Very good compromise
I had a conference at the hotel next door, so we decided to leave early and stay in a cheaper hotel. We thus selected the Lordos beach. This was a great choice! Staff was very nice, rooms very correct and clean, beach was OK even if we would have felt better without those rocks (sand is always better isn't it?) pools were just ideal and very diverse (at least 3 of them), food was OK (but not perfect), cocktails at the bar very nice and location not bad at all to visit various places in Cyrpus.
Wow...what a great place
We have just come back from a long weekend at Lordos Beach hotel and what a great hotel it is. The pools are fantastic, a brilliant play area for kids (young and old!!!) and encased in a fort which has a water slide into one of the pools. The sea was lovely, clean and warm. The hotel was very clean and professional, definately a 4 star. Plenty of selection at Breakfast, although we ate out across the road at Daniels each evening.....the food was so great we didn't want to go anywhere else. It was very hot, so much so that we had to have a day way from sunbathing, so we hired a jeep to tour the island....Don't worry about driving there, they drive on the right side of the road (same as us!!!) and all the signs are in Cypriot and English, so no problems there. Overall a brilliant weekend, we wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is great for all ages, although a little quiet in the evening if clubbing is your thing, but there are clubs and karaoke bars across the road if you want them, and Ayia Napa & Protaras are only a 20min drive down the road.... Go on...try it....you won't be disappointed
Would definately go back
We booked a 6 night stay to break up a longer visit to Cyprus staying with family. We booked one of the mini-suites, it was very nice and the balcony was lovely, although they seemed to have been a little confused about our instruction for 1 double bed (as opposed to twin beds) as they had only made the room up for 2 instead of 2 adults & 2 kids. This was quickly rectified without fuss, but then we realised we'd been given a room with a smaller balcony. If booking one of these minisuites and there are 4 of you, you might prefer to avoid room 117 as it doesn't have the big dining area that the other rooms have. Also, room 119 next door has a small balcony like a regular room not a minisuite, but has access through the balcony of 117 to the jacuzzis. Rooms 115 back to around 107 (odd numbers only) are situated opposite the stairs/lifts which might be more noisy if you're a light sleeper and early-to-bed sort of person. However, we weren't too bothered by the smaller balcony, we did enjoy it and we could see the evening entertainment from there, unlike the other minisuite rooms. Saying that, the entertainment wasn't all that great, with the exception of the fire show which was excellent, and another guest said the magician had been good. Breakfasts were fine, plenty of choice and you can eat as much as you like. They didn't seem to mind you discreetly taking something for later either - we sometimes made our 4 year old a jam sandwich for mid-morning as she's not keen on breakfast. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel, we followed an earlier recommendation to go to Daniel's across the road and ate there most nights, even returning after we'd left the hotel. Definately recommend Daniel's local specialities, they are home-made and were excellent. Our kids are 8 and 4 and they used to share a 'gypsy pizza', a homemade cheese & tomato pizza which was around £3.75. Most adult main courses around a fiver. Our friends also recommended Diana's across the road, but we never did get to eat there. We arrived at the Lordos on 21 Aug 06 and there were lots of other families there, it was a very pleasant group of guests, although we understand that a week earlier there had been some teenagers who had been a bit boisterous. The security at the hotel seems ok though, not that you need to be protected from the outside world but I think the hotel like to protect their pool from being invaded by everyone else staying at villas and apartments nearby! The hotel provide towels in your room as expected, but also pool towels so that they can identify their own hotel guests.
paradise island
well...where to begin? having decided to venture out into the world and go on holiday, we had no idea then what lay in store for us, only to say it was something different to anything we had done before. coming from a roma/christian family, we had been into rumania many times, where my dad takes charity aid and medication to poor roma children and families out there. with the date set (june 5th) bags packed, it was in with anticipation that we awaited our coming date. come the morning of our flight we arose early, the flight was for 9.30am. so we made our way m-chester airport, where eventually we took our flight along with many other families, some as we, 1st time flyers, other more seasoned in this method of conveince. the flight itself was cramped and un friendly, with not even enough room to stretch your legs, with annoying the person in front of you. (LX airways, not recommended...) eventually after 4 and half hour flight, we arrived in cyprus, where we awaited our luggage, headed for the taxi, and after a twenty or so minute drive, we arrived at the hotel. by this time we were all tired, and really just ready to call it a day, i had my reservations about the holiday, after the flight, then cyprus airport, where it took ages to find our luggege. as our taxi pulled into the hotel it was hard to believe my eyes.. so beautiful and spacious a place, warm welcoming staff, who couldnt do enough for you, and the greeting smile melted away all doubts that the holiday would be horrible. the hotel rooms were wanderful, with an outside view to take your breath away, both bath and shower. every morning there were clean towels and the room kept in order. the air conditioning was a blessing, to say the least. the food was varied and of the highest quality, the catering staff were always there, yet never over-powering(something which i think is good training). the beach was no-more than a stone through away. and even a man was there who went every morning and arranged all the sun loungers, washing them down and just adding the finishing touches. the receptionist carmen greeted us in the morning and afternoon with a glowing radient smile and asked how we as, if we were enjoying ourselves and if all was well. outside in the hotel grounds there was a open bar, where again the staff were relaxed and helpful. chatting and friendly but never were they anything other than gentlemen. in all everyboday made our time there a wanderful memory, one that we will enjoy and cherrish for ever. and across the road from the hotel there is a bar, and shops, again if you go to this hotel. and i hope you do, then be sure to pop across the road and enjoy the evening with a nice brandy sour, listening to the music, ans generall having a wanderful time all round.
Lovely Larnaca
Just returned from a wonderful 2 week stay at the lordos beach, i would recommend it to anyone, the service, facilities and all aspects of the hotel really made for a lovely holiday and the children aged 12 & 7 thought it was great.
Hotel and local taverna great
We stayed at the Lordos Beach for 12 nights and had an great time. The hotel and pools are spotlessly clean and the food at breakfast varied and good. We often arrived for breakfast at 9.30 (it was served 7-10 am) but there was always plenty of food and the staff topped up everything regularly. The hotel is a bit isolated so unless you just want to sit by the pool you do need a car. The beach is not good but we knew that Cyprus is not the ideal destination if you want miles of unspoilt beaches so we weren't disappointed. We only ate dinner in the hotel once - the food was OK but nothing special. However we found a really excellent taverna called DANIEL just over the road. We ate there for 8 out of our 12 nights (very unusual for us as we usually try somewhere different each day) and the quality of the food and serving staff was exceptional.
Would recommend The Lodos Beach
We stayed at the Lordos Beach From the 23rd April 2006 for 7 days. We weren't sure what to expect having read different reviews on different web sites but we weren't disappointed. We booked through Expedia and choose a mini suite for the four of us (2 adults and 2 children). The room was excellent it was clean and modern with lots of hanging space and draws for all of our clothes. THe room had its own decked terrace over looking the Med with lots of seating and beyond that was shared decked terrace with 2 hot tubs. The room was cleaned every day and lots of fresh towels. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis so we only ever sampled the food in the morning but cannot fault it. There was a lot of choice: four different kinds of pastries, different dried fruits, 4 or 5 different serials, hams, cheeses, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, sausages, bacon so we never went hungry !. We found the staff to be very helpful and freindly. So all in all will definately be going again.
Boring
Myself, husband and two children thought we would go away for christmas. The hotel, although lovely, was very boring. The food was often served cold and the list of meals offered did not live up to much. The bar closed early and there was little in the way of entertainment. The staff seemed to be fed up, as though you were bothering them.
lovely hotel
lovely hotel, very freindly and helpful staff.lots to do on the beach.bar closed early in hotel (well midnight),but found a great little bar accross the road!!! fantastic swimming facilities so happy kids!!! location was a bit far out for our likeing and we hated larnaca!!!
Piece of Heaven
My husband and I recently stayed at the Lordos Beach for a week. It was not long enough! The hotel was wonderful with very friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were spacious with a decent sized bathroom with both bath & shower. A short walk through the garden and lagoon pools led you to the beach where a very helpful man set up your sunbeds and parasols of your choice. The only downside was the breakfast, although a large choice, my husband complained that the bacon, etc. was not hot! We stayed there on a B&B basis but had a couple of dinners there, one in the outside Atlantis restaurant and one in the Oceanis Restaurant. Both meals quite satisfactory but felt a little rushed! If you are staying at the Lordos, do try the Golden Day Restaurant across the road where the friendly staff and food were excellent!
