Another good stay at the Bower Hotel

Another good stay at this pleasent well located hotel. Standard rate room and bed was very comfortable and well appointed, peaceful view to rear of hotel, all staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast had a good choice and staff were plentiful. A friend of mine staying in another room said it was the best night's sleep she'd had for months as the bed was so comfortable. Only problem I had was in the bar later on (past midnight) it was quite busy as there were a couple of big parties staying at the hotel and there was only two...

The staff were amazing - as a single female traveller I spend a lot of time in hotel rooms....but was more than happy to sit in the bar - supping my slightly expensive white wine - but hey ho! - and the staff were so friendly ....Brilliant! nothing was too much trouble! Thank you!

I am a regular user of this hotel and would like to say that this hotel is excellent value for money. The room I had was as usual spotless, my dinner - the hallibut - I can highly recomend and breakfast is back to its usual good standard. Thank you to the team.

Stayed at the Swallow Bower whilst on a training course with National Grid Gas staff were very friendly and helpful, the meals were very good with a great menu that covered every taste. The bedrooms are spacious with all facilities to hand, and were kept clean and tidy every day through-out my stay. I am looking forward to my next visit in September thank you to all for making my stay an enjoyable one, I would recommend the Swallow Bower to my family and friends

I stayed at this hotel for a friend's wedding 4 years ago and some of the rooms were tired then. Upon our return to visit the friends this Easter, the hotel doesn't seem to have been updated and if anything it looks even more tired and in need of some TLC. The corridor to our room smelt of sour milk. Having said this, the staff were very friendly and efficient, giving us directions and details for local attractions etc. If you do stay here, go for an executive room. These are more modern and cleaner but again it was 4 years ago...

We had our wedding at the Bower hotel on the 27th December 2006, and the staff, the service, the food and accomodation was lovely. Many thanks for making our wedding day a fantastic one, and you will always be highly reccomended by us
Some Good, Some Bad

Have to say that this hotel were excellent at first as we had been let down by another for our wedding. Hotel is set in lovely area and staff are mostly wonderful. Chef is easily approachable to discuss any special request and knows where to buy the best meat, and how to cook it. Rooms very clean and well stocked. Bridal suite lovely. Bar prices quite high - £4.00 for a bottle of still water and they ran out of ice. Car park large though you will have a problem with your wedding cars due to the set up. Breakfast well...

overpriced dingy unhelpful staff

stayed at this hotel and found it to be overpriced the rooms were dingy and needed updating and try and get help from staff, you might as well talk to the wall. we will not be staying again

I stayed here for 1 night with my husband. The rooms are quite small and a bit dated, although they are clean and comfortable. The 24hr room service consists of sandwiches only! Although other meals are available at set times. We stayed on b&b basis and had our breakfast delivered to our room, free of charge, which was tasty and hot. We payed £52 for the room and breakfast for 2 people and it was well worth the money. Morrissons is a 2 minute walk away which is very handy. Would definately stay here again.

Poor & overpriced food, bad staff attitudes on declining the bad food & wrong bottle of wine, very small & dingy rooms. Although they offer a good airport parking package with APH, its worth paying a few pounds more & staying elsewhere - even for 1 night!
