Comments:  Came back on Sunday 27th July after a 2 night break at the Claymore. The hotel was brilliant, our room was small at the back of the hotel with not much view but does it matter your only in your room to sleep and the room itself was very clean. The food was good with a wide choice. We asked for some more bacon for breakfast and it was given to us no questions asked, very very nice waiter. Entertainment was good even though we didn't really go into entertainment room. We sat ourside as it was very hot and unfortunately got bitten by the gnats.

Now for the coach trip - what can I say.... absolutely disgusting. The driver was useless. Took 2 hours to go 26 miles, no not hold-ups - he got lost trying to find his way to M6. He didn't tell us anything informative about the countryside/lochs etc. It ended up taking him over 10 hours to drive to Scotland purely to him taking the wrong turnings etc. Better on the way home but still he said nothing to us. Don't think we will go with National Holidays again, even though we have been before and had good drivers this has really put us off. The Hotel, now that's another story, would certainly go back there but next time for a little longer.

Comments:  Just had a wonderful weekend at the Claymore Hotel, we were a party of 10 and all enjoyed our stay. The staff were all very helpful and polite and put themselves out to make our stay run smoothly. There was a choice of foods always with a vegetarian option, all served direct to our table. The coach driver kept us all informed about the places we visited and gave us a tour guide whilst making our journey. We all really had a wonderful time and would definitely return for a longer stay and would recommend this trip to anyone.

Comments:  This was a 5 day break taking my mum and Aunt (combined ages 170), and I was a little apprehensive after reading the various reviews. The hotel, however, was great. Check in swift and efficient, rooms were clean with fantastic views and the beds comfortable. Admittedly, the paintwork could do with a bit of a scrub, but the bathroom ceramics were squeaky clean. The complimentary teas and coffees were plentiful and restocked each day. The meals were superb, with plenty of choice and plentiful portions - I am a veggie and was most impressed with the meals offered to me. The staff were cheerful and helpful, so much so that after the first day my mum and Aunt's juices were waiting for them each morning!
Granted the evening entertainment was a bit cheesy, but they are catering for diverse ages, and the Elvis impersonator was good fun. The service at the free bar was prompt and empty glasses were cleared from the tables continuously.
All in all, we had a fabulous time and I would certainly go again.

Comments:  Having booked a short break at the Claymore Hotel for myself and a friend, I was quite apprehensive after reading some of the reviews. I need not have worried, the hotel was clean and the food was excellent, the staff are hardworking, efficient and always pleasant. We had a lovely break and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Comments:  We have just returned from a 4-day break and were very disappointed with the accommodation. The room was very dirty, TV no picture suitable for watching and the extremely small shower room barely had space for toiletries for one person, let alone a couple. The room we stayed in needed gutting from top to bottom and a thoroughly good clean! The food was not particularly good - very limited menu/vegetables and not always hot! The hotel needs to invest in an outdoor smoking area as all the smokers stood immediately outside the entrance which was not pleasant. They also need to get some kind of pest control to prevent gnats getting in the reception where were badly bitten at night. Would neither return nor recommend.
Ron, our driver was excellent and actually made the holiday enjoyable.

Comments:  The bad Points:
Bedroom: The rooms were small, the TV wall mount was inconviently placed and unsafe, the wardrobe door fell of every time we used it, there was no shower in our room, the bath got thin in the middle which made it uncomfortable to sit in.
Meals: The meals were insufficitent, the service was very slow at times at one point we had to wait 45 mins for our starters.
Entertainment/room: The main entertainer was a bad choice, she couldnt sing, the room was far too small and couldnt seat everyone comfortably.

The good points:
Bedroom: The bed was HUGE and very comfortable, there were adequate tea and coffee making facilities, the view from our window was fantastic, which pretty much made up for every bad thing about the room.
Meals: Although they were small they were very tasty, there was a fairly good selection of food on the menu, the catering staff were very friendly, though they didnt speak much english, which could be frustrating at times.
Staff: I would like to mention that the hotel manager and Mark, the bar manager, were extremely friendly and very nice people.
Location: Absolutley stunning, ideally located for a quiet holiday with pubs shops and a resturant within the village.

The free drinks at the bar were an added bonus once the queues died down.
Overall we would stay here again.

Comments:  Been to this hotel recently. The food is a bit basic, plentyful and sufficient, the staff are friendly and helpful, can't do enough for you.
the rooms are basic, you get what you pay for !
The highlight had to be our wonderful driver Gary, he took us to some wonderful places and his knowledge of the area and it's history was second to none !
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and will be booking again, this time for the five days.

Comments:  Just got back from a National Holidays Scotland inclusive with Mike the Driver from the Hull area. quite a few pick ups on the way, we were picked up at 7.10am in Beverley, and we picked up in Cottingham, Hull, Hessle, Elloughton, Brough & Goole, so quite a few, but the coach is comfy, with a loo. Stops are frequent, and you get enough time for a lunch, arriving in Arrochar about 5pm. we had a great loch view room, a bath, which was a little fiddly for washing hair, but the hotel had lots of new shower trays in the lobby, so I presume they are slowly renovating the rooms. the food was great-we are veggie, and had 2 choices per evening-salad or -1 night was veggie chilli, another a feta crown, and breakfasts had veggie sausages too-my eggs were cooked to perfection every time.
The bar was offering Worthington's creamflow bitter, Carlsberg lager, grants whisky, lambs navy rum, juices, lemonades & diet varieties. Timing was strict, but the queue went quickly, as no money changes hands.
Entertainment was not to my taste-singers & bingo every night-more your ballads & 60's songs-only 1 Scottish dancing medley was heard!
Each days tours take you out from 9.15 to 5pm. We stayed off the coach 1 day to climb the Cobbler mountain-well worth it-but bring the proper equipment-boots etc to do that.
The views are to die for, and there are plenty of shops nearby for cigarettes, sweets, sandwiches etc. there are also a few restaurants, a chippie, and 3 pubs around too.

Mike the driver is very well informed, and will look after you all the time. If you go say hello to Rogan & Josh, the resident very friendly Ginger Cats.

Comments:  My boyfriend and I stayed at the Claymore Hotel booking via National Holidays. I took him as a suprise for his birthday as he had always wanted to go to Scotland and we found the whole package thoroughly enjoyable.
We are both in our early twenties and were a little nervous that the holiday would be catered for the older generation but we found it great! It is what you make of it!
The holiday did get off on a rocky start as the coach had a few problems causing a few delays so we did not arive at the hotel until 6:00pm but as soon as we pulled up the views from the hotel made up for the bad start ten times over!
I had pre-booked the only suite in the hotel as it was a special occasion and although old it was amazing - you could not ask for better views from your room - they were just breathtaking!
The food was not fantastic but more than substantial, the entertainment was good too, but all the better with the free bar! A little overcrowded but that just added to the atmosphere!
Upon leaving we felt like we had been there a lot longer than just 2 nights (In a good way) and would definately go back again! For the money I just can't see how anyone can grumble as I would personally pay just for the views surrounding the hotel!
All in all we had a fantastic time - and would definately return! If you are thinking of going just book and see for yourself - it's not like you will be losing hundreds of pounds! As long as you don't go expecting the Hilton, and are prepared for a basic but lovely hotel with phenomenal views I can personally reassure you, you will not be disappointed!
Happy Holidays!
