DONT go there!!!!!!!!!!!
Our stay here was a nightmare from start to finish. I paid £46 a night for my room but reading other reviews of this hotel most guests seem to have paid £26 a night so i'm even more annoyed now. Even if your paying £26 a night don't do it. Me and a mate stayed here to go to a James concert in the MEN arena. I was really shocked at the hotels location. It's in a dodgy area behind a petrol station next to a council estate. There were loads of kids hanging about outside the hotel and drunks sitting outside the two pubs you have to walk past... more
Terrible!
We arrived at Sportcity after stopping at Diamond Lodge a short distance away for directions, and were faced with a car park full of weeds and smashed glass, seemingly from cars which had been broken into! The outside of the building was dirty and shabby, so it was with a sense of foreboding we even set foot through the door. There was one girl on reception who seemed pleasant enough, but we were still kept waiting for a while before she got to us. The room was awful, black mould in the bathroom, there was an inch of dust everywhere, it... more
Mouldy ceilings
This travelodge was a disgrace. The bathroom ceiling was black with mould. The seals on the the edges of the baths were also black with mould. We booked a twin room and were given a double-there were no other rooms available. But we did better than the people who arrived after us- as travelodge had overbooked, other guests were told they would have to stay at a travelodge 6 miles down the road(Even though they had booked) and this was at 11.30 at night! One small pillow each and overall it was a truly awful experience. It was a shame as... more
Black bathroom ceiling!
The hotel was located in a slightly rough area and a little out of the way, but the buses into the city centre stop literally across the road and run very frequently at £1.60. The room was a total disgrace, we may have only paid £26 but the hotel should maintain the basic standard you would expect from a Travelodge, and this place doesn't. The ceiling in the bathroom was more black (with mould) than white paint and had a very damp and musty smell about it. The ceiling slopes at one side of the bed and you literally can't stand up... more
£26....u get wat u pay for
We finally got there after an hour of getting lost. the directions on the travellodge website are rubbish. If cumin from M62 east get off at the M60 junction roundabout dont get off few junctions before which is wat they suggest as it takes you though 100's of traffic lights and bad local traffic.Upon arrival we were pretty put back by the area...very rough and run down. The travellodge has a 12ft high steel fence around it and as the front car park was full i drove round the back and realised why, there was about 3 piles of broken glass.<br... more
Adequate
I was fortunate to book this Travelodge at the pre-paid price of £26. If I'd paid the normal rate of £46 I would have be disappointed with what I got for my money. The room was shabby, with lots of damp/mould patches in the bathroom and one patch in the bedroom near the door. The mattress was fit for a skip - it had definitely seen better days. This Travelodge is located in a very dodgy area, but is ideally located for the Manchester Apollo, the reason for our visit. An impression of security is given by several cameras in the... more
Poor!
When arriving at the hotel we were greeted by the receptionist who was really friendly, we got given directions to our room and everything was fine. Later on in the evening we went out and when we arrived back at the hotel we were greeted by a snotty nightporter, this person being the major problem. We entered the hotel quietly and made no noise whatsoever. The night porter then told us to be quiet, which we continued to do anyway. But he decided that he would follow us to our room, making myself and my companion feel... more
An experience!!
We stayed here on a visit to granada studios. Its not the greatest of bases simply because of the distance to the City centre but for £46 a night my partner and I thought that this compensated for it. If you eventually find the hotel(hidden behind a petrol station) you will soon get a feeling from somewhere in your subconcious that your not safe. The car park didnt feel secure, surrounded by houses and the people sitting outside the pubs on the end of the turning didnt look that inviting as they stared at the car on the way in! The... more
Enjoy the late bar but avoid the breakfast
A friend and I took advantage of an superb deal - £26 for the room all in off the Travelodge website - to stop over the night before we went to the cricket at the real Old Trafford. We arrived about midnight after a long drive from London and were more than happy to be served a couple of drinks from the late bar, staffed by the very friendly Scots night porter. This hotel was not the easiest of places to find and it is a good 5 minutes drive from SportCity and probably 15 minutes drive from the centre of Manchester. It is a typical... more
Quite happy with the Quality Hotel
We stayed here for New Year 2004, and the hotel was of a good standard. Everything was very clean and modern, and there were a lot of facilities. One warning though; the hotel claims to be 1.5 kilometres from the city centre, but it's at least 2.5 miles. Quite a hike, as we were to find out.
