This hotel is great, a true hidden gem. I did read comments on other web sites, but some people want the Ritz don't they? The decor could do with being updated around the hotel, but the room I stayed in was lovely room 11. The bathrooms look like they have been have been... more

Classy little boutique style hotel which I couldn't fault for the money. Stayed 1 night with my wife on a trip to see Manchester United which was less than a 5 minute walk away. Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, secure parking and furnished to a standard I would associate... more

Great for 1 night stay
Stayed here for one night as we wanted a day shopping at the Trafford Centre and wanted to get an early start. We didnt arrive at the hotel until gone 11pm, we had telephoned in advance to let them know, there were no problems at all with check in and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was also clean and well stocked. Tea and Coffee making facilites were also in the room with biscuits, hot chocolate etc. The breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked and very good. We paid £40 for one night, for a spacious, clean comfortable room with an excellent cooked breakfast. I think this hotel is ideal for anyone who needs to be in Trafford area for one or two nights.
Great Hotel
Everything from the car park attendant to the night porter the staff were the best. Nothing was any trouble, we picked the hotel for it being No.1 at the time & we were watching Man Utd at Old Trafford. Although the hotel was very busy all the staff seemed to have the time & professional attitude to answer our questions. The bedrooms were spotless & clean with comfortable bed, the food in the resturant is the best we have ever had in manchester ( we are in manchester alot ) will be going back
Overrated: little chance of a repeat visit
I booked this hotel on the basis of recommendations posted by others on TripAdvisor; I wonder if I stayed at the same hotel they did. For the money, it's not a particularly good deal, and overall it was no better than staying at a Premier Travel Inn (which is less than 2/3 the price per night). The receptionist was friendly, efficient and welcoming, but the room, although clean, was nothing special, and the noise from the bar was troublesome until late at night. Perhaps I should have asked for a room overlooking the Old Trafford Stadium? It didn't occur to me to do so, because I'm not a Man U fan. Apart from breakfast (which was OK), I didn't use the restaurant. Considering that it cost me less to stay recently at the Langham Hotel in Melbourne (the best hotel I've ever stayed at) than at the Chesters, I shan't be rushing back. The next time I'm in Manchester, I'll stay somewhere else.
Manchester United Stay
Stayed here whilst over for a manchester united game. Very close to the stadium. Rooms are clean and larger than average with modern decor. Food in restaurant was very good but overpriced. Pricing really is the issue with this hotel. Under £100 pounds will get you to the much more atmospheric Golden Tulip (and closer to the stadium) or the much more relaxed Old Trafford Lodge. Overall just OK. Not sure how they were No 1 in Manchester, on this site, for so long????? Arora beats it hands down in all departments!
Great But Let Down by its Location
Just stayed in the Chesters for a couple of days and really like the hotel. The rooms are good and a good size however the location is not all I was expecting. Its not in Manchester but outside, better for the game than the city. Staff really friendly, it has a family appeal and restaurant really good.
Excellent Value
Have just returned from a weekend at this Hotel with my Husband,Daughter,Son-in-law and 3 year old Grandaughter. We had a suite which was large with a lovely seating area my Daughter and family a standard room which although no seating area was large with enough room for Harriet to have a bed put in there;both rooms were in excellent condition and very clean. Our room had a 6ft bed which was great. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order, and they went out of thier way to make Harriet welcome, nothing was to much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and again the choice was impressive,on first glance the menu look's expensive until you taste the quality of the food,I have paid more in 5* Hotels for less quality, infact we stayed at the Great John St Hotel (see review on this website) a few weeks before and yes it was a fantastic Hotel but when you compare price it makes you wonder if it is worth paying the extra. Only down side we were all woken up at 3.30am on Sun by noise from the ajoining rooms when a noisy Hen Party arrived back, but I have experienced this at other hotels and Im not sure how the Hotel's can stop it, all in all a very enjoyable weekend.
I love this hotel
I have stayed in this little hotel 2 or 3 times on a week long business trip and tried to get in again this week but unfortunately for me they were booked up. I do confess to being a 'hotel snob' and I tried really hard to fault this place, but I really could not find anything wrong with it except perhaps for its situation. The rooms are spotlessly clean and a pleasure to stay in. The staff are a credit to the place, and the food is wonderful. I just wish there were more hotels around with the atmosphere this one has. I would recommend it to anyone.
Super hotel
We've just returned from a weekend stay at the Chesters Hotel and Restaurant in Manchester, just next to Old Trafford. We had a great time. The hotel is conveniently off the main road and has secure, off road parking. The staff were polite and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. It's so nice to find a hotel that doesn't cost the earth yet has matching furniture in the bedrooms. Well, the furniture was not only matching but looked new and in impeccable condition. The colour tv was tuned in and we had good tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite bathroom was beautiful and also spotless - everywhere. As we'd read in other reviews, the full English breakfast was excellent and we won't hesitate to stay there again. A very enjoyable stay, now, if they could just do something about the weather....
Absolutely fantastic - late night snacks a real treat
What an amazing place. Stayed there when Barnet were playing Man U. The guys on the gate were really friendly and the staff were really welcoming. After the game the staff commiserated us on our loss and told us to go down to the bar (in our shirts) and have a few drinks. We watched the rest of the games on the TV screen and the chef provided some cooked nibbles (mini samosas, chunky chips, mini spring rolls etc - all free) to keep us happy. It was such a lovely atmosphere - just like being at home in your lounge. Would thorouhly recommend to anyone and can't wait for another opportunity to visit Manchester and stay in this wonderful place.
A good Hotel, well staffed, excellent restaurant
Good, clean spacious accomodation. Nice bar and restaurant in the basement. Staff are very helpful. Free car parking. Very busy if Man U are at home. Not the most respectable part of town but dont be out off a really good hotel by its location
