Monaco Hotel

we extended our stay in Portugal and decided to try a hotel near to the airport, so not much traveling to do. We were pleasantly surprised we checked in early morning our room was ready for us very clean lovely comfy bed, nice bathroom. We ate in the restaurant at night and had a lovely meal, even though it was very quiet. Breakfast was fine, although I was surprised it was tinned fruit not fresh same with the juice, because I had previously enjoyed a few glasses of their freshly squeezed juice. A lovely hotel for a nice quiet break. Certainly not the most buzzing Hotel I have stopped in, and a little reserved but the staff are quite friendly and the pool and gardens make the hotel. The rooms are quite well appointed and very clean. The location makes this Hotel more suitable for a 're charge' short break holiday, as it is a few miles from Faro. The little hamlet of montenegro is only 5 minutes walk. Would not reccomend for families as the hotel is very quiet and there a good few steps.

We have just returned from a 3-night stay at the Hotel Monaco in Faro. We read the reviews on this site before we went and agree that the location is not good if you do not have your own transport. We opted for this hotel as we were wanting a cheap 'city break' holiday with a bit of sunshine so were not expecting luxury. The staff at the Monaco were extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome. I thought the Hotel was fine. It seems like Faro is constantly expanding and there were various sites in the progress of being built. We went in February and it was lovely and warm (but the pool was freezing!). There's a huge supermarket on the road into the town and a shopping centre with plenty of places to eat - oh, and espressos are drunk by the gallon! The beach is not too far away, but the hotel provides a free shuttle bus and wiil take you and bring you back from the town or the beach at certain times with no extra charge.<br... more

My wife and I spent 1 week at the Monaco in June last year. On the plus side, the rooms are fine for the hotel classification, the service was good and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel has a comfortable bar with a large screen television. There is a pleasant but small pool area which was never crowded. One of the main problems with the hotel is it's location which is just off of a main road opposite an area of waste land (at least it was last year) and on the edge of a residental area.
