eat, drink, enjoy but lock up your money!!
5 / 10
Aug 2011, s. davis - wales

the hotel itself was lovely, all areas clean and presented well. the bedrooms were comfortable but not very spacious - my daughther has a young baby and once the cot arrived there was very little room to manouvre. the pool area was lovely but the people queing at 8.30am for sunbeds, the pool not open until 10am, was pathetic and if you saw them running to get the best beds when opened it was unbelieveable.
we went all inclusive and the food could not be faulted, there was something for everyone and good variation at every sitting. the pool bar offers snacks which were also nice and cooked fresh not hanging around like some places. drinks available from 11-11 could have had a little more choice, quite limited although you do get 50% off if you choose something that is not included :)
the area itself was a bit too residential for our liking, although no too far from amenities.beach is about 5-10mins walk. a lot of quite rude spanish people in the hotel who thought it was their right to be there not ours, entertainment all spanish - i know we were in spain but we paid good money for this holiday and maybe one night of english entertainment could have been thrown in just to make us feel welcome as there were plenty of other english families staying there.
the one BIG thing which put a dampner on the holiday was the fact that the maid/maids who cleaned the rooms STOLE money from both our rooms , everything locked in the safe, nothing lying visibly around, they found it acceptable to rummage through the kids backpacks and take the money that family had kindly given them to go away. so if you do go here make sure you lock evrything in safe as STAFF are NOT TRUSTWORTHY!!
we went to salou for a chilling, relaxing holiday and we didnt intend to do a lot else, but if thats not what you are looking for it might be advisable to book somewhere a bit closer to the tourist areas.

We, as a family of 4 have just come back from a weeks stay at the Eurosalou. All we can say is that it was wonderful, excellent food, friendly staff, good entertainment, and standards of cleanliness were brilliant. It is most definately one of the best 3 star hotels we have stayed at and would recommend it to any family/older couple looking for a good holiday.

  • Advice: Very family orientated in the costa dorada area of salou.
  • Activities: Too many to choose one.

Before arriving to EuroSalou i read quite alot of bad reviews which some were very true indeed, The hotel itself was very nice and rooms where standerd for a 3star hotel apart from you has to basically tip toe around after 10pm otherwise people complain, while on holiday you should be able to have a laugh and a joke but in this hotel i found they just moaned it had alot of spanish quests in which were very rude towards the english and also didnt cater well for young people or english infact as the entertaiment in the evening was actually only for spanish really !!! staff were friendly and helpful,Food breakfast was absolutly horrible every morning was freezing cold so unless you enjoy eating cold beans i wouldnt go for breakfast but dinner was standered i quite enjoyed dinner.
The loction isnt great, i felt like the only english in town but the beach is a ten minute walk and it's a 25minutes walk to the english part of salou and night life, i would say defently have a walk down well worth it otherwise you will just be bored, taxi's arynt very expensive about 7Euro to main night life but all depends as they can over charge somethimes.
Portaventure was great very over priced but well worth the day out.
over all the holiday was nice for a break once you know where to go.

Before arriving at the Eurosalou I had read a few reviews, and to be honest they weren't that great. I started to dread the holiday before arriving.
On arrival at the Eurosalou I was very impressed, the lobby area was very clean and tidy and we did not have to wait too long for our rooms. On receipt of the keys I again began to dread the state of the rooms but these again were fine. Yes they are quite small but our holiday would not be spent in the hotel rooms but spent exploring the area. Four of us (2 adults, 2 children) stayed in these rooms but to be honest they are more comfortable for three persons but it can be done. Our room looked over the back of the hotel which over saw the pool and the evening entertainment area, this was great for us as the children were able to watch shows from the hotel room before going to bed.
The pool isn't that big but we all had fun, there is water aerobics every morning, and we mingled with the other visitors as many are from the UK. We also played water volley ball children against adults which got everybody involved.
The food was great, a different dish every day. There were different themed nights and different meats on offer. Everybody we spoke to enjoyed the food and had no complaints.
The reception staff spoke little English but you are able to have a conversation with them, but to be honest if you are going to Spain why not learn to speak the language before going there.
The late night entertainment is great for the children and adults as there is a mixture for everybody. We saw a Spanish themed dance one night, live Spanish singer another night and a spider man show another night.
I would definitely say that this is a great 3* hotel, but if you are looking for 5* pay the price as I have no complaints regarding this holiday at all. We all had a lovely holiday and will definitely go back again.

Have just returned from the Eurosalou...

Have just returned from the Eurosalou and overall we thought it was very good. It was one of the cheapest holidays we could find so didn't know what to expect but it was very clean and the food was very good. There was plenty of choice every night even for me and I'm a vegetarian. It was a about a 10 min walk to the beach and all of the shops and bars and Salou itself is a very pleasant resort. The rooms were quite small but adequate as there were only 2 people sharing and the cleaners did a good job. The worst problem was that some of the younger, english guests would return to the hotel in the early hours shouting and banging on doors. It was impossible to sleep whilst they were running up and down the corridors. The security man did his best but they were just very inconsiderate. We felt sorry for the elderly spanish people in the hotel. The bar staff weren't particularly happy but most of the hotel staff were pleasant enough. I would recommend the hotel if you are not too worried about a good night's sleep but that is hardly the hotel's fault!

Not one of the best hotels i've stayed in, rooms very small, all the same size so dont know how a family would cope as there was only 2 of us and we were cramped!! We were on a half board basis and the evening meals weren't very nice. over cooked, same food most evenings with not much choice and always cold. The waiters were also extremely miserable. The pool area is very small and not much room to sit around. It looks alot different from the brochure. It states in the brochure there is a indoor pool, jacuzzi and spa. All these are charged for which i think is a bit naughty as there not all that! The hotel costs enough and these should be included in the price. Salou was very nice as a town and we had great weather. We would def go back again to Salou but stay in a different hotel.

This hotel was a total...

This hotel was a total dissappointment, on arriving at the hotel the reception area looked lovely, when we went in our room there was a stale smell, i went to reception and they said they would sort it, when i returned to the room i found they had just sprayed bad air freshner to mask the smell making it worse.
We left it at this but then the next day we could hear squeaking coming from the air con my partner investigated only to find that there were birds nesting in our air con the maintenance men came trying to coax the birds out by tweeting at them, the reason they got in was the trunking outside was damaged and looked as though it had been for a while, after unsuccesfuly coaxing them out they came with a serving fork and got the birds out this way three baby chicks and just threw them in the bush below and sprayed fire foam in to the hole now even cleaning the nesting out properly.
The hotel was full of school children and football teams, none of them let us in the lift with the pushchair and we have a 2 year old and the only other people on our floor were football youth teams who were banging and screaming all night and even ringing our door bell, i complained to the manager but wasnt moved and didnt really get an apology,
Dont go to hotel with children as pool was being spat in by footballers and spanish were very rude, Food not very nice.
Overall unhappy and felt unsafe in this hotel.

Hotel nice and clean, room was tiny...

Aug 2007, Mr D Wilson

Hotel nice and clean, room was tiny for 2 adults and 2 kids. Had 2 double beds pushed together in one room, felt like the seven dwarfs.
Food nice if you’re not fussy what you eat, plenty of selection though. Not much in the area for a night out. Had to go to centre of town which is not close by as stated in some reviews.
Hotel to the main bars is not any closer than one mile, takes a good twenty minute walk.
Hotel pool is not the one that you can find in the pictures, its tiny and the sun doesn’t get over till afternoon.
Nice if you want early nights and no noise.

My partner and myself have recently...

Aug 2006, Mr J Parvin

My partner and myself have recently returned from our holiday, although there were not many British holiday makers, we didn't really notice, most people at the hotel just got on with their holiday.
Staff within the restaurant were helpful and the head waiter was nice to everyone, the only downfall was the reception staff didn't speak a lot of english, it didn't stop us communicating with them though.
Our room was of a good size, we had a TV which we only watched once as there were plenty of things to do in the area. We had air conditioning which was remote controlled and the room was cleaned daily and there was plenty of storage for clothes. The balcony was overlooking a different pool to our hotel but again, so much to do that hanging around on the balcony would have been a waste. There was building work in the area, but whatever time you returned to the hotel throughout the day, you wouldn't have noticed and we never heard a sound. In the room you could hear a pin drop, it was peaceful and quiet.
The food in the restuarant was nice, there were usually about 6 choices of main course, with loads of cold meats, salad and a whole variety to suit most people, along with a stack of desserts to choose from, the puff pastries with cream were lovely, you could quite easilly pile on the pounds. Breakfast was plentiful also, full cooked or continental, there was plenty to pick from. Generally the food was great, no fault at all.
The entertainment was ok but with so much to do, you could pick and choose if you wanted to stay in the hotel or go out for something a bit more lively. Our rep told us of loads of stuff that could be done and we joined her a few times. The disco in the hotel was quiet, not many people went to it and it was a shame, if people had gone there then it would be much better. Drink at the hotel wasn't the cheapest, but it was still cheaper than prices back home!
Overall, I would go back to this hotel again, it cost us £700 including our airport transfers, well worth every penny.
We found the beach to be really nice, it was clean and there were loungers and parasols if you wanted to hire them, the beach was busy but not overcrowded and you could always get within 10 metres of the water. The beach front was decked with lots of shops and cafes, we were only approached by a few people touting business for restaurants, but they were friendly and sociable.
The reps pub crawly is nice, you get taken to a few local places, all within reach of a taxi, the area was safe to walk around and we walked back to the hotel frequently. The House of Illusion magic show is pretty good, you get free beverages all night and the magicians are good quality.
Port Aventura is fun, it is within walking distance but takes 25 minutes, taxi is 8 euros, there is a novelty bus that is 3 euros, its cheaper and you get to see bits of the area that you might miss, we done the water park and the theme park on a 3 day pass, theme park has some big rides, Dragon Khan is good but you do feel a bit rough coming off it. The water park only has a few slides, but between the pools and the slides you will have a lot of fun, one note though - do not hire out the rubber rings, you only need them for the pool, because when you use the slides, you can borrow them free of charge! The only problem with the theme park is, the shows in the evening are too close together in time and too far apart in distance, you need to have quite a lot of time to get to see them all, even so, they are entertaining, we saw a guy blowing bubbles and it was fascinating, the other show we saw was tribal dancers, they were talented and entertaining.
Overall, we could not complain about our holiday, it was enjoyed from start to finish. The weather was stunning too.

Direct Holidays claimed that the hotelier had overbooked our original choice of accommodation and so we were sent to this dump.
Vomit on the stairwells, unruly Spanish teenagers, dirty crockery/cutlery or none at all, poor selection of food, queues for food, cramped rooms (health and safety implications), one person lifts, ignorant/unhelpful rep - Steph.
Better to stay at home.
