Just returned from 2week stay. Was very pleased with the food, staff etc. Plenty activities for the children at the hotel run kids club. There was plenty of loungers and none of the rush of placing towels early in morning (didn't encounter any Germans!). Hotel entertainment not the best, but some acts were worth watching. Only downside was room faced onto main road so heard a lot of passing noise in early hours. Decided this was preferable tho to noisy guests either side of my room and stayed put.

There was plentiful fresh fruit available at every mealtime and a basket of washed fruit taken round the pool areas every afternoon for anyone to choose from. Now where have you ever seen that before? I certainly haven't. The dining room staff never objected to fruit being taken away for later consumption. Breakfast catered for the cold meat and cheese fans, the cereal lovers and those that liked a cooked breakfast (but it was Spanish bacon - streaky and boiled)
The smaller pool got the sun mainly in the morning and the larger one got it mainly in the afternoon, so why the complaints?
The restaurant coffee was awful but there are masses of cafes close by that serve up a decent mug of coffee or tea. I hold my ground. The daily joints served at dinner were hot tasty and tender and varied - pork, beef, lamb, chicken/turkey - and were accompanied by dishes of well-cooked vegetables which any Brit would recognise; not just the usual 'al dente' semi-raw veg that Europeans love.

Playa Park is a large hotel but never seemed really crowded as there was plenty of room for everyone. The food was much better than expected from a Spanish 3* hotel (going on previous experiences) and it was HOT - which is almost unique in Spain. Cleanliness excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Too helpful perhaps - they let our grandaughter into our room without any evidence that she was who she said she was.
Beaches within walking distance and town centre a very gentle 20 minute stroll. I'd recommend it to any age group. Elderly or arthritic guests should insist on a low level room as the main snag was the single small lift that went to the -1 floor where the dining room was......at peak times you could wait and wait and wait for the lift to have space in it.

We arrived on 9th june 09 in the evening , the restaurant was closed but they leave something out for us to eat ie salad , salami , bread etc so that was fine .
First impression of hotel was lovely and clean , rooms were fine lovely veiw fantastic air conditioing (which we needed everyday it was so hot). The general location of the hotel is great , with a beach a stonesthrow away down some steps (also there is a sloping rd to get to the beach if you had buggys ).The main street is about 5-10 minutes walk with shops bars on the way . We often called in at Sinatras near the hotel for a drink the entertainment was good in there .We had 2 children with us age 9 and 13 both loved this holiday .The food was great in hotel especially fri night Gala night if you love sea food you will be in heaven on fridays .We had good choice of food everynight with lots to fill everybody up even fussy eaters would struggle to not fine something they would like .There was a huge meat joint being carved everynight .The pool area was lovely and it does get very hot after about 2pm .We went to port-aventura this was great but very tiring day out and hot too .We went for a meal at uncle sams BEST RESTAURANT EVER ! fantastic food and service and huge portions too .Charlie chaplins bar great for kids and entertainment saw Hannah Montanna show my 9 yr old loved it .Over all we couldnt find a single thing to complain about .Felt sad to leave .

Just got back from a 2 week stay, half board at Playa Park.
We were worried about our family being split up as we have 4 kiddies but were given adjoining rooms.
Cleanliness throughout the hotel was faultless! Fresh towels & maid service daily.
Kids loved the 'Mini Club', 'Aurora' & 'Chris' (the hosts) were great with them.
Food was fabulous with varied dishes daily & desserts to die for!
Drinks are not included with evening meal & can be costly. 1 litre bottle of water for dinner is 3 euro!
Pint of draught local beer is 2.70 Euro! I remember several years ago the local beer being less than a £!!
Take a travel kettle as there are no tea/coffee making facilities! (We would have been glad of that advice!) lol
Salou has become a little seedy in parts but we had a trouble free fortnight with glorious weather!
We found it quite expensive as the exchange rate for the £ is so poor at the moment. E.g- a McDonald 'Happy Meal' costs approx £3.50!

I've been reading other people's reviews and I can't believe how bad they say it is!
I absolutely loved this place. Yes, people smoke but they don't have the same laws there as they do in the UK.
The rooms were fine-you're only there to sleep! The brochure does tell you its on a hill and so people with walking difficulties shouldn't really stay there. The buses were fantastic, and the town itself was lovely.
The magic show was hilarious and fantastic - they said everything in English, Spanish and French, and sometimes German if a German child was up on the stage. The only downside to the entertainment was that it didn't stop until midnight and its very loud when you're in the pool view room.
The bar staff were lovely - especially Jesus! (yes thats his real name) He would take the time to come talk to you and make jokes.
The food was ok...my boyfriend is mainly a meat eater and so he found everything great - i'm a bit picky but I ate most of the stuff. There are lots of restaurants and cafes so you can always go out to eat - you also get to see the nightlife! - so you can do something about it. And why stay permanently at the hotel next to the pool? Get yourself down to the beach - the one closest is GORGEOUS - and we visited three different beaches (the main beach in Salou is the busiest, virtually standing room only!!). Also, go to Port Aventura it's amazing! And if you want more pools then go to its water park.
I absolutely loved this holiday, it was the first with my boyfriend, and we can honestly say that we would definitely go again.

we have just arrived home from the hotel playa park. This is a great holiday for adults and the kids (mainly teenagers)because there is a great selection of entertainment and there is a games room for kids and teenagers. The hotel was very clean and the waiters were also great. The food was great but we thought they wernt much choice of food for children unless they are a little fussy. Also the town near the great beaches was full of brilliant bars and shops and good things to buy.On the whole this was a great holiday and i would always stay in the hotel playa park if i was to come back again. :)

Just arrived back from Salou and had a lovely stay in this hotel. this is the first time I have given a review and also the first time I have awarded 10 rating.
The food was excellent and enough choice for everyone.
This hotel is very well organised and the staff were very friendly.
My friends were staying in hotels nearby but were amazed at the difference between the hotels and were so jealous of me when they visited.
I could not find any faults and would highly recommend
As for the sun not being over the pool,..it was so nice not watching people fighting for a sun bed early in the morning.
The beach is within walking distance, get yourself back for happy hour at 5.45 till 6.45 and top up the tan while you have a couple of drinks

We have just come back from the playa park hotel and read all the reviews about this hotel before we went and to be fair as reviews go, they are about spot on, hotel is very clean, rooms nice but basic, tv is ok if you like BBC News 24(it's the only english channel if you get my drift), staff very friendly and pleasant, we wasn't to happy with the food one of the worst hotels i've been in, 3 star is about right but at the lower end of this scale, no worries about a sunbed by the pool they're always empty due to the fact that the sun is only on the pool 2 hours maxium a day, but the beach is only a 5 minute walk away , bus are easy to catch just 5 minute down the road to salou and right outside the hotel for Barcelona which is well worth a visit, salou is ok but if you like your lager stick to bottles it's crap on the pull in most of the bars, a good place to eat is sinatras take a left out of hotel carry on walking down hill about 5 mins its on your right, and be warned this hotel is on a hill what ever way you come from on and its a hill.
We went with thomson, and to say the name they have got i was uterally disappointed with the rep as he never turned up for the welcome metting on the sunday and we we were given 2 time to a attend there on that day and both time he was a no show we found the thomas cook rep a lot more helpfull and more pleasant, the time we saw our rep was on the wed and he asked us then if we had come for the welcome meeting that day, yes pointless when we only had 3 days left of our holiday he never gave an explanation as sto why he never came the welcome meeting that should have taken place on sunday so be ware of the thomson rep he is a complete waste of space.

Hotel is situated on a slight hill about 10-15 minutes from resort centre, though you walk past alot of bars and shops there which is handy if you want to see what entertainment they have to offer at night.
The best things abouth the hotel are:
Very friendly staff and entertainment team
Rooms and hotel are kept very clean
Shows at night are not bad, although it is up to you if you stay in hotel.
Bus stops just outside hotel for neighbouring resorts and poraventura park (Buy tickets online or from holiday operator before you go and save a small fortune).
Negatives are :
The food is a bit repetitive and pork seems to be on the menu all the time. although to be fair, on the nights where you get a bit of choice meals were okay.
Pool is a bit shaded from the sun so is always freezing cold.
Also machine near reception selling cold drinks which are priced 2 euros each (supermarket acros the road and about 30 yards down sells them for 50 cents so buy any soft drinks there.
A good tip : if you get offered a pool or sea view, ask for pool view as any view of the pool also gives a sea view also.
Barcelona is well worth a visit but best to take train (12 euros return) and takes about an hour and a half. Get off at second stop once in Barcelona and you are basically in the centre.
All in all Salou is a nice friendly resort probably more suited to families and couples.

Just arrived back from holiday at Playa Park Hotel, Salou. Hotel fantastic, rooms cleaned daily together with fresh towels, even though label on bathroom wall states that towels will only be changed if put in bath. Never put them in bath but had clean towels daily. Reception staff very friendly and helpful, bar staff and waiters always ready to help and entertainment staff also friendly, helpful and seemed very, very happy in their jobs, speaking at least 3 languages. Food for a 3 star hotel fantastic, thought we would probably eat elsewhere a few nights just to have something different but we didnt, we used the restaurant every night and was well impressed with the gala night on the Friday. Even the restaurant staff dress up and the decorations in the restaurant are brilliant with obviously alot of time spent preparing them. Pool only sunny in sections until about 3pm but beach very close by so visited the beach and came back to pool at 3pm and then stayed for happy hour. Lager also at cheap rate between 7-9. Overall had fantastic, although very hot, holiday and would recommend this hotel to friends and would also wish to return ourselves sometime in the future.
