At the north end of the beach strip, this hotel has direct access to the beach. Sunny Beach is on the Black Sea coast with a 5 mile stretch of fine sandy beach curving around a semicircular bay. " My boyfriend and I have just returned... "

My boyfriend and I have just returned from staying at the Bellevue.

Please do not read all the comments and believe that it is terrible because it really is not that bad. It is a 3 star and you will get what you pay for.

We stayed in the Minerva II, which was about a 10 min walk from the main reception and entrance which is a pain when you are carrying your luggage. If you do not like walking it is not the holiday for you. Everything is quite far apart if your hotel is far away. When we went out for dinner each night it would take us about 10 mintues to get onto the main strip which was frustrating when it was raining!

The hotel entertainment is not very good so if you are all inclusive do be aware! The cleaniness was not to the highest standard as when the maid cleaned our room she just pushed all the items of clothing under the bed instead of folding it neatly.

If you are self catering do not go to the on site supermarket as it is very expensive and if you buy drinks at the hotel it is also very expensive.

All women should be aware to take a hairdryer as if you do not then you have to pay 22 euros to borrow the hotels!!!!

We had some fantastic neighbours and we spent most of time with them and staying up and drinking until late. As the complex is so big and there are varied age groups and you may be kept up by screaming, talking and singing.

Overall it was brillant place and we had a great time. We would definately go back and do self catering again. There is something for everyone to do and there is about 4 swimming pools!!

" Just returned from two weeks in the... "

Just returned from two weeks in the Bellevue hotel. We were not sure what to expect of the resort having read many differing reports about the resort and hotels. We liked this hotel. It was kept very clean and the staff all appeared friendly throughout our stay. On arrival at 2.00am we were well greeted and our cases all taken to the room for us. Our room was a good size and was cleaned on a daily basis, by a very friendly cleaner, and it had with reasonable air conditioning. There was a good choice of food in the hotel restaurant although this was quite repetitive. We all had no problems finding something we liked each breakfast and evening meal. (two adults/ two children 5 and 10)
This hotel does not stand out as much as some of the others in its glamour and presentation but it is one we would use again. We were disappointed at having to pay for sun beds each day although there was never a great rush for these. Pool was very cold in the mornings though. However it was clean enough. The atmosphere was always friendly within all areas of the hotel. There was no entertainment at the hotel (other than at the paying restaurant) and often when this was available in other hotels you were expected to pay for a ticket to attend.
The sea was lovely and warm although there were occasional jellyfish during our stay. The beach was well organised with lifeguards and medical attendants around throughout the day. It was generally very clean but there were many cigarette ends on the sand.
Walking along the seafront on an evening was a exciting experience with loads to see and do but was spoiled by the number of electric motorcycles, three wheel cycle taxis, golf buggies and other transport all noisily moving you out of their way. A number of people wanted to present snakes, tiny crocodiles and a monkey for photo opportunities. Many people appeared uncomfortable with this. Some begging on the streets also highlighted the extremes of poverty and wealth in this country. The number of Mercedes AMGs, Bentleys, Audis, Rolls Royces and Porches (almost all black with heavily tinted windows - a little sinister) was astonishing - There appears to be some incredibly rich people in this poor country. We did a trip to Varna to see the dolphins and also to Nessebar which is well worth a visit. The jeep safari was a good day out showing how life is for many in their small and backward villages.
Most people we dealt with were friendly but as someone else has commented it can be difficult spending money. The supermarket near the hotel hated notes and almost expected correct change for every purchase. They were clearly not pleased with anyone not managing this. My advice would be to take small denominations as getting rid of 50 Lev notes became quite a challenge at times!! Watch also for the ice cream which is sold by weight in many cases!!
We were disappointed with the Balkan holiday flight - it was all friendly and efficient enough but a small drink of tea or coffee and a small cold sandwich (both ways) seemed well below the expectations of many people on the plane.
On balance we enjoyed our visit - it is important to remember that this is a less developed country than our own and which is behind in a number of areas. Most things remain good value but the Bulgarians are learning to charge for as many things as possible and I suspect this will not remain the case for too long. I am sure most people would be happy at Bellevue. Having read some reports from customers of far flashier hotels I remain pleased with our choice.

" We have just got back from Hotle... "

We have just got back from Hotle Bellevue, where we stayed for two weeks. Honestly, we cannot fault the hotel - it was brilliant. The one complaint we did have thou was the food provided at the hotel - it wasn't very nice and the restaurant staff were quite miserable. Unlike the bar staff at the hotel who were wicked, in particular, Nic, Martin and Peter - these guys were brilliant and extremely friendly - the best bar staff in bulgaria!

The hotel was very clean, and well presented. It is located just at the end of the main strip, which is nice as it means of an evening you are not disturbed by the noise when you are trying to sleep.

Yes you are required to pay for the sunbeds, both around the pool and at the beach, but its only 5Lv, (approx: £2) and the pool is kept clean all day - the only thing you do need to do is brace yourself for the pools temperature - very cold!

If you are eating out of an evening we recommend: Carriby restaurant and Raffelos, the Castle does a good pizza as well - worth a visit. If its breakfast you are after, we recommend Raffelos, Arizona (which conveniently are right next to each other!) Filliloplops is also worth a visit.

Trips wise - the water park isn't great, but will be good for families. We flew with Thomas Cook and signed up to Off Road Full Throttle which was amazing - horse-riding, quadbikes, archery, shooting are the day's main activities, lunch is also included and our tour guide "Orlean" was fanatastic - his knowledge re: Bulgaria and its history is brilliant as was his English. Khan's Tent is another trip worth doing - dinner is provided and the entertainment is out of this world (acrobats, and a woman that can bend her body to fit into a bird cage - yes an actual bird cage!!)

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone! We had an excellent time and are missing it already!!!

" A late decision to go to Bulgaria as... "

A late decision to go to Bulgaria as my daughter had already booked with friends, but I definitely had the better hotel, friendly staff, rooms cleaned daily, even the cleaners had a welcoming smile. Although booked late in the year would definitely go back in years to come... relaxing holiday for me but there was still a bit going on, its an up and coming place I think. Some hotel entertainment would be good... a place worth visiting.

" Cannot fault the Bellevue at all.... "

Cannot fault the Bellevue at all. There was cleaning staff 24 hrs a day. The hotel was spotless.

Staff very polite and helpful. The food was excellent with plenty of choice either breakfast or dinner. Sunny beach is a brill place for families either staying by the hotel pool or on the beach. it is very cheap to buy clothes and food and drink.

I would recommend sunny beach to anyone wanting a cheap and happy holiday with plenty of sunshine and local entertainment.
