Romantik Hotel Boeglerhof

We have just returned from a weeks skiing in Alpbach and as first time visitors to Austria and first time skiing we couldn't have chosen either a better resort or a better hotel (Romantikhotel Boglerhof). Apparently if you can learn to ski here then you can ski anywhere. My family and I loved our stay at this hotel. It is very family friendly with perks we don't usually have. The feature we enjoyed most is a large kids play room complete with babysitter available from 2-9pm. There is a children's restaurant where your kids can eat with other young ones under the supervision of the babysitter...we did that one night and enjoyed an adult evening. Let me make this easy for any person considering staying at this "hotel". If you are family with kids you will have a great time. If you a couple considering a "Romantik" stay in Alpbach this is your worst nightmare. Firstly, the place is run a long the lines of a kindergarten without rules. The prappy parents and their spoilt offspring who stay here clearly think that everyone finds their obnoxious screaming child just as wonderful as they do and are allowed to run amok. I just returned from a 4 night stay with my husband, twin sons (2 years old) and my parents. I highly recommend this hotel for a family vacation. The hotel is located in a beautiful setting with mountainous views from all sides. It is decorated in a tasteful, traditional tirolean style. We stayed in the newest rooms and they were large, sunny, modern with tasteful elements of Tirol. The have great balconies and patios with lovely views. I don't know where to start with this review. I went with my family for Christmas from the 22nd until the 29th of December. Well the hotel was absolutely amazing! Some people who are used to high-tech decor may be put off by the old-worldly style and decor of this hotel when they first arrive but let me assure you, you won't be dissapointed. We stayed at this hotel from 18th - 25th July 2007. We booked the hotel through Inghams Lakes and Mountains. At the time of booking (September 2006) we reserved a 'Schatzberg' room which was a lovely twin bedroom approx. 26-30 m sq, with far reaching views. On arrival we were allocated a standard room - 304. This bedroom was like a box. 12ft by 12ft. The room had a velux roof window and was something like a sauna.-disgraceful. As a result when we asked to be moved and had to pay 150 euros for a upgrade room. The second room looked on to the construction work which was being completed , The work started at 7am and went on till 9pm each day.At no stage prior to our arrival here were we informed of the buliding work, therefore this came as an upleasant suprise.Our biggest shock came in the... more

Avoid this hotel like the plague if you are looking for a quiet holiday. The hotel was overrun with young kids whose parents for the most part didn't seem to care less how they behaved and apparently neither did the management. Never again so be warned

Those searching for a well-run hotel combined with peaceful surroundings need look no further than the Romantik Hotel Boglerhof in Alpbach. Each and every member of staff is so attentive, as to make the individual guest feel special. High standards of service and food; although hearty eaters may not appreciate the "cuisine nouvelle" at dinner. A fantastic hotel. The bedroom was gorgeous - typically Austrian with wood panelled wall - but the view was superb and we looked straight down the valley. The food was excellent. Breakfast was a buffet with a choice of hot dishes made to order and masses of tea, coffee, fruit juices, smoked salmon, etc. We were there for Christmas and there was a special gala dinner after Father Christmas had arrived at the lounge in a Fiat 500!
