Universo Hotel

I booked on line a single, standard room and requested a view of the piazza. My booking was handled efficiently online and my room was ready upon arrival.
The reception staff were very helpful. The Hotel is well located and is an easy walk from the railway station. The Hotel entrance is quite grand and the stairs and landings are spacious, but my room was a big disappointment.
It was little more than a box room and nothing like the photo on their website and the view of the piazza was blocked by the trees outside. The shower room was adequate although cramped.
There appeared to be no soundproofing and worst of all, no air conditioning. I spent two uncomfortable nights in a very hot room.
I considered my stay to be poor value for money and although I will visit Lucca again, I will not stay in this hotel.
