Ibis Faro Hotel

This was my second stay in an Ibis and may be my last. The room was very, very tiny, the bathroom too sterile-looking, and the staff overly curt. It was very cheap though, so I guess I can't complain too much. Additionally, as a city for a vacation, Faro is terrible, especially given its inflated European costs. If it was in a developing country where a good meal can be had for $5, then it would have been OK, but it was completely unacceptable for Europe. Great place to stay.Friendly and helpful staff.Very clean and well presented hotel.Only 10 mins from the airport by taxi (5 euros) and 20 mins walk into the centre of Faro.10 mins walk away from supermarkets and the Algarve Forum (large shopping precinct) Rooms airconditioned which would be needed by many people as you can hear the traffic noise from the busy road nearby and also the railway BUT this does NOT really detract from the hotel.There is a small bar which appears to be open most of the time and they also serve meals in the... more

The Faro Ibis is no different to any of the others in the same chain so most people will know what they're going to get. That said, it's only ten minutes from the airport so if you have a late evening arrival or early departure like we had, it's very convenient. Rooms are quiet and comfortable if somewhat utilitarian but at €39 per night plus €5 for breakfast, they offer good value. Fine as a one night transit stop.

this hotel is grand - standard travellodge type place. Rooms basic but fine amd very comfortable beds. Breakfast is again basic but fine, mostly cereal and bread, with only one choice of meat and cheese. Did have tea bags though which was great in my opinion!! Pool is lovely with very handy bar, lunch is standard fare but fine. Don't really recommend trying to walk into town - bus stop clost by with buses every few minutes into early evening or a taxi costs about 5 euro. Like all Ibis Hotels we stayed at on our journey to Spain & Portugal, the Ibis provided good, clean accomodations with helpful staff. We got a King bed, shower, TV with CNN or BBC (with video audio jacks in the front). Rooms are smaller than a North American standard, but normal for Europe. Staff were excellent, and like all Ibis employees, they all seem to speak excellent English. Restaurant was decent but still hotel quality food - it'll do fine for a quick bite. Just outside the town but only 20 minutes walk for us two oldies (67) to Faro Marina, there is also an excellent bus service and free car parking.The Hotel is first class and reasonably priced, good food and an excellent secluded garden with a lovely pool. There are fantastic beaches all around the area and a very good shopping precinct near the Marina. Not far from the Airport and lots of car hire companies nearby.

Although we only stayed for a few days either side of a trip to the Uk and back, we were very impressed with this hotel. The staff all spoke perfect english and were very pleasant and helpful, giving us detailed maps of places to go etc. The rooms are a little on the small side but very neat and tidy decor, no shabby furnishing! Food was excellent. Evening meals were first class and breakfast too. However we did'nt like the "camp" style coffee for breakfast is the only thing we have to say was not very good.

Brilliant member of the IBIS chain - location on edge of town centre only downside - easy for a car and airport but on a bus route. Rooms good, friendly servise, good breakfast and dinners at good prices. A nice surprise.

Nice place- decent sized room, clean, adequate restaurant, pool, etc. Courteous staff and good service. A little bit out of town, though- maybe a mile from the marina (the center of everything), but if you have a car it's no problem. Walking distance to the Forum Algarve (shopping center/mall). I'd stay there again.
