had a fantastic time here at playa park, food was excellent loads of choices , all the staff were really friendly especially chris who ran the kids club he was fantastic would definitely go back again the kids loved it, the only problem was the beach it has about a hundred steps going down which is ok its coming up thats the problem, across the road is a fantastic english bar called vals they were very friendly, the pool at the hotel is lovely but freezing cold but considering how hot the weather was it was nice to cool down, went to portaventura theme park it was excellent well worth a visit a word of advice it works out cheaper to buy your tickets at home
the nightly entertainment was fantastic the kids loved it again chris was brilliant and considering he was on his own he done a fantastic job he is a credit to the hotel

This was a fantastic hotel. The staff were the best I have ever experienced - they couldn't do enough to help -Jesus the bar man was amazing and Paula in the restaurant was really helpful.
We travelled as a party of 12 - we had 4 children in the party aged 2, 4, 7 and 10 - they had a fantastic time.
The rooms were cleaned everyday and the bar and pool areas were always spotless.
The onlt let down about the holiday was the lack of childrens entertainment - this didnt spoil our holiday though - I would definately go back to this hotel!!!
Keep up the good work x

Apr 2008, Miss L M Hiscock

The hotel was clean, well located and served a good variety of food.
However, a major loophole in the hotel's security procedures tainted my holiday. Keys were given out at request, requiring no proof of identification. During my stay, a high number of thefts took place, including 60 Euros from my room, jewellery, an ipod, a mobile phone and a wallet from others.
When we complained, hotel staff treated as a matter of insignificance, we were told it "was not there problem".
On my last night at Salou, the spare key to my room was given out to an unknown person. This was clearly very upsetting, resulting in my roommates and I feeling very unsafe.

Feb 2008, Mr V Moriarty

Booked this Hotel as a result of good reviews on this site.
Nice location and fairly close to beaches. Situated on a steep hill so not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Food was good but night time entertainment was so loud it could be heard several streets away, so certainly unsuitable for people with young children.
We found, to our cost, that the hotel accomodates large groups of children on school trips several times a year. As a result our second week at this hotel can only be described as an absolute nightmare. The unbearable noise would begin from 7.30am until after midnight each night. Complaints from us and other guests to reception staff, some of which were extremely rude, and the manager, were totally ignored.
Would not under any circumstances recommend this hotel.

Dec 2007, Mrs F Venning

Me and my husband took our eldest here to Salou as my husband had been before when he was a lot younger, and we both wanted to visit Port Adventura theme park.
The overall feeling of the place was very friendly and the bar staff where great. For a 3 star hotel it had beautiful marble flooring throughout but that can be a bit of a nightmare when returning from the pool.
There was a large variety of food and catered well for the kids (even though my son lived on chips for tea and buns for breakfast) and there desserts where amazing.
The pool wasn’t very large and in the middle of summer you can imagine how packed it got, the entertainment was a bit dry and boring and there was no entertainment for kids after 7pm so my son became very bored.
But overall the holiday was lovely and hotel was extremely nice to stay at.

Oct 2007, Mrs L Mellor

I went to Playa Park for 3 years running, first in 2003 with my husband and son and then in 2004 with a party of 11 family members and again in 2005 with a party of 16 family members and each time we had a fantastic holiday.
The food is fantastic I defy anyone not to put weight on! The hotel is clean and all the staff so friendly. There was loads to do for adults and kids and we are definitely planning another trip there in the next couple of years.
Recommended trips: Port Aventura don’t miss it and the jeep safari is worth a go if you get good weather.
Barcelona is easy enough to get to by train and the zoo is well worth a visit.

Three adults in their fifties, 2...

Sep 2007, Mr R Dunn

Three adults in their fifties, 2 ladies with mobility problems returned to Salou after 20 years, staying at the Playa Park for 7 nights.
This hotel is very impressive, spacious, airy, with about 4 lifts to all floors, the rooms are comfortable all with air conditioning and central heating television with remote control (a hotel that doesn't hold you to ransom for a remote how great is that), bathrooms with shower and bath, toilet and bidet.
Linen changed every two days, maids are very good and have done when you return from breakfast most days, the staff are great very helpful and friendly.
The pool is cold first thing because it is not heated so after midday is good, mattress’s for sunbeds are 1.25 Euros for the day, the pool has the huge bar and snack bar as one, there are waiters about all the time so you don't have to move if you don't want to.
The entertainment team (whom I must say are incredible) start at ten each morning with events all through the day with shooting, water polo and a whole host of games for adults and children until ten in the evening so children and adults are awarded certificates at the prize giving show every evening.
The evening entertainment is great different show each night but it does go on until 12 midnight.
The restaurant is on the lower ground floor the staff show you to your table so you must wait a minute or two and don't forget your meal card to show, the food is fabulous buffet style, so much choice even for the pickiest of eaters hot food is continually replenished by catering staff, the desserts are gorgeous. I swear I gained 5 pounds with all the wonderful food.
They do have themed nights such as Polynesian nights or Mexican but there is always something for everyone as this hotel caters for several nationalities.
My only criticism though small is having to clear your own table at meals can be a bit irritating other than that no problem.
There is plenty of transport from outside of the hotel local buses and cabs but I do recommend that you take the road train for 3 euro's you get a tour of Salou which takes about 1 hour 15 mins but is totally worth the trip and it drops you back at the hotel door, if you want to buy water sweets food the supermarkets are across the road or down the bank about 30 yards.
The small local coves and beaches are worth a visit not crowded and sheltered and a better place to get a tan, all in all I think it is a fab hotel and would recommend it to anyone everything is easy to get to.
Lastly I would “strongly” recommend you go to the welcome meetings, it does make being on holiday a heck of a lot easier and maybe a free night out, I swear.

We had a wonderful holiday.
The Playa Park Hotel was excellent. Very well maintained and clean.
Restaurant - plenty of choice and quantity to suit all needs.
Staff excellent and could not do enough. We had our 4 year old grandson with us and he was spoiled rotten by the staff.
Hotel within 5 minutes (or less) walking distance of a beautiful bay. Sandy beach, safe for bathing with lifeguards on duty all day.
Short walk to public service bus stop and again short/cheap journey to the Universal Theme and Water parks.

Sep 2007, Mr C Ashton

We are a young couple and we were looking for an all rounder holiday and this is a great Hotel & location, Salou is clean & tidy, the people are all very friendly and we experienced NO trouble from anyone at all!
The Golden Playa Park hotel is great for families, groups, & couples of all ages. very clean throughout, room attendants are quick and very thorough in the mornings!
The food is excellent, we stayed half board, and the evening meals were superb, as much as you can eat and it's all really tasty, and the breakfasts are to die for (champagne breakfasts if you can handle it!).
Happy hour in the hotel bar is great value for money and the evening entertainment is free and good for a laugh!
Beaches, pubs, shops & bus stops are all really close by, and the nearby clubs are close, but, far enough away so as they don't disturb you!
If you're thinking of going to Barcelona for a day trip, I advise to go by train as the bus takes over 2 hours!
GO TO Port Aventura, its Fantastic! And the Aquapolis Water park at La Pineda is worth going to and is bigger and better than the Water Park in Port Aventura!
Check Where you are flying to and I advise to AVOID REUS Airport, Barcelona is a bit further away but is a lot bigger, friendlier, and more organised!

Sep 2007, Mr

Me and my girlfriend went for 2 weeks and had the best holiday ever. We're both 19 and were looking for a ‘chilled’ holiday and I actually can’t think of any bad points concerning this hotel.
It was cleaned every day, good choice of food, nice clean pool, the list goes on.
Salou is a nice resort, brilliant weather and some nice beaches. Barcelona is a must-see, brilliant city.
Overall, it’s a fantastic place to be!!

Sep 2007, Mr P Fisher

Weather:
Perfect - sunshine for a suntan and very humid with an occasional breeze which meant it wasn't unbearable heat.
10/10
Hotel in general:
Situated a couple of hundred metres from both a small cove and a medium sized beach accessible by a large set of steps downwards (all uphill coming back though!) we had a beautiful sea view form our room. Great value for money, the rooms were clean and tidy and were serviced ever day without fail with beds changed, towels changed and floors hoovered.
10/10
Hotel food:
We stayed for a week and there was a different food theme practically every night from Chinese to seafood along with a regular choice of pork, chicken, and regular stuff like burgers and pizzas and salads if the food theme didn't take your fancy. No problem finding food for kids either. We have a 15, 12 and 5 year old and they were in their element choosing from the large range of food and desserts available. The actual quality of the meals without being outstanding was more than adequate
9/10
Hotel entertainment:
The entertainment team themselves were friendly. There was a different evening show every night some of which were better than others, whilst daytime entertainment was pretty good for the kids with various competitions from 10am till teatime and a mini disco every evening prior to the main show.
We never intended to spend too much time around the hotel during the day due to the attractions in and around Salou but this was a perfect hotel if you want to be somewhere clean that caters for your needs to a decent standard
9/10
* Would have no qualms recommending the hotel to anyone.
Salou attractions:
Salou is a lovely seaside resort, generally populated by Spanish and British, plenty of British themed pubs mixed in with bars and cafes of practically all cultures. Loads of shops for your souvenirs down the main street which runs down to the main beach of Salou which was packed. About half an hour to walk from our hotel to the main beach although it took us about 1 1/2 hours by the time we'd finished looking in the shops.
Portaventura theme park is a must if you have kids, only quarter of an hour from hotel give yourself the full day here as it’s a big area to get around and the largest 5 or 6 rides can have waits of 1 hour or more, although there’s plenty of others that you get on within minutes.
The Aquapolis water park was brilliant. Again 15 minutes by bus, kids and adults can’t fail to make a great day out of it.
10/10
Barcelona:
A 1 hour coach ride away, you got to try to make time for this remarkable city. We went on an excursion which gave us 5 hours free time and the fountain show at the end which is out of this world. Some of the things you have to try and see are the street artists down the rambles, the Gaudi cathedral and the nou camp football stadium for the fella’s which I just about crammed in
Other-most people speak some English, prices are similar to here, although you can pick up a bargain or too at the places where you can haggle. Easy to identify where you can do this
OVERALL:
Highly recommended place for a mixture of sun, sand and activity for families.
9/10
