Comments:  This was a return visit from one 4 years ago and indeed is the first time we (4 adults but inc 2 just out of teens adults) ahave ever returned to the same hotel/resort. We were disapointed however that there was no longer any piano bar as it was nice to go and relax after dinner with a coffee and listen to the piano player each evening. Also they have refurbished the rooms and although much better than 4 years ago they have installed room safes at 18 euros a week, yes 18! (need to reduce this!) They are bidding to be a 4 star hotel but small things like these two items do not bode well. The food was as good as 4 years ago though and for those reviewers who think it was not very good they must only go to 5 star hotels with silver service! It was hot, where necessary, plenty of it and great variety with a different main dish every evening. Staff were great and helpful and there was entertainment for the children each day with a round up each evening with certificates etc. Main entertainment later on though could perhaps have been slightly better but being a holiday resort people do go out so the audience was never huge so big cost acts not perhaps viable? Pool was clean and a lifeguard on duty each day (automatic cleaning by the way via the filtration system and indeed they shut the pool some mornings as it was too cloudy!) between stated hours. Beach was only a few minutes away and Salou itself a 15 min walk down the 'new' walkway which was only being built when we last visited or take the bus or trolley train. Port Aventurer is a must although Cariba Water Park is perhaps a miss as it is not a patch on Aquapolis just near La Pineda down the road which is bigger and better. Thomson staff great and able to answer all questions. All in all a great time and we will return some time in the future.

Comments:  This was one of the best hotels that I have stayed in so far! The room and hotel were kept very clean, the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful, especially the dining staff. The food was very good aswell, there was a variety of different foods available and you can always find something suitable to your liking. There is entertainment on every night in the bar which was very good, this included live music, magic shows, flamenco and boys vs. girls (this show was the most entertaining of all).
Our room was situated at the back of the hotel so we didn't have the amazing sea views, however we did have a good view of the Platja Llarga (which is the walkway along the beach that takes you into Salou Centre) and partly a view of the sea. The location of the hotel isn't the best, there is only one shop across the street and a bar (Knights Inn - very good for food) and another shop around the corner on the way into La Pineda. However the beach is right beside the hotel and Salou Centre (which is where all the bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, amusements and the main beach are situated) is only a 15 minute walk away along the Platja Llarga. There are two bus stops across the street beside the shop, one which takes you into Salou Centre, Port Aventura and the other that takes you to La Pineda and Barcelona (the buses come regularly - about every 10/15 minutes). At these bus stops you can also take the train into Salou, Port Aventura and La Pineda, it is very enjoyable however it is slightly dearer than the buses.
I highly recommend that you go to Port Aventura for at least two days during your stay as it is an amazing theme park and also venture into La Pineda for the day. I also recommend that you take a day trip to Barcelona and see the sites or go shopping as it is an amazing day trip and it really makes your holiday!!
Overall this hotel is great to stay in, it has met all of my needs and I will definitley return to it in the near future! I highly recommed it! :)

Comments:  very disappointed. food very boring, not a lot of choice and usually cold. Not enough room around pool for the amount of people staying at hotel. We had a very small room, with a very large bed had to climb over bed to get across room and balcony did not get any sun anytime of the day. Not a lot happening around the hotel but a pleasant 20min walk into Salou. If we had not had brilliant weather it would have been a very poor holiday.
will not be going back

Comments:  The room was comfortable and kept clean on a daily basis, the view from the balcony was fantastic over looking the beach, which was brilliant. The pool at the hotel appeared to be clean, however, this wasn't cleaned during the 11 days we spent there and certainly contributed to the ear infection my daughter got.
Food wise................ not great, infact awful, however the snack bar by the pool provided great snacks at quite reasonable prices.
Finally the entertainment...... the reps and some outside entertainers did their best but the standard was very poor and I feel the hotel should certainly invest in a better standard of entertainment for the guests which should include entertainment for people over the age of 8 years old!

Comments:  I decided to book a last minute holiday and take my mum away, I am in my late 20's and Mum in her late 40's. Reading some of the mixed reviews I was a little concerned after booking Hotel Negresco. However on our arrival I was somewhat impressed, the hotel was very clean and presentable and the staff very friendly. Our room was a little compact as I ordered a twin room, but very clean with a stunning view.
I could not fault the holiday at all, I enjoyed the location as I wouldnt want to be in the middle of Salou centre! Transport was very accessible with the bus stop located at the top of the road (2 mins walk) to Salou, Barcelona Tarrogana etc, Although I believe such a pretty resort has been spolit by 'The brits abroad bars and resturants' why not embrase the spanish culture.

The hotel its self as i said was very clean and the staff are friendly, plently of food to chose from, although as i only stayed for a week it was good, if any longer I believe it could be very samey!? Whilst we were staying there, the hotel is processing to a 4* although i believe it should stay a 3* they pool was not that big and towards the end of the week a lot of families arrived due to the spanish holidays and the pool became very crowded and on a few occasions had to wait for dinner. Although we didnt take any children, there isnt a lot for them to do and entertainment is very limited for them during the day.

Overall our break was very good and recommonded for all ages.

Top tips: Do try and speak a little spanish, just the basics and girls, take a small 'paperboy style bags', as the area is prone to pick pockets including men

Comments:  Very pleased with the hotel. Room was clean and tidy; although we faced the front of the hotel we could still see the sea from our balcony. Although peak meal times were busy the staff were very efficient and never had to wait very long.

Good selection of food to suit all tastes, always of a good standard and plenty of it (take advantage of the dinner time wine menu, a really good bottle of white at 5 euros a bottle!).

Pool was clean, never too busy to use. Hotel is about a 20 min. walk from Salou centre, but reception staff were always more than happy to call a taxi if you didn't fancy the walk, again costing between 5-6 euros.

Would certainly stay there again.

Comments:  We took a taxi from Reus airport which took us 30mins to get to the hotel, Hotel Negresco Princess. The hotel looked a little tired, but as we entered the reception the sea/pool view blows you away; it was fantastic.

The room itself was basic but it had everything we needed; our sons 15 and 18 had one room and we were further along the corridor. We also hired a fridge which was really cheap.

The meals were all buffet and with plenty of choice which was always being replenished. Used cutlery and plates were soon taken away once used. The waiters/waitresses do not speak much English but work really hard.

Salou is only a 20min walk along the sea front. Salou reminded us of a hotter version of Blackpool; only with palm trees. It was also very busy. There are a lot of hills and steps around the resort. This may be a problem for some people. Transport isn't a problem. We visited Barcelona which also included a tour of the Nou Camp football stadium. We were there for 2hrs which, by the time we got into the city, didn’t give you enough time for site seeing.

We arranged all our own activities ourselves. At the top of the road you can hop onto a ‘Plana’ bus, which took you everywhere. They do however get really busy. Aquapolis Water Park is in La Pineda. We spent all day there and it was worth the money (same price as Caribe Water Park, but larger). There are no towels to hire. Also 'dressing rooms' are lockers and are to hire. We had 7day passes to Portaventura; we only spent two days there. Keep in mind on some rides you can be queuing for half an hour. There is a firework display at 11.45pm.

Cambrils is a beautiful harbour resort which has lots of shops and sea front cafés. This is 30mins away from Cap Salou via bus. Close to the hotel is English run bar/restaurant; Knights Inn which features an English menu. If you walk further into Cap Salou, you will find a chemist and Supermarket which sells fresh milk. I found a lot of the shops sold UHT milk.

We had a fantastic time at the Negresco Princess. There were lots to do; table tennis, darts, and pool, so our teens didn’t get bored. I must say the swimming pool was absolutely freezing.

Towels were always put over 'reserved' sun beds first thing in the morning. You can hire sun beds etc on the nearby beach. The room wasn’t cleaned as well as I would have liked but it was satisfactory. The noise from other guests was unbelievable, walls are thin and floors are tiled. You could hear people talking at 3 in the morning; no consideration. There seemed to be a high proportion of Russian tourists.

Over all we would definitely visit Negresco again........one day.

Comments:  Sad to say but this was the worst holiday of my life in, what I can only describe as an absolute bombsite.

Room was dirty and really not suitable to lease. A common complaint from nearly all guests.

Only upside it was not too far too get some decent food along at the Connect Inn, where we ate daily noon and nightime.

Tried an couple other places also including the 19th hole and Murphy’s for breakfast

Alas Salou I won’t be back, but then again with the lack of tourists around it seems I won’t be the only one.

Comments:  Hotel location good. Big queues at meal times, even at breakfast.

Our room 156 next door to fire escape which hotel cleaners use to enter building, we were woken every morning at 7am by the noise. Also it seems that you can here every door closing.

Also why is it that the room directly above yours, there is always someone who likes walking about with high heel shoes on especially when the floor is concrete? Very annoying.

All in all not a bad hotel but with less noise a whole lot better.

Comments:  don't believe everthing you read.

we had a fantastic hol 2 children aged 18mnths and 4yrs and they loved it. You get what you pay for - 3 star accom, but 5* food.

down point no inflatables in the main pool just the kids pool which was a little on the small side.

Nice distance from noise etc.. of the main resort. Definatly for familys who want to see there kids and enjoy each others company.

Always clean and reception always helpful.

Comments:  Excellent location with stunning views. Just a few steps away from a small rocky/sandy beach easily accessed from hotel. Our son enjoyed fishing from the rocks and searching for crabs. At the top of the street (2 mins walk) you could easily get a bus to Salou, Cambrils, Tarragona and Barcelona. They ran frequently, about every 10 minutes and buses are air-conditioned. There’s also a small train that allows you a round trip of the Salou area for only 6 euros.

When we checked in we asked for a room with a sea and pool view and that’s what we got. The rooms were clean and towels changed every day and bedding changed twice a week on Tues and Sat. If you want to watch TV then forget it only CNN news in English.

The entertainment during the day (kids club) was excellent and the staff were very friendly and good with the kids. Evening entertainment was also excellent in the big hall with a good variation that suited everyone. We were very impressed with the talents of the pianists in the Piano Bar just opposite and enjoyed a quiet cocktail there in the evening whilst watching the sun set.

All the staff very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent and plenty of it (however we were shocked by the amount of food the Russians could put away especially the fruit and their manners were appalling, they don’t queue, they just barge in), there was enough food for everyone and it was continuously replaced throughout the meal times and the dining staff were very efficient. There’s a Spanish night on a Friday with diners being serenaded by live singing and dancing, superb, and all females receive a real red rose when leaving the dining area. I was very impressed.

The SOS guard at the pool was very attentive and helpful and was especially good with the kids around the pool. He was very professional and kept his eye on everything-making sure no one got injured.

The only thing we found was that there were not enough sun brollies, only 22 and for the size of he hotel definitely not enough, especially when some people would take 2.

Overall an excellent hotel to stay in, the location and good food and service made it an enjoyable break for our family.

Comments:  I recently went for a girly weekend to Salou and stayed at the Negresco Princess and have to say that this hotel was brilliant! Great for all ages although there were hardly any kids there! The views from the pool were amazing and the walks to the nearby shops were an adventure!

All the staff there were so helpful and friendly and someone on reception at all times - even when your rolling in drunk! The rooms were a good size with a good view wherever you were situated and also very clean with maids coming in daily!

The entertainment was good too, all sorts of different events going on in different rooms! Not far from Salou town centre about a five minute bus ride or a two minute taxi ride.

The food was fantastic, so much to choose from and plenty for everyone. The only downside I could see was that the marble floors were very slippy- wear sensible shoes, not stiletto’s ladies!

I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family, it really made my holiday!

Comments:  It was a lovely hotel. I went as a family and we would go back. It had a sister hotel and it was not as beautiful as this one!

The bedroom was tidy and spotless and the towels were changed everyday. The beach was right next to us. We had a lovely view of the sea and the pool and we watched the sun go down every night, it was the most amazing holiday ever!

The pool was changed every day and the life guard was checking every minute of the day. The sea was clear as anything. The water park was class and there was a pub called Idols and it was class, it was a night club for the kids with class music and the champions- it was fantastic for kids with a clown there nearly everyday.

If I was you I would go there, it was amazing and I would go there again and again!

Comments:  As Steve would say: AH, Fantastic!! And it was absolutely fantastic!

Great hotel, with and animation team really amazing! I’ve met almost everyone that was staying in the hotel that period, just 'cause I participated in games during the day, and shows at night. I’ve heard that there are better animation teams but this one, for me, was very very good!

I can’t forget to mention that all the hotel staff (reception, “comedor”, bar, even the SOS of the pool - that suffered a lot with my dives in the pool) were all very friendly, nice and helpful.
Thank you all for a magnificent vacations I’ve had! I recommend this hotel to everyone!

Comments:  The holiday my wife and I have just experienced at the Negresso Princess hotel which lies on the outskirts (approx 20 min walk, or 10 min bus into Salou) of Salou, was absolutely brilliant.

It lived up to everything as described in the Thomson brochure and in many many ways went beyond expectations

The Hotel was spacious and clean.
The Staff, from the reception to the chambermaids, extremely helpful, they could not do enough for you.
The food was delightful, plenty of it, and it was hot (were it was supposed to be!)
The evening entertainment was good
the daytime activities by the entertainment staff was good

I have written also with these comments to Thomson UK and direct to the Manager of the Hotel in Salou

We honestly could not fault it, and we cannot understand why it is only rated as a 3 star. My wife and I are well travelled, and have stayed in many 4 star and 5 star deluxe hotels all over the world, some of which would have a struggle matching the Negresso Princess.

I do have one criticism, and it is, that on the day of departure,
guests awaiting transfers to the airport leave the luggage underneath the huge spiral staircase in the main lobby. Now this may be well and good. There is a CTV camera in the lobby pointing towards the main door, thereby filming people who came into the hotel, I did not notice one actually covering the luggage area, and if there was one, the reception staff were always busy with guests and no one was actually manning the CTV screen situated at reception.

We all know that it is a rare occurrence that someone can actually steal ones luggage, however what really concerned me was that someone (A terrorist) could actually COME IN and place luggage there, and we all know what happens from there, Spain has already experienced what terrorists can do!

I have pointed this out in my letters, and I hope that it is acted upon and that a more secure area is found for departing guests luggage.

Other than that, I can thoroughly recommend this hotel and resort, Brilliant!!
