My review is mainly on the Galleon Leisure Club and in part the Hotel. I had been a member of the club for 15 years but not anymore as I got a refund!. Having asked the managers several times over many years to improve the cleanliness of the club and recently for shelves to... more

I am in the room now... Its not great but makes a change to the Travelodge... The rooms are small but fine, There is internet connection quite reasonable, In house movies but dont seem to work, standard TV is ok not great reception.Did complain and was told that it would be looked at but was the same when i got back!. Reception is more suited to a lesuire centre rather than a hotel,Food is Very good had a steak yesterday and Wednesday nt is Curry ny at a cost of £3.50 and was excellent! Not much atmosphere though.I would stay again as it is... more
Like 70's porn set!
After arriving at the poorly signed gymnasium (as that is what this place is, a gym with a few shocking room attached!) myself and my partner were directed to our room. It was with high hopes that we opened our door to see to our horror that we had two single beds at each end of a 70's style american motel room with a distinct smell.... After a quiet word with the work experience kid apparently running the reception!! we were given keys to our double room. On entrance the smell hit you straight away then secondly the lack of progress in... more
Disgusting
As the Village Hotel was fully booked I had the misfortune of having to stay at the Galleon in Cheadle. Just to portray a quick picture to try and save others from having to put up with a grim stay.... The bedroom was dated and smelly with extremenly hard beds, with the added bonus of a stained sheet! The bathroom stunk. It was a wet room i.e. with the shower open. A great idea if designed well. As it was so old the flooring was coming away from the ground. It was dirty and everything just ended up getting soaked...towels,... more
don"t do it
stayed here for work and turned up late due to stay for 3 nights but left in the morning and went to the travelodge. dont stay here its terrible infested with spiders
We will not be returning.
On the positive side, the situation of this hotel is very convenient for the airport and motorway system and the leisure faciilities and bar areas are fine. The problems relate mainly to the state of some of the rooms. Beware if you book via the internet at a cheap rate, as you may well be given a room barely fit for human habitation. This happened the first time we stayed but after receiving an apology, we decided to give it a second chance. We collected our key and were suspicious when we were directed down to the basement. Along a... more
fine but rooms far too small
We had a pleseant stay, but the room was far too small, not enough room to move around in, bed was not long enough for 6 foot male to sleep in! Staff were very friendly, but there was no food service at 7pm, even though the hotel literature said it was open until 9 pm. Not sure if we would stay there again.
Rooms are not fit to be stayed in
The swimming pool looked great but the rooms were terrible. The bathroom was rotten with the door falling away. The rooms smelt of stale smoke and were very stuffy. I really would not recommend this hotel.
I Recommend the Waterside Hotel
I certainly recommend this hotel. The room I used was more than adequate, the bed was comfortable, and the room was quite without being miles away from all the hotel’s amenities. The integrated sports centre is excellent, much better than the airport hotel I have used in the past. Tip 1: Anyone staying here needs to ensure that they pack their gym kit and swimming togs. Tip 2: Only one restaurant in the hotel, but there is a cheaper bar menu. Tip 3: I was easily able to walk into the village and back without having to... more
Rooms are CRAP. don't stay here.........
Gym maybe good, but the rooms are dreadful, I had a twin room which was tiny. beds were aged, bathroom was an insult. heating (electric heater full of dust etc) did not work at all. After a dreadful sleep (cold all night) I awoke to the red brick walls facing me. oh yes, the interior walls are just red house bricks. No this is not stylish and never has been. I checked out of this hotel after one night (I had booked 3) and booked into Eleven didsbury house hotel. After my day at work I returned to and slept the nightmare of... more
Shabby but friendly
First impressions were of our room: which was awful! Tatty, a bit grubby & almost subterranean. It stank of chlorine too. But that leads on to the good part - free access to the health club & swimming pool which is wonderfully family friendly. Location is fine - walking distance (just) to the Old Cock in Didsbury & just a few mins from East Disdbury train station. Breakfast was fine, and all the staff were very helpful & friendly. So 3/5 rating salvaged.
