" entertainment!! "
Submitted By: kevin from wolvesThis is a good hotel which could be improved with a little tweaking. Maybe some free ice cream for the kids, only large tubs with a cornet would be nice. Times of bars opening needs to be changed depending on where the entertainment is taking place.
That leads me to the entertainment team. They do not work hard as previous reports have suggested. Entertainment consists of darts at 10.45 for adults, water volley at 12.00 for adults, water polo for the adults at 3pm and rifle shooting at 4pm yes you guessed for adults. This was great for me but not so good for the wife and 10 + 14 year old kids. Kids club was a video or colouring aimed at young kids my 10 year old went once and left half way through as she was bored. The entertainer did not notice her and her friend had left the room!!! At 9.30pm there was a kids disco 4 records, that was it!. This we and other guests did not find good enough for a family hotel. A surf board did appear after complaining to craig the thomas cook rep,for 15 minutes but again adults went 1st and this only appeared for my final 2 days. I felt the entertainment manager was not interested in kids at all.Entertainment in evenings was very good when outside entertainers came in, This happened for 5 evenings in my 2 week stay. Bingo and raffle a big con!!!. Also if you win a free family portrait beware don't buy all the photos just buy the ones you want. You do get 1 free worth £3.
Advice: loads of bargains at hotel market.
Activities: turkish bath
Good for: Beach
" Home from Home "
Submitted By: lindasootyFrom day one and point of entry, the staff cannot do enough to help, we always found the receptionist happy and eager to help with every request, advising us where to go and how to get there.
The food is amazing and if you cannot find something to suitable to eat here you are totally nitpicking. We stayed 14 nights and the menu was never repeated. The omelettes were to die for, I had one just about every morning.
Yes there were some flies, but you are in a moutainous region, I loved the chickens that ran freely about the grounds and the tortoises that crawled (if you can spot them) also a few cat, but I adore cats anyway.
Bedrooms were spotless and cleaned on a daily basis. The maid would come in and do something fancy with the bedclothes. i.e. butterflies with the sheets or towels, (gorgeous).
Little Mehmet at the Restaurant kept us entertained and laughing everyday, with his "I like you my friend".
My only disappointment was with the Rep. (Thomas Cook) We did not see hide or hair of him, although we tried to contact him. We had never been to Turkey before and were seeking advice on trips. Tip for others, go to Hisaronu or jump the Dolmus and do it yourself.
Do go for the Massage, go the the markets, boat trips, trip to Rhodes (approx £48, and very expensive once you get there), visit Kayakoy (ghost village - if you do go here, have a drink in the Levissi Bar (Yuksel is a star) best restaurant in Hisaronu is Costello's if you love a steak.
All in all cannot fault the Hotel, the Staff, the entertainment team.
A beautiful country full of beautiful people.
Thanks to Sharon, Glenn, Myra and Steve for making it one we won't forget.
"See you next year" xx
Advice: Beautiful surroundings, spotlessly clean, fantastic sunset
Activities: Costello's in Hisarono, but Kayakoy blew me away with its size

" Fantastic Holiday did not want to leave!! "
Submitted By: cazzalizThe hotel is also in the most beautiful surroundings and the top pool/bar area and rooms are stunning. Its very peaceful up there mostly older people, no kids, or noise. We spent most of week here. But you can get involved in darts, water polo, shooting, pool comps at bottom pool. We were there first week June and loungers go early - the old lets put towels in same spot EVERY DAY at 4am in morning crew. Some people think its there god given right. i think they need more loungers but top pool was ok we never struggled to get a bed.
I am the first to admit I am a fussy eater so the food wasn't that great for me.A bit hit and miss some nights I really liked it others I struggled to find something I liked. Afternoon snacks were really good and there was always something I could eat. The desserts were always the same, no variety and not v.good plus they were left out for hours and we found ants, plastic (i nearly threw up) and flies in ours and when we told staff they just laughed at us! Bizarre?!
The breakfasts were truly awful fresh omelettes yes, but not cooked through in the middle!! I managed on coffee and bread rolls. But it is well worth going to the Butterfly garden in Hisaronu for a GORGEOUS full english for just a couple of quid - yummy!! Load of other places do em cheap but that was best for me, at far end of main street.
Also, we were unlucky with the room- everyone we spoke to were ok with theirs. But ours was downstairs, VERY poorly lit with flies swarming round the door. We went onto balcony and there was a massive concrete wall facing us as the room was a basement room in the corner. It was Absolutely appalling. We asked to be moved and they said they were full and didn't have anything for 5 days (pointless when only there for 8 days!) We then found out this was a lie as another couple's rep had complained for them and they got moved that day. We booked independantly so did not have a rep to sort it for us. We ended up paying about £140 to upgrade to the delux rooms - which I have to say was an amazing room with a stunning view of the mountains and top pool. Hwever, the man a reception was rude un helpful and also a liar!! I was gutted but we are not the kind to let it ruin the holiday tho' c'est la vie! I would warn though if your going then I'd ask for a first floor room to be on safe side of not getting the dungeon rooms!
There was a free coach to the beach /blue lagoon which is lovely we hired a pedlo at the lagoon and it was fab. There is also a beach bar right at the end of lagoon out the way, quiet great views and great food. GO TO THE BEACH PARTY at night it was fab!!! Free pick up and drop off from your hotel, 1 free drink and bbq all you can eat and salads etc which was amazing (maybe that's coz the hotel food was rubbish it tasted that much better!) and really good scenery and entertainment all night all for 15 quid each well worth it.
Hisaronu is a really lovely place too only few mins on the dolmus which you catch at bottom of hill - went at night with entertainment staff and some hotel guests on a free minibus was a really good night. All the beauty stuff is so cheap we had massages, turkish shave, pedicure etc its all great and cheap. Go to Elvis's place v.good.
Make sure you take plenty English money and change money out there - the rate was much better. The trips are great value for money - the jeep safari and mud bath is a must!!
All in all we made most of it and had a fab holiday I would definately go back to Hisaronu, maybe Greenland hotel but I would pay for the delux room as wouldn't want get an awful room again.
Advice: beautiful place hisaronu and olu deniz are nearby and stunning views
Activities: butterfly garden. jeep safari

" great hotel "
Submitted By: prankpatrol2001We went here two years ago and normally wouln't return back to a hotel that We have been to before, Though I got married in Turkey and I wanted to stay somewhere that I new our families would love, This hotel didn't let us down.
The hotel staff made my wedding day really special!
I was amazed at how many people We met had been to this hotel many times before.
The new part of the hotel is fab, though We stayed in the old part. But some of our family were lucky to stay in the new part, and paid the same price as us!! The honeymoon suite is amazing which We had for one night at a cost of 25.oo.(huge round bed and jacuzzi)
Some people moaned about the entertainment though to be fare we have been all ovet Turkey and it is all the same, kids disco everynight wich my little girl loves and Mr Greenland etc.
They have day time activities so you can join in or just relax by the pool.
I only have a couple of gripes which are the restaurant got very busy the 2nd week and you had to be prepared to que and sunbeds were not available after 9.00 as everyone had put there towles on them!! I think that now the hotel has been made bigger they really need another restaurant. Please greenland get some new parasols.
All in all this is still a great hotel but please remeber you are not really in walking distance to anywhere so be prepared to catch the dolmus.
Advice: Ovacik is very pretty though extremely quiet.
