excellent hotel cant wait to go back
i found this hotel through a excellant web sight called recommended hotels of which i will be using again on arrival the staff very welcoming nothing was to much trouble the room we stayed in was a superior with sea view furnished and decorated very nicely. we would stay there again and would totally recommend a stay at the lansdowne
Everything you need for comfort
Chose the hotel more or less at random for a family weekend break by the sea. Wonderful position on seafront and it was worth requesting rooms with a sea view. Rooms were elegant, spacious, very clean and well appointed. All facilities in rooms were good. Beds were especially comfortable. All public rooms were comfortable with a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere where you quickly felt at home. The lounges were elegant and the dining rooms very attractively decorated. Food was very good ie. breakfasts, bar snacks and evening... more
Old World Charm
Went to Eastbourne for a weekend break and stayed at the Lansdowne. Perfectly decent three star hotel with plenty of old world charm, a decent bar and a good breakfast. The room was clean and bright even if the decor was somewhat dated. To my surprise the people staying there were from a wide range of ages. Recommended.
If you like life a little slower ...
Well, it's in Eastbourne so we didn't expect it to buzz. It was pleasant enough, the room was nicely furnished and was clean and the breakfast not bad at all! Pity the staff aren't trained a little more or their English a little better! I would go again - a good rate was offered and I think it was good value for money.
Not for ravers!
There just doesn't seem to be a good choice of hotels in Eastbourne, it's either stay at the Grand or slum it. We slummed it. Mind you in a town where the major topic of conversation is the turning circle of your electric invalid chair, then maybe there just isn't the market for the trendy boutique hotel I would normally go for. The Landsdowne, is well really a step back in time. I felt rather like I was staying in a nursing home. Clearly the hotel has customers who return year after year, and you can see that it has some attractions - an... more
Lovely hotel, wonderful sea view
We stayed at the Landsdowne very recently. It was a very relaxing place.Rooms were very nicely furnished. The lounges are comfy and the bar service very good. Friendly, efficient staff. The breakfast was really good. I would like to go there again and would recommend it.
Pleasant stay
Very pleasant stay. Enjoyed the meals. Nicely positioned for walks along the sea front. Service was good - would definitely stay again.
Nice or not so nice
I have stayed at this hotel on a few occassions as my company used to use it for booking staff into. It has some nice rooms on the front with nice big bay windows, However many of the rooms are like cupboards. The temperature in the rooms is also in most cases extremely high with no way of adjusting it. The hotel itself is quite pleasant but definetly aimed at the older guest i.e 65,75 plus. Service ranges from adequate to downright awfull, Some staff are pleasant some are downright unpleasant. In short you can see what... more
Relaxing Break by the Sea
We have been going to the Lansdowne for several years now for weekend breaks, usually 2 or 3 times a year. The hotel, although quite large, is privately owned and the family are hands-on. We find that the hotel provides an excellent service with friendly staff, and the food is very good. The hotel cleanliness, particularly in the bedrooms, is excellent. There are large comfortable lounges to relax in. The hotel is traditional, but not "stuffy" For a nice weekend break, not too far from London, the Lansdowne is a great place to be -... more
Some dinner & dance!
The Airbourne 2003 Dinner & Dance was an experience! The dinner was served within minutes of ordering it - got the feeling they wanted us in and out as fast as possible. Staff nice but attention to detail missed. 4-course dinner became 3, even though 4 courses paid for. Coffee served on a dirty tray, coffee with white things floating in it & the petite fours completely missing. The Dance was an elderly man playing the drums and a lady singing songs to inspire the dead - needless to say nobody was dancing. We were told that 80 people had... more
