The Wheatsheaf Inn Hotel

We did not stay there. But we decided to have a look at the rooms for future plans and have some lunch. Everything seemed OK. Lovely Hotel and venue but was very dissappointed with the manageress and her attitude. They had stopped serving lunch at 14.30 and we decided to have a few drinks. We were told that someone would show us the rooms but no one came around and then when we decided to leave. The manageress then accused us of stealing a book of the shelf. Very strange indeed!! just returned from a 3 night break at this beautiful hotel. could not fault anything, room 2 absolutely lovely, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Kelli, Christy, Jo, Peter and Trudi were all absolutely delightful, made our stay so relaxed. Returning in november and looking forward to seeing them all again and also socks, Kelli's new puppy.

There are many good things to write about our stay, the friendly atmosphere, the inviting/ family run feel. The food was also lovely, and breakfast included was a bonus. What was dissapointing however was the room. We opted for the standard double, as i was told the large double was only a difference in room size, not bed size. We found the bed pretty small (presumably a double not a queen), although not uncomfortable. The more annoying thing was the floor boards above the room. The Wheatsheaf Hotel was an excellent find. The service is friendly and makes you feel like a regular, even though we had never been here before. The room was large, clean and comfortable with a bed even we got lost in. As for the food, the menu at first appears like a 'gastro pub' type menu, but the food you receive is anything but. I had the half a crispy duck, while my wife had the seabass and both were delicious with a service to match. My partner an I have just returned from a short break in Gloucestershire. We decided to stay at the Wheatsheaf Inn Northleach. On arriving at the hotel we were met with a friendly family atmosphere, we were taken up to our room which was immaculate and very stylish but still felt homely and cosy. We couldnt find one fault with the room or the hotel at all and it appeals to all age groups. The Wheatsheaf is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are maybe a little small, but wonderfully comfortable. The staff was as nice as they could be. They really went out of their way to be helpful. The restaurant is excellent, we ate dinner and breakfast there and couldn't have been happier. Northleach is as cute as a village can be, with lots of great hiking. I can hardly wait to go back.

I have to say, reading some of the older reviews of the Wheatsheaf Inn really does not give this place the justice it deserves. First of all, ALL 8 of 8 rooms have been impeccably renovated. Our room (room No. 2) had tiny personal touches that made our stay feel like we were right at home. The bed not only looked warm and inviting, it was very comfortable! What a fantastic place to stay - recently refurbished and under new ownership...we could not have asked for more. The bedroom (Suite Room No2) was beautiful. The food both a Breakfast and evening meal was superb. The hospitality of the owners was a delight. When we left this morning, we were made to feel like long lost friends....it made a real change, I stay in hotels most weeks with my job...and I can quite honestly say this was one of the best I have ever stayed in in this country.
