Deteriorated!
from grannygLondon
I have stayed previously and really enjoyed the warm indoor pool. My visit in February was to buy new lenses for my glasses since the majority of opticians in the UK will not do this and also to buy a new pair for my son and a pair for myself. These items cost a fraction of the price I would have had to pay here. The communal areas of the hotel were not heated and the pool was freezing cold. I was given an electric heater for my room. I had to wear my winter coat in the dining room. Naturally, I pointed out these discrepancies repeatedly but the manager was conspicuous by his absence. The majority of the staff seemed to be Eastern European plus one Dane - very few native Cypriots. The weather was cold and very wet - snow in the hills and floods in Larnaca, so heating was really needed. The pool was finally heated on the LAST day of my stay.
Never again!

We spent New Year's Eve in Cyprus with my fiancé. We had a wonderful time tripping and travelling around the island all day and loved the place except for the hotel. Our summary of this hotel: extremely unfriendly staff, bad food + you must pay for the drinks even if you booked a half board stay, cockroaches in the battered bathroom, dirty everywhere, ice cold indoor pool - though advertised as heated, uncomfortable beds, old tv and radio in the room. I would like to return to Cyprus one day but never in this hotel again!

Don't stay there! It's dirty, the food is not good. But the worst thing is the hotel staff and their attitudes..stay anywhere, but not at this hotel. It is the worst hotel I've ever seen.
dreadful experience

If you plan visiting Larnaca then give this hotel a very wide berth because it does not reflect the hospitality and friendliness of the Cypriot people in any way whatsoever. The hotel was dirty, desperately in need of redecoration and a great deal of maintenance work, one electric switch in the room we had ( 340 ) was hanging off the wall ! The restaurant remained closed all the 4 nights we were there and all food except breakfast was served outside near the pool where the seating and tables were white plastic, the breakfast room was dull, dirty and not inviting at all, and the breakfast itself was very poor to say the least .There is a lovely bar on the ground floor but it remained closed,in fact it was empty ! unstocked and very very dusty, the only bar was the pool bar which was noisy and not the place to sit for a quiet drink after dinner. Beware of the chairs around the pool, I sat on one and about 30 mins later it collapsed, on inspection of the damaged area it was clear that only a VERYsmall area of weld was holding one leg to the frame and NONE at all on the second leg that gave way. I feel that this hotel is not worthy of one star let alone the three that it has and a review by the CTO or whoever awards the stars is urgently needed.
Wait until it has been refurbished

My husband and I spent a week at this hotel in October 2005. Beware the brochure descriptions do not match this hotel. The hotel had recently been taken over and it showed. The rooms were dirty, the towels grey and hard - changed only twice in 7 days. We had to ask the chambermaid three days running to change the sheets. Fortunately we had one of the better rooms with a view of the pool - rooms on the other side looked out to the busy main road into Larnaca. The corridor lights did not work for 6 of the 7 days. The food was repetitive - it didnt seem to matter which theme the buffet meal had - the same food always appeared. Choice was limited. Dont wait until late in the evening to go for dinner as choice will be even more restricted. No additional dishes are brought out when the originals are empty. Staff are very young, poorly trained and totally incapable of making a cocktail look anything different to a milkshake. The hotel is quite isolated and a taxi is needed if you want to eat outside the hotel. To be fair refurbishments were slowly starting to happen and next summer this may have improved the appearance, but major improvements need to be implemented regarding cleanliness, food and staffing.

I Usually book 4-5 star hotels but on this ocassion settled on 3star Henipa with my girlfriend. We got a good coprporate rate from a property developer. Overall a nice time can be had - the pool area is fine - adequate food though lacking in variety - some entertainment - staff do their best-It would not take much to improve this hotel- I get the impression the management dont want to bother and they employ cheap labour which in turn leads to lack of drive and little imagination. The place needs some room refurb and general freshening up and more guest info If you are alone and just need a break it is cheap accommodation if you get one of their good rates. Beach nearby and Larnaca 10 minute taxi ride. During holidays place is swarmed with kids. If you are travelling with a family I would recommend you book a 4 star nearby for better food variety and I suspect a better holiday.

stayed 1 week end of May(half term) 2 adults + 2 kids aged 11 and 16. Hotel looks lovely on arrival, but do not be deceived!! The rooms are very dirty, we had room 300, a family room with 4 beds and 1 bathroom, it looked grubby on first impression, tatty and well-used. The bathroom was not clean, we found a DEAD MOUSE BY THE BED on day 3 , a USED SANITARY TOWEL COVERED IN ANTS IN A BAG BEHIND A BEDROOM CHAIR on day 5 and noticed that none of the bedding was changed at all . The maids were obviously not being checked by management. The only reason we didn`t run screaming from this dump was the fact we had a hire car, so we went out a lot.The staff were miserable, except Andreas the barman. The food is actually very good on the whole, but beware.. the hotel has regular booked events where people use the main restaurant for weddings/christenings ... so the hotel guests are ousted into a grotty downstairs room to eat, during one of these events my husband waited 30 mins to get served at the bar, because we were all forgotten about. The pool looked nice, but never got cleaned, our kids helped rescue a drowning mouse....and it is lovely swimming with spiders and beetles for company. THIS HOTEL IS LOCATED NEAR A VERY BUSY ROAD JUNCTION, THE NOISE FROM LORRIES/TRAFFIC/A NEARBY FIRE STATION AND POLICE STATION IS UNBEARABLE AT NIGHT. We were very disappointed and this was our 3rd trip to Cyprus, if it had been our 1st we would have been put off completely. There was no entertainment at all, and it is not suitable for a holiday hotel, more a travelling salesman`s hotel.
hated the Henipa

We were very disappointed when we arrived at the Henipa. Hotel is not close to the beach, is in need of serious renovation and bars , shops etc are a ten minute walk away. We found the staff surly and having found mice droppings and cigarette burns in the room we made a hasty exit and stayed at the Lordos Beach Hotel, just down the road and next to the beach. I rate the Lordos very highly and would never stay at the Henipa.
Fantastic - Friendly staff, Great Food

What a lovely place! The Henipa Hotel is a 10 minute bus ride along the coast from the main town of Larnaca. Larnaca itself is a little run down but the main promenade and beach are nice enough. The Henipa is probably in need of renovation and as such the accomodation is basic, but how much time do you spend in your room when you're on a sun holiday anyway?! The pool area is lovely - there are plenty of sun loungers and a pool bar serving cocktails and good food all day. It is a real oasis, surrounded by palm trees. The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful and if you offer to by the barman a drink, more often than not he will buy you a couple in return! It's definitely worth getting all inc or HB because there's a massive buffet every night with different dishes from around the world - there's something to suit everyone. Salads, meat dishes, rice, pasta. I'm a vegetarian and even I was happy - in fact we didn't eat out once!! A 5 minute taxi ride (or a 20 minute walk) down the road takes you to a strip of bars and restaurants, the best of which is down the far end - Cossi's Bar. Watch out for Brandy Sours in Cyprus - they are far more than a shot and consequently lethal!!! I thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want to spend your days lazing by the pool chilling out and your nights eating good food and having a few cocktails at the hotel bar or some of the local bars. Enjoy!

My Mum and I decided to escape for some winter sun over Xmas this year. We booked five nights at Crown Resorts Henipa half board. Upon arrival the reception area was ok we were given our room key and made our way up to the first floor. Our room was disgusting dirty,... more
