My husband and I have just returned from a Christmas 5 day break at the Claymore, and we really could not fault it on anything, apart from my hubby said his mattress was a little hard, but hey your staying in a hotel and all mattresses are not going to be to the liking of what your own mattress is at home, not in any hotel. I mentioned how we were enjoying our stay to one of the managers, and mentioned the mattress, he offered to change it for us, but I did not take him up on it, but the offer was there. Our room overlooked the Loch as I paid a little extra, and we had no complaint at all with our room. The food was excellent at every meal time, especially breakfast, could not fault any of it, Plenty, three courses etc, the staff were excellent, very proficient, and everthing ran like clockwork. I enjoyed the entertainment every night, especially Boxing night, when the staff make a real party atmosphere with party hats, streamers etc etc. well done to Elaine she makes it great and how she can carry on singing with the comedian in the background making us all have esterics I dont know how she does it, but she does. We heard some niggles from folk mainly about the smallness of their room and bathroom, but some were very large people, and I can imagine if you get a small room not so nice, but we went with National, had the chance to pay a little more for a room with a view. All in all we had a great holiday, and just to mention our driver Les who was also great, mind of information, saw to everthing for us, great bloke and brilliant driver. Thanks again National we will be backto the Claymore.

Just spent a 3 day break at the Claymore Hotel, booked through National Holidays..Rooms were basic but clean, food good, but portions were a bit meagre..But all in all you get what you pay for.Free bar, a good do, but didn't take advantage of it...Views from the Hotel, stunning, overlooking Loch Long..Enjoyed the excursion to the Falls of Dochart, and Callander..Should have stopped off by Loch Lomond but due to bad Weather our Driver decided to take us back to the Hotel. Was quite disappointed as was hoping to take a good few photographs..Would certainly visit again..
- Advice: A camera is a must.

My wife and I have just returned from a short break at this hotel, reading some reviews I wondered if we were all at the same hotel as our experiences were so differrent, the food was not bad the staff were friendly and the service in the dining room was excellent but what a let down the accomodation was, our room was dated the floors sqeaked continuosly bodged up bath screen general flooring and decor dated infact I woudn't even give it a star rating, added to this was the journey and what a journey especially on trips out over the cossacks by the relief driver we were thrown about by this drivers inconsiderate driving skills as he threw the coach at speed around the bends on narrow roads it seemed as if we had to arrive at our destinations a.s.a.p and then be bored out of our skulls for hours and at some cost to ourselves wondering around small shopping areas which all had sililar themes had the journey on these outings been better then there was some lovely scenery to see which was the point of visiting this area not to wander up and down high streets that all looked the same and final point was the driver on our journey to this hotel and back left a bit to be desired as he also had disregard to his passengers by his speeding on minor roads all in all not a pleasent break and not to be repeated.
- Advice: Hotel needs updating and drivers to be made aware of the travellors requirements i.e. to enjoy the scenery

I stayed at the Claymore as an all-inclusive short break with National Holidays. After booking I read reviews for the hotel and was expecting the worst. I was very pleasantly surprised; our room, number seven, was very clean, well appointed, and very comfortable. Meals were served very quickly by our own dedicated waiter Vlad, the menu was varied with something for every taste. Food was beautifully cooked and presented; portion size was very generous even for a large eater such as myself!
The lounge bar was tastefully decorated and had calm, relaxing atmosphere, the free bar being a definite plus point. Free entertainment was provided every night in a dedicated room and although not to everyone’s taste, was very enjoyable.
The hotel is in a fantastic location on the very edge of Loch long with spectacular views.
All staff were very helpful and polite and extremely hard working and made our stay a real pleasure.
The hotel is rated as “Two Star” but compares very favourably with much more expensive establishments I have stayed in.
In summary I had a very happy stay at the Claymore, it is possible to find fault with the slightly dated décor but considering the price I paid it would be very unfair to complain about anything. I would recommend the Claymore to anyone.

national coach driver simon needs a good joke book.(lol) but was great fun. hotel is really in need of bringing up to date with the room furnishings. coridors leaked etc. staff were friendly enough, food was ok. really good singer/comedian (cant remember his name but he was so funny). all in all its ok for a couple of nights. but the tattoo was brilliant even though it bucketed it down for the full duration of our 3 day trip

Stayed for three days, hotel needs loads of tlc, hotel needs new beds as they are tilted and lumpy, furniture dropping to bits, bathroom shocking!, toilet seat didnt matchen systen, and not fascined down correctly, shower was built in a cupboard under the staircase, anybody using the stairs made the shower shake, at one point thought the ceiling was going to collapse, no pressure in shower, we think staff quarters were above the room, food was awful, whatever you ate the night before you got the next night this was the so called chef special!
Bus driver was brilliant, couldnt fault him, he was lovely and friendly. the day trips were good best part of break, the view from hotel was excellent, we didnt ask to be moved out of room as paid extra.
seriously dont recomment hotel! stay away!

Have just spent 5 days at this beautiful hotel with National Holidays, all staff were friendly and helpful, especially the hard working dining room staff, who went the extra mile to make sure you had enough to eat, were served speedily, however the food wasn't always hot enough. Good entertainment each night with free bar. Rooms were clean and had self controlled heating which was brilliant. Hotel is in a lovely setting with beautiful views over the loch. One negative point and it was a serious one, the dining room, bar, corridors and function room were bitterly cold. This was not good for the guests as the temperatures were very low with severe frosts. However would love to visit again when the weather was warmer.

Just came back from spending 2 nights, 3 days in total with National Coaches a trip and found after a few trips that this was the best. the Hotel was great, I asked for a room with a shower and with a power socket next to the bed, we were situated in room 2 with all which I asked for plus more a great view of the loch, excellent. Elaine the manager was a great performer on the 1st night, entertainment and the staff were fantastic, did all they could to please guests. The 3 hours free bar, the Hotel could do with 2 lots of queues, 1 for the free bar and another 1 for those who want to pay for their drinks. Other than that I could not fault this Hotel and we plan to go back again, me and my husband. Many thanks to Elaine and all the great staff there.

My wife and I have just returned from a National Holidays Beautiful Scotland trip. Some of the hotel reviews would really make you think again, but I am glad I only read them after the event as we actually found the hotel to be very good. The location cannot be faulted situated as it is on the banks of Loch Long. The staff were all very friendly and especially the dining room staff who go out of their way to ensure that dining is a good experience. The rooms were clean and despite being quite old were in an acceptable condition. My wife is an ex (top hotel) head housekeeper and believe me when I tell you she can be very critical. She has a habit of running her finger along ledges, looking under beds etc.
All in all we had a very good experience and I must give a mention to our National Holidays driver (Les) who not only had a great knowledge of the areas visited he also had a good degree of wit and humour. As it turned out he was not a bad singer and entertainer too. We will be travelling again with National Holidays as they certainly do go that extra mile to provide an enjoyable experience.
