Home from Home, that sums up our stay at this H10 Hotel, Salou. We had a 10 day stay in June with our 2 year old daughter, we were very impressed with this hotel, couldn't fault it one bit.
The rooms were spotless and a good size. The food was good, great variety every night and the kids buffet was excellent. Only a 10 minute walk from the beach and local shops/bars/restaurants, very clean place and would consider returning in the next few years.
If you have kids then they'll love this hotel, our daughter was entertained day and night!! Only a 5 minute walk from the adventure and water park!!

The Salauris Palace has some good points, and some not so good. If you like a central hotel with shops and bars nearby, then this is not for you. It is a twenty minute walk into town where you will find all the shops, restaurants and bars.
It is only 300 m to the Port Aventura theme park, with some very busy roads to cross. The hotel has a cosmopolitan feel with many German, French and Spanish stopping there.
The plus parts are actually the hotel itself. It is light and airy and very modern. The rooms are clean and spacious, the bathroom is larger than most and has a shower and bidet. The facilities include Jacuzzi, sauna, mini gym, indoor heated pool and outdoor fresh water pool. The food is of fine quality and plentiful of choice, whether it's salads or fish courses to meats and wonderful desserts, you'll never leave the restaurant feeling hungry.
The staff are pleasant and helpful, we decided to use the local taxi's into town which was between 4-5 Euros. Our taxi to the airport was 28 Euros. All in all, a pleasant stay, but a little too far from the action for us.

Well, I must say me and my family had an absolutely amazing time at the Salauris Palace Hotel! I can’t believe the comments about the poor food from the previous rating as we found the food to a very high standard. What ever time you went there was always plenty of food and the staff were always busy trying to clear the tables to make room for new guests. The food came in a variety so you never got bored and was always properly cooked.
The hotel was very clean, the rooms being spacious and well maintained made our stay even better. The reps tried there best to help with days out etc so you always knew what you could do around in Spain.
The night atmosphere was really warm and friendly and there is something for everyone to do. Although if you want to go to sleep before 12 you may not want a pool side room!
Finally the hotel is in a brilliant location for the theme park, beaches and excursions to Barcelona making Spain an unforgettable holiday. In all we would definitely recommend this hotel to guests in the future!

We went on a 7 day half board holiday and we will not be back to this hotel. The worst aspect was the food which was very Spanish orientated.
The quality was very poor and we found we had to eat out most nights which was really annoying. Also the staff were very unfriendly although I think this was more or less because they can’t speak much English.
Overall it has put us off going half board anywhere again

After having our flight times changed again buy direct ,we finally arrived later than we should and missed our evening meal.
This was no fault of the hotel, which is fantastic, very clean and tidy, good size rooms with a safe and mini fridge which came in handy.
Great location 10mins walk to Portaventura and beach. Entertainment very good, friendly staff, food nice with plenty of choice. Booked again for next year.

We have just returned from the Salauris Palace on a two week stay. Well where do I start? The hotel itself is very modern and clean close to the theme parks and beach, and the food well!
At the start of the holiday it was ok but gradually went on a steep decline. Both the breakfast and dinner food was often cold. Most of the meat was not cooked raw in the middle this included the children’s food. One night my toddler want a burger from the children’s selection and when it was cut open it was bright red and raw in the centre. I took it to the manager who was in the restaurant and his reply was "some people like it like that". My answer was that you do not give children raw meat.
Many families complained about the poor standards of the food and in two cases the manager just smiled and laughed.
Plates were stacked high on your table before they got cleared and food wasn’t replaced when it had run out quickly enough. This wasn’t the only major conflict the sun bed war went on outside as there are not enough beds for guests.
We have been to another H0 hotel before and the standards of food and service varied greatly. Our poor rep spent most of his time filling in complaint forms!

We stayed at the Salauris Palace in July 2005 for a week on a half board basis which we got as a late deal.
The Salauris Palace is a very comfortable 4 star hotel, we had a great time there, excellent amenities and only 10 minuets walk from Port Aventura. The food in the hotel is excellent and we always managed to get a table, even at busy times. The pool is very large but does get busy during the day, if you are looking for some quiet time I would go up to roof terrace where you can sunbath in peace (there is also a hot tub up there, but we never used this)
The rooms are a very good size and have a safe inside them, along with a TV. The only problem that we had was our room was a pool view and on an evening the entertainment was very loud and could be heard quite clearly in our room with all the doors closed, so I would recommend requesting a non pool side view if you have children as the entertainment went on until at least midnight every night. There is also a small fridge in each room which you have to pay to use (it is locked with a key) and I would say that this isn’t worth the money as it is only a mini bar and isn’t very cold.
All in all we would defiantly go back as it was excellent service that we got from the hotel.

This hotel is super in terms of value for money balanced against quality.
Ignore the previous opinion as the food in this hotel for all meals is as good as you will get except for in maybe an up market restaraunt. It was excellent, well cooked and with good variety to suit all tastes. I never failed to enjoy it anyway and the breakfasts offer good variety including cooked omelettes to your taste by a chef.
The accommodation offers nice rooms with free safes and free gym and pool use. The gym is basically a multi-gym set up which will suffice for a week but not cater for fanatics.
The staff are generally very good and helpful.
Avoid paying taxi fares and get the local Aerobus to the airport for five euros per person.
Would come back here again but not in October as the weather had well and truly broken.

There’s good and not so good, but it must be understood that we booked as a couple, not a family. The bad bits first:
Breakfast was ok, but no more. For the first 2 days it rained hard and the hotel was full of screaming children and people wielding buggies. The hotel seemed to have no contingency for this event. In thunderstorms, the power is unreliable, but the hotel has backup generators that kick in after about 30 seconds
The entertainment in the main was poor and the children’s entertainment was the same thing repeated every day with badly recorded music including the dam busters march. (i wonder what the Germans made of that!)
If you are of the type to go out of an evening late as that’s when the nightlife of Salou starts, then rooms overlooking the pool should be avoided as the rooms have no sound insulation and it is impossible to have an evening kip.
The evening meals on the first 2 days were all but inedible, although the quality improved dramatically as the week wore on and by the end of the week we were spoilt for choice. But do avoid the wine list which is made up of cheap sweet wines.
Now the good:
The staff were absolutely wonderful and it was obvious that they gained pleasure from being helpful and doing their job well. Special mention should be made of the bar staff and the drinks waiters who smiled all the time and managed well to get round the language barrier, although in key places, the hotel should have employed bi-lingual staff.
The room was made up promptly after leaving and well cleaned. When we experienced a small technical problem, it was sorted within 3 minutes. The shower is the best I have encountered in any hotel and the aircon was very efficient.
The hotel is well situated being 10/15 minutes walk to Port Aventura which should not be missed, and about the same to the beach. The walk to the English pub area, if that is what you seek is about 10 minutes.
In all, this was a clean and well run hotel with a good pool and plenty of sunbeds. With the reservations about the food in the earlier part of the week, maybe bb should be considered if available. The other reservation is that the hotel is geared to families with all the noise and disruption that children can cause, so not recommended for couples seeking a quiet life.

MY holiday at the Salauris Palace was really amazing! It was the best holiday i've ever had and it was all down to the animation (the entertainment crew).Baptiste, Maria, Luuk & Suzi! They seemed to know everyone’s name and always had this amazing sense of humour. During the evening entertainment they would sit with us and chat with us even though they didn’t have to, and Luuk who is the children’s entertainer could be found most nights in the playground playing with the small children! These people are truly amazing! So if your going to the Salauris Palace this summer make sure to take part in the activities you wont regret it!!

The Salauris Palace is a modern 4 star hotel about 3 years old. It is very clean with spacious rooms. The twin rooms have two 3/4 beds. The bathroom is large with nice decor.
There is a safety deposit box in the room, which you do not pay any extra for. There is also a small fridge in the room, which you can pay for at reception if you decide to use it.
The pool is is large with a nice waterfall/cave feature. There is also a toddler’s pool.
The restaurant is large with a large variety of food each day. Entertainment in the hotel was good although it did not start till about 10pm - there is also a kids disco at 9pm which lasts 30minutes. There were also activities run throughout the day for both adults and children.
The staff in the hotel are always very friendly and polite.
There is an indoor pool with a gym/sauna/Turkish bath on the lower ground floor. The only complaint I have about this hotel is that children were allowed to run about and play with the gym equipment unsupervised. The resort of Salou is big with lots of bars whether it is Spanish/British/German or Dutch there is something for everyone.
I enjoyed Port Aventura and Costa Caribe which I spent a couple of days at both.
If you enjoy Mexican food there is a lovely Mexican restaurant just at the end of Salou heading into Cambrils.
Going the other way into La Pineda there is a Salsa Bar, which has Salsa dancing every night, and sometimes does Salsa classes also.
It is very easy to get about in Salou there is a regular local service. There are also buses and trains, which run frequently to Barcelona and Tarragona.
Overall this is an excellent hotel, which I have stayed in twice now and I intend to return next year.
Salou is a good resort and in a good location to travel to Barcelona, Tarragona or even Andorra if you wanted.

Just came back from Salauris Palace. Had read the previous reviews and I was a bit worried with 2 children aged 9 and 2 as part of our group. Well, I cannot fault this hotel, the staff were friendly, hotel was of a very good standard, we booked a family room which was lovely. The only down side was there was not much wardrobe space for 2 adults and 2 children.
Food was very good; buffet style with an additional carvery every night. The pool was very clean and no problem getting sun beds in the morning at 10am. Shops were only 5 minutes walk away and Portaventura was fabulous; a must.
The children loved it with a mini disco and entertainment in the evening with 'Daisy' the hotel mascot; a walking daisy which my 2 year old son loved.
I would not go back to Salou as the resort was not my cup of tea however I would definitely stay at an H10 hotel again.
Don't be put off by the bad reports!!
