Amberley Castle Hotel

Reviewing this as a Brit, I am less interested in the tourism aspect of the hotel and more about what the hotel offers for a weekend away. For a price of £375 per night, I would be comparing this to something like Babbington house. Here is where I felt the hotel fell short 1. Noone to meet us at the car and carry the bags. 2. We ended our 9 day trip to England with a stay here. Honestly, I never spend anywhere near this amount of money for accommodations, but I really feel like it was worth every penny! It's a real genuine castle, partially ruined, but if you like castles, this place is for you! My partner and I stayed at Amberley Castle for two nights in November, 2004. Because of the expense, we considered this to be a 'once in a lifetime' type of experience and had planned to stay only one night. It is a pity that one of the recent reviews was so negative about this lovely hotel. Our experience was absolutely the reverse and, having stayed at many 5* hotels in every continent, I regard the overall standard of this establishment as exceeding some of those. I certainly plan to visit again.

This hotel had been recommended to us however, our experience was very disappointing. Our room was booked costing £375 for just one night and so we were expecting the very best. The first impressions as you see the driveway, lawns and castle are very high. You see a sign to a bag drop off - at that price you expect a porter to meet you - not with us. Amberley Castle is everything you expect - turrets and thick stone walls, doves tucked into the walls, manicured gardens, croquet in the moat . . . . . My husband, daughter and I stayed there for one night last week and were very impressed by the standard of upkeep - everything looks maintained. Anything anyone has said bad about Amberley castle is rubbish! It is an amazing place anyone and everyone would and does love it! I stayed there for a wedding very recently and thouroughly enjoyed it. The service was great and they were always polite and helped me with my bags to reception and to my room! A four poster bed, whirlpool bathroom, a TV that when a remote control button is pressed rises out of a cabinet (wow) all were a perfect touch to a gorgeous stay.
