than roudy night clubs. Scots Corner is good aswell as to the Guiness Tavern for food is unique in many ways.
All in all if you are not to particular you will find this hotel spot on and you do not have to walk far to get places. I would recomend it if you get it at a good price.
Its what you make it!

I am just back from Salou 2 days, we had a good holiday in Salou itself. Salou Suite apts are absolutly filty. They are the grubbiest apts i have ever stayed in & they are in desperate need of a make over. The curtains on the sliding doors have not been cleaned since they were put up & they was no cleaning done to our apt for the whole week. We arrived Mon & on Thur we got clean towels, by sunday we had the same towels, so i went to reception for clean towels & was told the towels are changed every second day, which wasnt the case. I asked about the apt been cleaned & was told its self catering so the apts are only cleaned once a week. On the thur when we got clean towels i asked the maid for toilet paper & was told there was none, so we had to buy our own. Also the pool & pool area is very small & the pool is in the shade for most of the day, we went to another apts pool area every day. Also the apts face out onto the main road which is very noisy from heavy traffic & drunken people late at night, its very hard to sleep. I have nothing good to say about Salou Suites at all & i would rather not go away then stay in these apts again & would recommend anyone to NEVER stay here. If going to Salou give Christy's Irish Bar a visit great craic!!!!!

just returned from salou suite. Booked through budget for one week. The apartments were quite outdated. I found the apartment disgusting, very very dirty. Dust from maybe a year ago, filthy curtains finger marks all over them and above my bed same. Pillows filthy. Room not done all week it would not have made a difference anyway. Hole in the bathroom door and door frame hanging off. I found the staff very nice on reception and they took my remarks well, by their responce they did not seem surprised. I could not understand why they wanted breakage deposit from us this was the rule of Salou did not mind paying it. They had a bar and food downstair did not eat there because if the rooms they were setting out so bad and dirty what would their kitchen be like. Also I would think the pool has not been checked for germs etc. in a long time.
We did not use it. Overall everything ok. would not return. I would recommend Barcelona beautiful place. Also offered to buy hash every night on the street. Parents would not recommend 18 year olds to go unsupervised.
