Stayed 10 km from Salla town, very small quiet place in the middle of nowhere but very beautiful and lots of snow. Not many runs for beginners, black runs closed. Locals friendly especially in Ski Centre and Ski School.
Stayed in Salla Cabins, pictures in brochure deceiving! Very small, not enough storage and shared with giant ants! For self catering there was no room food preparing. Although they had washing machine, dryer and sauna.
Choice of food limited and drinks quite expensive. Husky safari expensive but excellent.
Kids really enjoyed it, sledges provided for sledging. Swimming pool in the hotel.
Would go back again but different accommodation.

We stayed for five days in one of the cottages. The holiday was expensive, but we soon realised when we were there that you are paying for the memories, not for the luxury and this is one holiday the kids will never forget!
The cottages are lovely with log fires, saunas and the best invention ever... the drying cabinet, put all your soggy stuff in the night before and its dry as a bone in the morning ready to go again!
The food was a bit repetitive for the kids, chicken nuggets/fish fingers/burgers but they probably wouldn't have eaten anything else anyway!
The whole trip is dedicated to finding Father Christmas with the help of his elves and the location and attention to detail was fantastic. Got to go on reindeer rides, huskies, sledges and snowmobiles and even though it was cold, you barely noticed it due to the activities and excitement. Saw the Northern Lights one night which was fantastic.
Would not go again as it would not be so magical but would recommend it to anybody as one of the most memorable and magical holidays ever. However, Rovaniemi airport not the best to get delayed at so take gameboys/magazines/snacks for kids just in case!

We went to Lapland from 23-27 Dec 05. We had an excellent time I went with my husband and 6 members of family with a 2 year girl. The hotel was ok but very expensive without any luxuries. There are log cabins and rooms in the hotel we stayed in the hotel. The rooms were all twin beds with a shower, toilet and sink there was shower gel/shampoo supplied in the shower but no soap for the sink. There were very large dryers in the rooms for drying out your suits, boots etc. There were no kettles for making tea or coffee. The food was pretty much the same every night burgers, chicken nuggets and chips and some stews.
The suits provided for you kept you very warm and found I did not need any of the hand or feet warmers we bought with us. The outings were good fun we were out on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 10-3 (daylight hours) and tried snowmobiles, husky rides, reindeer rides. We all went to see Santa on Christmas Day. Our niece had an excellent time but think she was still slightly too young as was getting tired on the outings. On Boxing Day we were left on our own and the hotel is also a ski resort with 10 slopes and they provide free ski lessons and ski hire for you.
We did have a very good time but for the money I would have expected a more luxurious hotel. Also going over Christmas was very strange and didn't feel like Christmas at all, if we had known we would have gone another time but would recommend the trip. We booked through Canterbury Travel and all the guests in the hotel were with them.

Satyed at Salla cabins on a last minute deal. Was fantastic. Cabins were clean and had it's own private sauna. Dishwaser, storage for skis/boards, washing machine and a large dryer for boots, oven, microwave etc.
Log fire in lounge was fun too.
Was our second ski holiday of the year and was just so different we had a great time. Four lads and we enjoyed ourselves so much that I want to go back next year with my Wife and baby.
Everywhere in the resort is about a five minute walk away. Even when the lifts were closed it was easy to walk from one run to the other.
Had a great time and close to runs. Resort was very small and as an experienced boarder it was very nice to go somewhere so quiet. The slopes were empty most of the time but the runs were very short. If you want a different ski holiday than the normal European then go here.
Slopes opened around 10am and closed around 5pm with one opening until 7pm.
Food was good too. One bar which had a resturant which served a more up market type of food. Another bar near to the slope sold the more traditional type of food. Piza, burgers etc. Prices were pretty good too and were in line with Europe ski resorts and sometimes cheaper.
The one shop to get food was open daily ranging from 10am to 6pm Mon-Fri and 12pm to 8pm Sat-Sun.
No card machines in resort but all the places we went you could pay for cards, even for just a few drinks.
Resort staff were very friendly and nice people to chat with.
On the slope there were places to light a fire and cook your own food. A different way to eat (although there was only one or two of these they were not busy and with only a few runs to contend with were easy to get to).
Great holiday, great weather, people and accomodation. Loved every minute.
