Just arrived back from Salou and had a lovely stay in this hotel. this is the first time I have given a review and also the first time I have awarded 10 rating.
The food was excellent and enough choice for everyone.
This hotel is very well organised and the staff were very friendly.
My friends were staying in hotels nearby but were amazed at the difference between the hotels and were so jealous of me when they visited.
I could not find any faults and would highly recommend
As for the sun not being over the pool,..it was so nice not watching people fighting for a sun bed early in the morning.
The beach is within walking distance, get yourself back for happy hour at 5.45 till 6.45 and top up the tan while you have a couple of drinks

We have just come back from the playa park hotel and read all the reviews about this hotel before we went and to be fair as reviews go, they are about spot on, hotel is very clean, rooms nice but basic, tv is ok if you like BBC News 24(it's the only english channel if you get my drift), staff very friendly and pleasant, we wasn't to happy with the food one of the worst hotels i've been in, 3 star is about right but at the lower end of this scale, no worries about a sunbed by the pool they're always empty due to the fact that the sun is only on the pool 2 hours maxium a day, but the beach is only a 5 minute walk away , bus are easy to catch just 5 minute down the road to salou and right outside the hotel for Barcelona which is well worth a visit, salou is ok but if you like your lager stick to bottles it's crap on the pull in most of the bars, a good place to eat is sinatras take a left out of hotel carry on walking down hill about 5 mins its on your right, and be warned this hotel is on a hill what ever way you come from on and its a hill.
We went with thomson, and to say the name they have got i was uterally disappointed with the rep as he never turned up for the welcome metting on the sunday and we we were given 2 time to a attend there on that day and both time he was a no show we found the thomas cook rep a lot more helpfull and more pleasant, the time we saw our rep was on the wed and he asked us then if we had come for the welcome meeting that day, yes pointless when we only had 3 days left of our holiday he never gave an explanation as sto why he never came the welcome meeting that should have taken place on sunday so be ware of the thomson rep he is a complete waste of space.

Hotel is situated on a slight hill about 10-15 minutes from resort centre, though you walk past alot of bars and shops there which is handy if you want to see what entertainment they have to offer at night.
The best things abouth the hotel are:
Very friendly staff and entertainment team
Rooms and hotel are kept very clean
Shows at night are not bad, although it is up to you if you stay in hotel.
Bus stops just outside hotel for neighbouring resorts and poraventura park (Buy tickets online or from holiday operator before you go and save a small fortune).
Negatives are :
The food is a bit repetitive and pork seems to be on the menu all the time. although to be fair, on the nights where you get a bit of choice meals were okay.
Pool is a bit shaded from the sun so is always freezing cold.
Also machine near reception selling cold drinks which are priced 2 euros each (supermarket acros the road and about 30 yards down sells them for 50 cents so buy any soft drinks there.
A good tip : if you get offered a pool or sea view, ask for pool view as any view of the pool also gives a sea view also.
Barcelona is well worth a visit but best to take train (12 euros return) and takes about an hour and a half. Get off at second stop once in Barcelona and you are basically in the centre.
All in all Salou is a nice friendly resort probably more suited to families and couples.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week and over all had a good time. In general you cannot complain about the cleanliness of this hotel, they cleaned the room everyday and the maids were very pleasent. We had a gorgeous view from our room over the sea, and the room had the best air con system i have ever experienced! The reception staff were very nice and helpful as well. We stayed full board for the first time here (we normally do self catering) The breakfast and lunches were totally fine, and the times they are served are also good. But i must say, we are very un-fussy eaters, and the dinners were not that great! To be fair they do try to cater for everyone, but it was not amazing. You can live on chips or bland pasta, but the meat was horrible! This may of been a one off though, as i know the other reviews on food are good. I would not let this put you off staying here. The only other thing i found an issue is that there is no sun on the pool what so ever until about 3pm, but there are a number of beaches very close by. I never experienced the entertainment, as we are both in our early 20s so not really our thing! But a lot of families seemed to stick about for it so it must of been good enough. I was very impressed that the hotel offered a shower for anyone who had a late flight and could not stay in their room all day, this is rare in a hotel! The bars, clubs and shops were just a short walk away, which is also ideal! And if you stay here, make sure you do one of the Barcelona trips! this was a highlight of our holiday and the bus comes right outside the hotel. If you fly to reus aiport then the taxi is only about 15 mins away and about 30 euros without a tip, so not bad. Overall the hotel is good, just watch out for the dinners!

We had a lovely holiday it was really nice weather was gorgeous and the hotel was clean, the cleaners did our room everyday. The food when we first arrived was nice with plenty of choice. But as the holiday went over the food declined in quality and got really repetitive. The pool which was a big attraction to the kids was a massive disappointment it was freezing and i mean freezing it wasn't cold it was like the arctic it was what i would imagine the swimming in the ice caps would be like. On the plus side the staff were great with the kids. They had a brilliant kids club and a minidisco everynight as well as nightly entertainment some of which was brilliant to watch. we went to porteventura and the water park which were great and well worth going to however be warned there aren't many rides for kids under 1 metre 20 i lot of them you can go on with them. the water park was brilliant massive wave pool and loads of slides for the kids as well as you. the shows in the theme park were amazing especailly the chinese acrobats in vivo a mexico they were brilliant and the bubble show for the kids they loved that. All in all we would definitly vist salou again would choose different accomadation

Just back from a week in the playa park hotel 11 of use went ranging in age from 12 months to 70 we had a great holiday.we never arrived at hotel till 12 at night and they had layed on food for us which was great as the kids were hungry.the rooms were very clean and ready on arrival we had 3 rooms.the reception staff were very helpfull anytime you needed them.the pools are a bit small but anytime we went to pool there was always free sun beds and chairs and the pools have enough room for everyone to enjoy them.there was a great selection of food at meal times there was a lot of fish which i dont eat but there was lots of salad and different dishes .everyone with us had plenty to eat and found something they liked ,fresh fruit, salad, veg, deserts, breads ,cheeses.the restaurant staff were great and very friendly cound not find fault with anyone.the entertainment was good the kids loved the shows which are out side around the pool area at night .the bar staff was great really friendly and the bar had a great atmospher.for the week we were there it seemed to be all familys great for kids and no fighting or trouble at all.the main salou beach is about 10 mins walk which was great my 70 year old father was able to walk it but if you are feeling lazy the bus stop is just out side every 10 mins.super market across the street .the only thing i would say if you are taking kids watch them at pool as life guard is not great one little boy fell in and he never saw him but his father was there so all was ok.i would recomend this hotel to anyone and cant wait to gat back.

STAYED AT THIS HOTEL FOR 2 WEEKS IN MID AUGUST THE STAFF ARE MOSTLY FRIENDLY APART FROM THE 2 BALDING BARMEN (GRUMPY OR WHAT!!) THE ROOMS WERE PRETTY BASIC,A BIT DATED BUT WERE CLEANED EVERY DAY TO A GOOD STANDARD.SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX IS AVAILABLE AT A COST OF 48 EUROS FOR A FORTNIGHT WITH A REFUNDABLE IO EUROS ON DEPARTURE.THE HOTEL IS SITUATED IN A GOOD LOCATION FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THE MAIN STRIP SO NOT GETTING ALL THE NOISE FROM DRUNKEN REVELLERS BUT NOT TOO FAR SO YOU CAN EASILY STROLL INTO TOWN DURING THE DAY.WE DIDN'T CARE TOO MUCH FOR THE FOOD,ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A GOOD SELECTION THE QUALITY LEFT A BIT TO BE DESIRED,(MAYBE WE'RE JUST TOO FUSSY??).THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS A BIT CHEESY, OK FOR THE KIDS BUT NOT REALLY FOR THE ADULTS JUST REPEATED FOR THE 2ND WEEK OF HOLIDAY.THE POOLS ARE OK, YOU GET THE SUN AT THE SMALLER OF THE 2 POOLS IN THE MORNING BUT YOU HAVE TO BE QUICK TO GET YOUR TOWEL ON ONE 1ST THING!! OUR BALCONY LOOKED DOWN ONTO THIS POOL & WE HAD GREAT FUN WATCHING THE 2 ENGLISH FAMILIES I MAY ADD (NOT GERMAN) BOOKING THERE BERTHS EACH MORNING.WE ENJOYED SALOU IN GENERAL & WOULD GO BACK IN THE FUTURE.

We (myself, husband and 10 year old daughter and mom dad and 3 year old niece in another room) have just arrived back from a two week stay in Salou for our 3rd time however this time we stayed at the Golden Playa Park Hotel. Before my holiday i read many reviews saying how excellent the hotel and entertainment was so i was looking forward to going. After returning i think i must have stayed in a different hotel to the others in the reviews.
Firstly we arrived at 12.30 mid day to find that neither mine or my moms rooms were ready so we had to wait about with our cases, however it was only for half an hour so did not mind too much. Then we went to our room and i was not impressed with the cleanliness of the room. There was a used cotton bud on the bathroom floor and a clump of hair stuck to something very sticky on the sink unit that my husband scrubbed off. Throughout our stay i did not find that the rooms were cleaned properly either , we would often come back to find hair on the floor and i dont think the bath was ever cleaned. We were also in one day when the maids came to clean our room and she just wipped a dirty mop over our floor and we could smell dirty water and bleach for the rest of the day. We also had a nasty smell from our toilet for most of our stay.
The food was good. For breakfast there were cereals, bacon, sausages, beans, toms, bread, toast, fruit etc every day. The evening meals were ok but towards the end of the holiday we were getting fed up of the same old food mainly, pork, fish, chips, not much veg, plenty of salad, a small selection of cakes.
We did not see any reps in our hotel however we had a number to call if nedded to.
The entertainment was poor. We were there for 2 weeks and the shows were the same for both weeks. This included the Mexican show, Flamenco dancers, (how many times can you watch this) Then there was Miss Playa Park and Mr Playa Park - People from the audience competing for the place. There was a magic show that we could not understand a word of because it was in Spanish (the whole lot) and then there was a snake show which lasted about 10mins and then the snake was took into the audience for the rest of the time for photographs to be taken.
Each night they played bingo for really crap prizes like a rubber ring or a cd box and pack of cards. We could not understand the numbers they were read out in French, Spanish and English but because the rep was not english 17 sounded like 70 and so on. The bingo was supposed to start at 8.45 but did not start until 9.00/9.15 - mini disco was supposed to start at 9.30 but did not start until 9.50 then was rushed for a quick 10 mins cause the show started about 10 ish.
There were 2 bald bar staff who were quite rude and never smiled and when we asked for something becuase they did not understand us very well they would pull a face say what and shrugg their shoulders.
There are 2 small pools therefore the kids were not allowed to take inflatables into the pool ( this is something you usually do on a holiday)
Despite this review we had a great holiday. We love Portaventura and we like Salou however this time we did feel like we were living in a huge ashtray for 2 weeks. There were cigarette ends all over the beach, in the water parks (even when queing up for the water slides) and Salou town was full of them.
In the hotel I had to shut my balcony window cause i could smell smoke from people on the next balcony. People smoked around the pool and during the evening we were forced to sit inside to watch any entertainment because sitting outside was like sitting in a cloud of smoke and even then it floated inside.
Golden Playa Park does not really cater for the English. There is alot of Spanish, Polish and Germans there and they all have different habits and ways of behaving (some not to my liking) such as picking up food with hands at the buffet then putting it back. I would not recommend this hotel to other English people. I have stayed in far much better 3* accomodation such as the Venicia Park which is on the same road as the Playa Park. If you have already booked this Hotel I would change it.

Can't fault the transfer from the airport to the hotel with in half an hour to the hotel. Hotel is not a very good three star everyone we spoke to in our fortnight in this hotel was swopping places to eat, including us. One week was more than enough to put up with chips and pork on the buffet every night, was that bad my son refused to eat breakfast with us. The hotel is clean but not up to our normal standards, the hotel rooms are dated (1970's) we would not mark this hotel as a three star plus.
As for salou the beach is a dirty, and the town in just as bad there is rubbish every where. Will not be returning or recommending to any one!
The trip to the Bona vista market was a waste of money would not recommend it to any one.
Port aventura was the highlight of our holiday.
Cambrills is very pretty and would recommend this end of the resort.
I know this isn't a very good review were not snobs but have tried to be truthful so you dont't make the same mistake as us.

Fantastic hotel, brochure doesn,t give it justice.Food is excellent the restaurant staff brilliant.Hotel has it,s own entertainment team,Julian,Sara and Chris they are what makes the hotel such a special place, they create a lovely atmosphere for everyone to feel welcome.Activities day and night if you want it.Location is around the corner from main strip which is perfect to sleep away from all the noise and close enough to walk to when you want.Three beaches within walking distance.I can see why so many people we met there have been back again and again.I would recommend this to anyone.

The staff in the hotel were very friendly, the evening entertainment was ok but found much better entertainment in another hotel. Food was nice and varied each night of the week, food was constantly changed with fresh food which was good. Hotels rooms were cleaned every day and were very nice. I would definately go back to this hotel only problem i found was that it was at the top of a hill so when walking back from town centre it was a bit hard, overall very nice hotel.

Myself, wife and teenage daughter have just returned from staying at the Playa Park in Salou. A fantasticly located hotel just 5 mins from 2 beaches and 5 mins from the town centre of Salou.
Travelled with Thomson, ontime and efficient with good customer service. We landed at Reus Airport, previously a small military Airport that is under construction (with the Spanish pace of life - will take some time to be completed!)
Hotel 10/10
Hotel approx 20 mins from Airport so you definately do not listen to planes going over every 5 mins. On arrival reception staff very efficient, pleasant and welcoming. A large hotel in 2 well sized blocks and catering for disabled. All areas of the hotel are spotless and constanly being cleaned by round the clock cleaners. The hotel has a medium sized pool which was always spotless and enough sunbeds for all. Staying at the hotel were prodominantly English, French and Russian/Polish but all seemed to get on fine. Rooms are clean and functional and cleaned every day for the period of the stay. A safety deposit box booked at reception will cost €48 of which €10 refundable at end of stay on return of key & lock.
Restaurant 10/10
The hotel has a Restaurant to die for. Very efficient, great variety and 100% quaslity for the total time of our stay. We never saw anyone struggling witht he variety and quantities as the restaurant is buffet. At breakfast free champagne is available if required and on Friday evenings again a free glasss of champagne is provided. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and you can soon strike a friendship up with them.
Location 10/10
The hotel is site at the top of hill so those with walking difficulties beware - BUT directly outside the hotel you can jump on the local public transport service (Buses) every 10 mins to take you either to Salou town centre, Cambrills, Tarragona etc or La Pineda and the waterparks. The cost of the public transport was very reasonable with most single journeys costing between €1-3 each. You are a 2 hour ride from Barcelona which costs €20 for return travel.
10 mins in either direction and you can reach the Port Aventura or Aquapolis both are excellent and good value for money. Each cost approx €25 per adult for the whole day excluding the travel on the bus. Both well worth the visit as a great day out.
Entertainment 8/10
Overall the entertainment was Ok with different acts from traditional spanish dancers to magicians, snake show and Grease as performed by the local reps. As with all holiday resorts the traditional bingo is available along with kids mini disco and the shows rotate on 2 weekly basis. Obviously due to the location of the hotel you are certainly not trapped with the centre of Salou on 5 mins walk away full of bars and discos catering for all.
Overall 10/10
An excellent holiday with the weather glorious and the hotel to match. All staff very friendly, facilities and rooms well maintained. We would fully recommend using this hotel as our selection was previously taken from using the reviews and we were not disappointed.

This hotel is a good 3 star hotel in a great location although it is on a hill and surrounding paths can be quite steep to get up and down. On other holidays, fridges and safes have been included in the price of the holiday so I was shocked to find that I had to pay for them seperately, fridge and safe cost 40 Euros each per week so that's one hundred and 60 Euros for 2 weeks, so budget for it just in case. Check with travel agent.
All the staff are lovely, hotel is clean, rooms cleaned daily but our floor didn't get swept for a couple of days which I thought was really bad. Food is ok but not great, not much choice of veg for the main meal, mostly salad stuff and different meats, nothing was really authentic either, the spaghetti bolognaise, chinese, mexican or curry was really poor, the salad bar and deserts didn't change much and although there was always alot of fruit, alot of it was unripe. You won't go hungry but you'd wish they would do different things.
The pool is small and basic, entertainment quite good. Other guests and children really nice and well behaved, no noise at night.
I have stayed at better hotels but they have been 4 and 5 star, this one is ok for a 3 star, you get what you pay for.
