" Brilliant relaxing hotel!! "

Im shocked to see a few bad reports, this hotel was lovely, very clean and pretty and I am very picky. We had a nearly refurb room which was lovely with a plasma tv, maids are very good, cleaning daily. The have hammocks and tortoises in the resort which adds a lovely touch. The hotel was lovely and quiet, we had a room in the quiet area which was ideal for me and my boyfriend. The entertainment was ok, but the team which was only 4 of them worked so hard 9am to gone midnight, always smiling and chatting to all the guests. The resort is a ten min free shuttle ride, and is gorgeous clear waters.Paragliding is a must, and i am a complete wimp but the views were out of this world! It was a relaxing ideal holiday for me and my partner, but also had a area located away from the quiet pool for kids with a slide. There are some great day trips, value for money, definately recommend the mud baths. The food was good for all inclusive, bit random at times but people forget there in a different country not the UK, neither of us were ill. Definately go back there, overall the holiday was fab and I had the holiday blues big time when i got back to grey UK!! Turkey is a lovely pretty country and people are friendly!

Advice: Lovely resort

Activities: Mud baths, Paragliding over Olu Deniz

Good for: Beach

" Crap "

Only just got round to writing this review, 2 months after we came back as ive still been recovering from the food poisoning i got when i was over there. The food was crap. There was ants everywhere. Some wierd [--] flying around in our room everynight. TV didnt work. Aircon was more like a heater. Slide was only on for like an hour a day. The entertainment was alright, bingo is a rip off. 22 for the lads!! Pool's are a decent size though, the top one with steven colgate in it was epic. Some totty working behind the bars like. Night life in honolulu was good. Bouncing infact. Kebabs

Advice: Not much tbh.

" dissapointed "

Just returned from a holiday in hotel greenland after staying two weeks. There was a two week menu turnaround but as stated in most holiday books there is no childrens buffet what so ever, food very limited for choice and as this is classed as a 4 star hotel food options would struggle to give it 3 stars. After talking to the rep ref childrens buffet she told us she had been trying to get a childerens bar since may with no luck. Entertainment was for adults or children over 16 unless u like videos or coulouring in. although there is a slider it is rarely on and unsupervised and the shallow end of the pool is 1.4 meters deep not really what i call a child friendly pool. As for the jacuzzi it has long since broken, drinks are very limited.. unless u like gin, vodka, brandy that sums up the drink selection. The pool side is very slippery and several ppl fell while we where there including the entertainment team. The food buffet is not only unsuitable for children it is mostly covered in flys as there are no fly nets to stop the flys getting onto the food. Breakfast is ok if you like eggs,, fried,, scrambled, boiled ,,pancakes.. they can do anything with eggs.Rooms small but very clean, pool toilets dont get cleaned enough only on a evening so by lunch time they are very wet no toilet roll and the doors dont lock and if they do then u cant unlock them, a child got locked in them while i was there and was screaming to get out. Entertainment man begs you for tips at the end of your holiday much to the embarrasment of his colleagues. This could be a great hotel it is in a great setting but the food lets it down there is a lot that needs doing to improve the food including adding childrens food bar, drinks could have a bigger choice but that didnt affect me. Public transport is great bus every 5 to ten mins and they wait for you and are very cheap, hotel bus is very good trips from hotel are very good if not a bit expensive if u go into the town they are half the price for the same trip.
Still had a great holiday even though we had to eat out several times if they sorted out the food this would be a great hotel.

Advice: good cafe bar down the road past the garage

Activities: cheers is a great restaurant and so is the malibu

" entertainment!! "

1st time I have ever done a review after a holiday. Always use this site and an other before booking. Hotel is very clean, rooms cleaned every day by lovely cleaners. Who work really hard and make an effort with your room ie, patterns with pyjamas, sheets or towells. Ret,d earlier today and rep from thomas cook was available I spoke to him most days. Food is ok and we found something to eat most days hope you like eggs for breakfast!!! boiled, fried, scrambled, omellete. pancakes were good and my daughter had these most days. Not loads of choice in the evenings but normally something for every one.
This is a good hotel which could be improved with a little tweaking. Maybe some free ice cream for the kids, only large tubs with a cornet would be nice. Times of bars opening needs to be changed depending on where the entertainment is taking place.
That leads me to the entertainment team. They do not work hard as previous reports have suggested. Entertainment consists of darts at 10.45 for adults, water volley at 12.00 for adults, water polo for the adults at 3pm and rifle shooting at 4pm yes you guessed for adults. This was great for me but not so good for the wife and 10 + 14 year old kids. Kids club was a video or colouring aimed at young kids my 10 year old went once and left half way through as she was bored. The entertainer did not notice her and her friend had left the room!!! At 9.30pm there was a kids disco 4 records, that was it!. This we and other guests did not find good enough for a family hotel. A surf board did appear after complaining to craig the thomas cook rep,for 15 minutes but again adults went 1st and this only appeared for my final 2 days. I felt the entertainment manager was not interested in kids at all.Entertainment in evenings was very good when outside entertainers came in, This happened for 5 evenings in my 2 week stay. Bingo and raffle a big con!!!. Also if you win a free family portrait beware don't buy all the photos just buy the ones you want. You do get 1 free worth £3.

Advice: loads of bargains at hotel market.

" Home from Home "

I have only just come back this morning and after reading some of these reviews, cannot believe I stayed at the same Hotel.
From day one and point of entry, the staff cannot do enough to help, we always found the receptionist happy and eager to help with every request, advising us where to go and how to get there.
The food is amazing and if you cannot find something to suitable to eat here you are totally nitpicking. We stayed 14 nights and the menu was never repeated. The omelettes were to die for, I had one just about every morning.
Yes there were some flies, but you are in a moutainous region, I loved the chickens that ran freely about the grounds and the tortoises that crawled (if you can spot them) also a few cat, but I adore cats anyway.
Bedrooms were spotless and cleaned on a daily basis. The maid would come in and do something fancy with the bedclothes. i.e. butterflies with the sheets or towels, (gorgeous).
Little Mehmet at the Restaurant kept us entertained and laughing everyday, with his "I like you my friend".
My only disappointment was with the Rep. (Thomas Cook) We did not see hide or hair of him, although we tried to contact him. We had never been to Turkey before and were seeking advice on trips. Tip for others, go to Hisaronu or jump the Dolmus and do it yourself.
Do go for the Massage, go the the markets, boat trips, trip to Rhodes (approx £48, and very expensive once you get there), visit Kayakoy (ghost village - if you do go here, have a drink in the Levissi Bar (Yuksel is a star) best restaurant in Hisaronu is Costello's if you love a steak.
All in all cannot fault the Hotel, the Staff, the entertainment team.
A beautiful country full of beautiful people.
Thanks to Sharon, Glenn, Myra and Steve for making it one we won't forget.
"See you next year" xx

Advice: Beautiful surroundings, spotlessly clean, fantastic sunset

Activities: Costello's in Hisarono, but Kayakoy blew me away with its size

" The Best Holiday Ever "

I dont know where to start with the Greenland Hotel. It was utterly amazing. The setting was pefect, with the Hotel being surrounded by stunning scenery, mountains and the Hotel was right on the edge of a forest. When we arrived I was very tired as i had been travelling for the whole day. I travelled with my Girlfriend and my 3 year old brother. My brother (James) was very exited to get here, and so was my girlfriend (Megan) as it was our first holiday on our own without parents. We loved the food and the activies around the pool. And i thought there was a great selection of food, also, the pool side food was delicious. Massive thumbs up to the entertaintmnt team Zerah, Yonca, Musty, Hakan and Taner who made the holiday amazing. One thing wrong tho. James slipped around the pool on a few occasions and hurt himself. I suggest putting more grip around the pool area. Overall my favourite holiday ever, even if Megan did fancie DJ Musty haha.

Advice: very nice, but not loads to do besides stay at the hotel.

Activities: Shanghai Blues Chinese in Hisaronu and Jeep Safari with Focus

" :-) "

overall we enjoyed the holiday as a whole. the resort was nice and so were the entertainment team. the food was ok however the large amount of fly's and insects on the food was a bit of a put off. but the poolside snacks were nice so i didnt mind too much. the reception staff were unhelpful and rude, for example our phone didnt work in our room and also the bed was missing a leg. after numerous times of complaining, nothing was done about either. also the mini bar in the apartment was never used by us, yet we had a bill for it for a number of drinks we had apparently drunk. the receptionist didnt believe us at all but we refused to pay the bill and they soon realised their was a "mistake" so beware of that if you go. we met a couple of nice people on our stay there too.

" REVIEW "

There was alot of violence whilst we stayed at this hotel. Guests from other hotels were allowed to enter the premises freely and drink (beacause they were in relationships with bar staff) then kick off with guests at the resort. This happened for four consecutive nights causing un-easiness and uncertatinty from the 3rd night of my holiday and we had booked for seven nights. The reps were not helpful with the situation at all. Hotel was clean, food was nice and entertainment activities were excellent. Easy access to the towns which were good. Unfortunately I will not book with FIRST CHOICE again or go to the hotel again but the country in itself was lovely. I would definately recommend the DALAYAN DEPARTURE but stay at the 2T it's better than the 3T!

Advice: Yes

Activities: Dalayan Departure and Hisaranou

" Fantastic Holiday did not want to leave!! "

Firstly let me say that we had an absolutely brilliant holiday. This was mainly down to the people we met in the hotel who have already booked to return to Greenland. Most people were so friendly and we had a right laugh at the entertainment in the evenings - a little cheesy at times but hey your on holiday!! And the repeated kids songs/dance routines each night ie birdie song superman etc drove me insane towards the end of the hol - change the CD!! But we got involved and won a couple of fish bowls which was great!!
The hotel is also in the most beautiful surroundings and the top pool/bar area and rooms are stunning. Its very peaceful up there mostly older people, no kids, or noise. We spent most of week here. But you can get involved in darts, water polo, shooting, pool comps at bottom pool. We were there first week June and loungers go early - the old lets put towels in same spot EVERY DAY at 4am in morning crew. Some people think its there god given right. i think they need more loungers but top pool was ok we never struggled to get a bed.
I am the first to admit I am a fussy eater so the food wasn't that great for me.A bit hit and miss some nights I really liked it others I struggled to find something I liked. Afternoon snacks were really good and there was always something I could eat. The desserts were always the same, no variety and not v.good plus they were left out for hours and we found ants, plastic (i nearly threw up) and flies in ours and when we told staff they just laughed at us! Bizarre?!
The breakfasts were truly awful fresh omelettes yes, but not cooked through in the middle!! I managed on coffee and bread rolls. But it is well worth going to the Butterfly garden in Hisaronu for a GORGEOUS full english for just a couple of quid - yummy!! Load of other places do em cheap but that was best for me, at far end of main street.
Also, we were unlucky with the room- everyone we spoke to were ok with theirs. But ours was downstairs, VERY poorly lit with flies swarming round the door. We went onto balcony and there was a massive concrete wall facing us as the room was a basement room in the corner. It was Absolutely appalling. We asked to be moved and they said they were full and didn't have anything for 5 days (pointless when only there for 8 days!) We then found out this was a lie as another couple's rep had complained for them and they got moved that day. We booked independantly so did not have a rep to sort it for us. We ended up paying about £140 to upgrade to the delux rooms - which I have to say was an amazing room with a stunning view of the mountains and top pool. Hwever, the man a reception was rude un helpful and also a liar!! I was gutted but we are not the kind to let it ruin the holiday tho' c'est la vie! I would warn though if your going then I'd ask for a first floor room to be on safe side of not getting the dungeon rooms!
There was a free coach to the beach /blue lagoon which is lovely we hired a pedlo at the lagoon and it was fab. There is also a beach bar right at the end of lagoon out the way, quiet great views and great food. GO TO THE BEACH PARTY at night it was fab!!! Free pick up and drop off from your hotel, 1 free drink and bbq all you can eat and salads etc which was amazing (maybe that's coz the hotel food was rubbish it tasted that much better!) and really good scenery and entertainment all night all for 15 quid each well worth it.
Hisaronu is a really lovely place too only few mins on the dolmus which you catch at bottom of hill - went at night with entertainment staff and some hotel guests on a free minibus was a really good night. All the beauty stuff is so cheap we had massages, turkish shave, pedicure etc its all great and cheap. Go to Elvis's place v.good.
Make sure you take plenty English money and change money out there - the rate was much better. The trips are great value for money - the jeep safari and mud bath is a must!!
All in all we made most of it and had a fab holiday I would definately go back to Hisaronu, maybe Greenland hotel but I would pay for the delux room as wouldn't want get an awful room again.

Advice: beautiful place hisaronu and olu deniz are nearby and stunning views

Activities: butterfly garden. jeep safari

" A great place for a holiday "

Just had to write a review about this hotel,we returned home after two really great weeks. We had read reports off how poor this hotel was and how poor the choice of food,I cannot fault the hotel or food both 100 per cent.A great choice everyday always fresh and well pesented. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly always ready to help with requests and have a great sense of fun. This an ideal hotel for most people family or couples. It is not best for those with mobility problems as the location is on an incline but other than that I cannot find any faults,so go there and enjoy a great holiday.

" Good & Bad "

We found the hotel to be in a lovely location, good food (but do not cater for young chilidren), friendly bar & entertainment staff, clean rooms lovely pool but the reception staff were dreadful, miserable, unhelpful and on occasion rude, they charged us for drinks from mini bar items we did not have. when we challenged them they said they would call the Jandana (police) we could not believe this. Missed a complete day by travel and was not given a courtesy room, when incidents happen concerning the reception staff excuses are made. Reception is the first point of contact this gives the first impresion of the hotel and they were most unhelpful at all times. We did not let this spoil our holiday.

Advice: Beautiful

the hotel was very nice the rooms were also nice but compact the food was good. the entermainment was a bit poor and for grown ups and the shop was poor as when you bought something it would break in the first day you bought it.the surroundings were picturesct and the beach was just down the road.the kids entermainment was good but needed more.

" great hotel "

Have just returned from the Greenland Had a great time people are so freindly.
We went here two years ago and normally wouln't return back to a hotel that We have been to before, Though I got married in Turkey and I wanted to stay somewhere that I new our families would love, This hotel didn't let us down.
The hotel staff made my wedding day really special!
I was amazed at how many people We met had been to this hotel many times before.
The new part of the hotel is fab, though We stayed in the old part. But some of our family were lucky to stay in the new part, and paid the same price as us!! The honeymoon suite is amazing which We had for one night at a cost of 25.oo.(huge round bed and jacuzzi)
Some people moaned about the entertainment though to be fare we have been all ovet Turkey and it is all the same, kids disco everynight wich my little girl loves and Mr Greenland etc.
They have day time activities so you can join in or just relax by the pool.
I only have a couple of gripes which are the restaurant got very busy the 2nd week and you had to be prepared to que and sunbeds were not available after 9.00 as everyone had put there towles on them!! I think that now the hotel has been made bigger they really need another restaurant. Please greenland get some new parasols.
All in all this is still a great hotel but please remeber you are not really in walking distance to anywhere so be prepared to catch the dolmus.

Advice: Ovacik is very pretty though extremely quiet.

" in reply "

Just to give my opinion of the Greenland and reply to a few of the comments in other reviews on this site. We will return to the Greenland in August this year having had three superb holidays there in previous years. The hotel is in a superb scenic forest location, but can be a little hilly if infirm or unfit. Although not the most luxurious, the hotel is smart, well maintained and clean. The rooms are basic but clean and provide all necessities. The staff are excellent especially the entertainers and the food is varied, tasty and plentiful. Rooms too small? they are big enough to sleep in and change in. The bathrooms are clean and well appointed. Wardrobes are plenty big enough given the meagre luggage allowances these days. I'd be surprised if you coud fill the wardrobe within the allowed weight limit. The balcony, will seat 2 and the family rooms have 2 balconies. Why on earth would you need more space, what more would you want to do in your room other than sleep change and bathe(no rude answers here)? Rooms are cold? This is Turkey, it's unbearably hot at night, did they leave the aircon on by mistake? There is always a variety of main hot meals, some freshly cooked on griddle or barbecue, and a vast array of fresh salads, bread, veg and sauces. Never had fish or curry there and if you can't assembly a hearty meal there at every sitting, you must be rather fussy. My kids have been going to the Greenland from 2 1/2 years of age and have always eaten more than enough. Entertainment team work extremely hard and make the hotel the great place it is. With their limited resources and finances, they do an excellent job. Don't forget, you're not paying top dollar(or if you have, your tour operator is stinging you, not the hotel - try booking through tulip holidays who are a Turkish company with offices in London), so be reasonable and don't expect Tom Jones or Girls Aloud to entertain you. Insects? As mentioned, you are in a superb forest hillside location to die for, of course there will be insects, what do you expect the hotel to do, throw a net over the entire site? Having said that, I have been bitten, but never at the hotel, only when at the beach. The pools cold? Thank God for that, with temperatures in the forties why on earth would you want a heated pool? My kids won't come out of it and I get in there because it is So hot and I need to cool down. Otherwise I'd be paralitic drinking the copious ice cold beer! I also play water polo every day with all the multitude of other people having fun in the pool. In short this is an excellent family hotel in an exquisite location with staff who work hard to look after you - for a pittance at that. Some people really should stick to fish and chips in Blackpool. Enjoy!!

Advice: scenery to die for, sleepy and chilled during the day, buzzing at night lots to do in easy reach
