We have recently returned from a 4 day stay at the Claymore Hotel. The hotel was very basic but was very clean. The staff were very pleasant in the restaurant and couldn't do enough for you. Thank you for excellent service Mint and Gabriella. There was also quite a good choice of food available.
We booked it through National and our driver Kevin was brilliant and very entertaining with his jokes!
We visited some lovely places. The people we were with were all very friendly and we would recommend the trip to anybody that asks.
One tip though, ask for a shower in your room if you want one because some people got baths.

We booked our holiday through National Holidays. We had looked on this website before we went on our holiday and were a little aprehensive because some of the reviews were scathing, but to our surprise it was really really good. We had a basic clean and comfortable room which didn't have a shower but you could ask at reception for a tap adaptor, the towels were changed daily and the beds were made daily (even though we had tidied them up ourselves the tea and coffee was replenished daily. The food was excellent a good choice of all meals which was ample (we have very good appetites) the staff were all very nice and efficient in all aspects, something which is very hard to find nowadays. The entertainment of an evening was very good with the free bar it was very enjoyable. The trips out were very well organised and we enjoyed the lovely views. All in all very good value for money, so much so we have booked to go again in September to see the views in a different season. We thank all the staff for a very enjoyable stay. The Hotel is in need of some renovation externally but we went to Scotland to see the views which we did and not as building inspectors.

Just got back from a 4 day Break at the Claymore Hotel. At first I was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but once there I quickly realised that there was no need.
Firstly I agree that the room that I stayed in was basic.....However it was clean and we received clean towels daily and it served the purpose. Also the food and service was excellent, each night there were 4 choices of each course. I'd read that the portions were small but both myself and my GF disagreed as each night we left the restaurant feeling suitably fed yet not managing to finish off the vegetables (We are both early 30's with good appetites).
After the meal it was time to enjoy the free bar and entertainment. At 7.30pm when the free bar opens there is a fairly large queue, however this disolves after 10 minutes as the 3 staff working behind the bar a quick and very pleasant. The 3 nights we were there we were entertained by Ian B, Vince and the excellent Clive, each night had a bit of something for every one, be it live Music, quiz, bit of bingo, highland dancers and a bit of a disco to round the night off.
The trips were well organised with great commentary from the drivers, I especially enjoyed the cruise on Loch Lomond.
All in all a great trip......People say you only get what you pay for but with this trip you got so much more. I look forward to returning.

Went with National Holdays and although Charlie our driver didn't offer much information about the places we were visiting each day he was an excellent driver.
The Claymore Hotel has a wonderful position on the Loch and it was full of visitors. The view from our rooms was breathtaking but unfortunately our first reaction was dismay, mainly at the floor coverings. In the corridors and bedrooms (we were two couples in rooms 315 and 317) the carpets were very shabby and dirty and in need of at least cleaning or at best removal altogether. Didn't think to specify a shower in the room but there was lots of hot water for baths.
We were apprehensive about the rest of the Hotel but the dining, reception and bar areas were fine. The food was good and the young Thai waiter was courteous, efficient and always smiling. We enjoyed our weekend and considering the price it was value for money. It's a pity the Hotel can't afford to refurbish the rooms to a decent standard.

Returned from the Claymore Hotel with nothing but praise for the Hotel, overall holiday and value for money.
Hotel was basic, but very clean. Good twin-bedded room, clean fluffy white towels, comfortable clean beds, shower with plenty of hot water, and even a hairdryer provided. Food was very good value for money; staff excellent; evening entertainment very, very good. Would recommend this holiday to anyone wanting a short taster holiday in Scotland. Only regret was that we only booked the 3 day break - would go again but this time for longer - to see more of Scotland. Coach driver Jeff also very nice and took us to some lovely locations.

Just come back from 4 day tour staying at the Claymore Hotel. From start to finish it was excellant our coach driver Graham was a mine of information and his jokes which were none stop had us all laughing and made the journey go so quick. The hotel was clean and warm with fantastic views over Loch Long, the food was very good and ample with a good choice of menu. The service in the restaraunt and bar was very quick (especially Tremseck and Ted)even the entertainment was good. The tour was well organised and enjoyable will certainly be going again.

Hotel view excellent, we had the Heather Suite(Honeymoon Suite)the views were out this world. Bathroom very large but had no shower, the sink was loose as was the vanity unit.It was very clean though.
The food portions were poor for anyone who is younger than pensioners.(the men got the same amount as the women)
Staff were all excellent bar staff, reception, house keepng they were wounderful and pleasent.
Would stay again but only if I could have the Heather Suite again.

Travellers Beware.... The Claymore Hotel, Arrochar.
1.. Dirty, cold and very rundown.
2.. Sub standard housekeeping.
3.. Very poor quality food.
4.. No picture reception on bedroom tv's.
5.. Poor entertainment.
6.. Staff don't seem bothered.
7.. Very noisy, beware if staying on lower floor, can actually hear people using the
bathroom on the next floor up!!
8.. Definetely not suitable for people with babies or young children.
Only stay at the Claymore if you intend to spend more time out of the hotel than you do in it.
