Submitted By: Penny Edwardsson became quite ill. Bad enough to take him to hospital. My husband has since become
ill which we are pretty certain it was from the pool. Important to check that it is being cleaned and the filter system is working. We did not see it cleaned when we were there. Toilets not user friendly for children using the pool. Apart from the pool overall we had a lovely holiday excellent value and we went on a late booking. Problem with getting suitcases from bus stop is not very good. We travelled on the buses and taxis. If there is four of you it is as cheap to go by taxi to the waterpark and into salou. Our sons went on the pub crawl said it was good night and a way to meet other people. For night life you will need to go into salou and taxi prices are the same price 24hours a day. For a sunbed get down early with your towel or go after lunch around the pool! Entertainment is really geared for families with children. Most people seem to go for a walk in the evening or just have a drink or the terrace which is pleasant to do but can be a bit boring if you were there for two weeks and not have a hire car. But nowhere to park so easier to not have one.
Advice: Daytime very pleasant, weekends go into Salou a variety of differerent entertainment going on.
Activities: A good place to visit for local restaurants and scenic views would be Cambrils with a nice harbour.

Submitted By: nibblerThe television channels catered for everbody except the English! And I found that the staff were ignorant and very unhelpful. The hotel receptionists couldn't talk a word of English. The food was o.k but not great (bearable).
As for salou and the spanish people...... I found very arrogant and ignorant. I AM NOT GOING TO SPAIN AGAIN!!!!!! im going somewhere they can understand basic English!!!!!
Advice: DONT BOTHER!
Activities: anywhere away from salou and the hotel!

Submitted By: Miss K JarvisThe reception area was big and clean and the receptionist seemed friendly. I had emailed the hotel prior to arrival and had requested a sea view room which we got. The room had two double beds pushed together and was very small for two adults and two children, some of other rooms were bigger when we walked past and peeked in. We had a lovely sea view from our balcony.
The restaurant is located at the bottom of the hotel. Sometimes the lift works, sometimes it doesn’t so we had the carry the buggy down most days. You are shown to your table by a welcoming man, drinks are expensive. The food was not very good, I walked round the restaurant three times and couldn't find much I liked, most things were unidentifiable, I queued ages for some grill steaks thing that were being cooked and the guy before me in the queue took all of them but after noticing the chef cooking these items of food had enough sweat dripping off him to fill a pool and was doing nothing to stop it going onto the food I am glad the other people got them LOL. We ate out every night after that. The staff hover round your table waiting to take your plate and we got shouted at for sitting in the wrong place one morning. Breakfast was ok, some of the pastries were a bit stale some mornings and there were these things that resembled donuts that crumbled in your hand when you pressed on them due to being left out all week. The guests at the hotel were a mixture of French, Spanish and Russian, very few brits. So plenty of barging in and no queuing.
The pool area
Beds available until 9.30 most morning, same old story people leave towels on the beds all day and disappear out all day. I never seen the pool cleaned all week, in fact if you look closely you can see dirt on the bottom of the 2 pools and dirt in all the grill areas around the pool. The only time the area around the pool was cleaned was when they were anticipating a storm they rearannnged all the beds so the rain could clean the area.
The children's play area was a joke it was disgustingly filthy and tons of glass in the gravel, really really poor.
In the games room there were bare wires hanging out of the walls and blood on the walls.
Entertainment was geared towards the Spanish, which is fine as you are in Spain after all.
The hotel was about a 30 min slow walk into Salou. A taxi is about 8 Euros, the mini train was 7 Euros for two adults and 2 children. Bus stop at the top of the road. Avoid eating in the Knights Inn round the corner food was awful, some more restaurants in Cap Salou but never tried any, looked a bit of a dive, in fact the whole of Salou was dirty and disgusting.
The hotel has recently been upgraded to a four star, I think I would struggle to give it 2.
Also they leave the pool open all night, doesn’t close at 7 like they say, so if you fancied a quiet night you have kids screaming and diving in the pool until early hours. Also pets seemed to be allowed, they had a cat in the room next to us.

Submitted By: Miss Natalie EdgarOur room was situated at the back of the hotel so we didn't have the amazing sea views, however we did have a good view of the Platja Llarga (which is the walkway along the beach that takes you into Salou Centre) and partly a view of the sea. The location of the hotel isn't the best, there is only one shop across the street and a bar (Knights Inn - very good for food) and another shop around the corner on the way into La Pineda. However the beach is right beside the hotel and Salou Centre (which is where all the bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, amusements and the main beach are situated) is only a 15 minute walk away along the Platja Llarga. There are two bus stops across the street beside the shop, one which takes you into Salou Centre, Port Aventura and the other that takes you to La Pineda and Barcelona (the buses come regularly - about every 10/15 minutes). At these bus stops you can also take the train into Salou, Port Aventura and La Pineda, it is very enjoyable however it is slightly dearer than the buses.
I highly recommend that you go to Port Aventura for at least two days during your stay as it is an amazing theme park and also venture into La Pineda for the day. I also recommend that you take a day trip to Barcelona and see the sites or go shopping as it is an amazing day trip and it really makes your holiday!!
Overall this hotel is great to stay in, it has met all of my needs and I will definitley return to it in the near future! I highly recommed it! :)

Submitted By: K LaingFood wise................ not great, infact awful, however the snack bar by the pool provided great snacks at quite reasonable prices.
Finally the entertainment...... the reps and some outside entertainers did their best but the standard was very poor and I feel the hotel should certainly invest in a better standard of entertainment for the guests which should include entertainment for people over the age of 8 years old!

Submitted By: Miss C DawsonI could not fault the holiday at all, I enjoyed the location as I wouldnt want to be in the middle of Salou centre! Transport was very accessible with the bus stop located at the top of the road (2 mins walk) to Salou, Barcelona Tarrogana etc, Although I believe such a pretty resort has been spolit by 'The brits abroad bars and resturants' why not embrase the spanish culture.
The hotel its self as i said was very clean and the staff are friendly, plently of food to chose from, although as i only stayed for a week it was good, if any longer I believe it could be very samey!? Whilst we were staying there, the hotel is processing to a 4* although i believe it should stay a 3* they pool was not that big and towards the end of the week a lot of families arrived due to the spanish holidays and the pool became very crowded and on a few occasions had to wait for dinner. Although we didnt take any children, there isnt a lot for them to do and entertainment is very limited for them during the day.
Overall our break was very good and recommonded for all ages.
Top tips: Do try and speak a little spanish, just the basics and girls, take a small 'paperboy style bags', as the area is prone to pick pockets including men
" don't believe everthing you read.
we had a fantastic hol 2 children aged 18mnths and 4yrs and they loved it. You get what you pay for - 3 star accom, but 5* food.
down point no inflatables in the main pool just the kids pool which was a little on the small side.
Nice distance from noise etc.. of the main resort. Definatly for familys who want to see there kids and enjoy each others company.
Always clean and reception always helpful.

Submitted By: Mr G SargeantGood selection of food to suit all tastes, always of a good standard and plenty of it (take advantage of the dinner time wine menu, a really good bottle of white at 5 euros a bottle!).
Pool was clean, never too busy to use. Hotel is about a 20 min. walk from Salou centre, but reception staff were always more than happy to call a taxi if you didn't fancy the walk, again costing between 5-6 euros.
Would certainly stay there again.

Submitted By: Mrs D.M BullockThe room itself was basic but it had everything we needed; our sons 15 and 18 had one room and we were further along the corridor. We also hired a fridge which was really cheap.
The meals were all buffet and with plenty of choice which was always being replenished. Used cutlery and plates were soon taken away once used. The waiters/waitresses do not speak much English but work really hard.
Salou is only a 20min walk along the sea front. Salou reminded us of a hotter version of Blackpool; only with palm trees. It was also very busy. There are a lot of hills and steps around the resort. This may be a problem for some people. Transport isn't a problem. We visited Barcelona which also included a tour of the Nou Camp football stadium. We were there for 2hrs which, by the time we got into the city, didn’t give you enough time for site seeing.
We arranged all our own activities ourselves. At the top of the road you can hop onto a ‘Plana’ bus, which took you everywhere. They do however get really busy. Aquapolis Water Park is in La Pineda. We spent all day there and it was worth the money (same price as Caribe Water Park, but larger). There are no towels to hire. Also 'dressing rooms' are lockers and are to hire. We had 7day passes to Portaventura; we only spent two days there. Keep in mind on some rides you can be queuing for half an hour. There is a firework display at 11.45pm.
Cambrils is a beautiful harbour resort which has lots of shops and sea front cafés. This is 30mins away from Cap Salou via bus. Close to the hotel is English run bar/restaurant; Knights Inn which features an English menu. If you walk further into Cap Salou, you will find a chemist and Supermarket which sells fresh milk. I found a lot of the shops sold UHT milk.
We had a fantastic time at the Negresco Princess. There were lots to do; table tennis, darts, and pool, so our teens didn’t get bored. I must say the swimming pool was absolutely freezing.
Towels were always put over 'reserved' sun beds first thing in the morning. You can hire sun beds etc on the nearby beach. The room wasn’t cleaned as well as I would have liked but it was satisfactory. The noise from other guests was unbelievable, walls are thin and floors are tiled. You could hear people talking at 3 in the morning; no consideration. There seemed to be a high proportion of Russian tourists.
Over all we would definitely visit Negresco again........one day.
