My husband and I spent 2 weeks here on honeymoon and found the hotel, staff, rooms and food excellent. It has 300 guestrooms equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV, personal safe and best of all mini-bar and 4 optics all filled every other day.
We did run out of beers a few times and phoned reception and they sent someone to top up almost immediately. The hotel has 2 very good pools on sight. 1 is extremely busy and the other is more relaxed and at times we found it to be just the two of us enjoying the area. There is a very friendly lizard {quite large} which stay round there in the shade of the trees. We had him feeding from our hands within days.
The food in the main buffet area was fantastic, morning, noon and night. The Maria Bonita Mexican restaurant is open for dinner and we had no problems booking dinner there on any occasion. The food is a little challenging but never the less its well presented, very colourful and extremely tasty. The hotel also has a pool snack bar but I didn’t use it as the staff are round both pools a few times a day with cocktails and soft drinks as well as popcorn, fresh fruit and afternoon sandwiches.
The entertainment at the hotel was good with plenty of kids entertainment early on. There is also a disco on site called pasha but I never went so cant tell you much about it all i can say is that it is well out of the way of the rooms and we never heard anyone late at night coming back from it. There is a very relaxing spa with great back massage and they can even do it beside the pool.
The hotel is situated on a huge golf course which makes for some very interesting walks. We found beautiful waterfalls and lakes with spectacular wildlife and birds.
All in all we had a wonderful time here. The staff made our stay with them fantastic and the bar men and women were second to none. Beware the tequila slammers. They knock your socks off. I highly recommend the margaritas.
The down side to our holiday is that it has no beach near by. Although there is a free shuttle bus that runs every 15 mins from the hotel it can be crowded and very warm on board. The shuttle bus also stops at Playa Del Carmen shopping area which i thought was great. Everything is alot cheaper there and the people are always willing to do a deal. This area is very heavily guarded by armed police but they are friendly and are there so prevent people getting forced into buying from street sellers.
We were on the beach on day and a street seller was trying to sell us some silver necklaces. The guards saw him and arrested him.
They beach is beautiful. Powder white sands and clean blue seas. Watch out for the waves. Some days they can take you off your feet. The hotel also has a beach bar and snacks bar right on the beach so no need to come back to the hotel for food or drinks.
I would recommend this holiday to couples or families looking for a quite location with beautiful scenery in a tranquil setting. A+.
