Staff incredibly helpful! Creaky floors? I call it character!
I attended the NASUWT conference in Bournemouth and about 50 of us (delegates and family) stayed for for five nights. Food was excellent. Rooms varied, but no-one had any complaints. Floors were a creaky delight. Staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. I'd happily stay here again. On sight parking adequate. It looks a small carpark until you realise there are two of them. Tony Hancock fans will adore it. The bar is decked out with posters and photos.
Was better than I anticipated!
Having read some very poor reviews I was undecided whether to book this hotel, even for one night! I was swayed by the late deal of £38 DBB and it was much better than some reviewers have found. Was upgraded to one of the refurbished double rooms which was quiet, reasonably furnished and had all the extras you would expect at a 3* hotel. Reception was friendly and efficient, the dinner was OK, and the breakfast, a semi buffet, was standard fare. All in all I would recommend it for a business stay but if you are travelling solo ask for... more
Nothing Quality Here!
I've stayed in hostels in Asia that are cleaner, quieter and more secure than this hotel! The hotel had a moldy stench on entering the front door, on checking in the lady at reception was reasonably helpful and informed us that a party would be going on until 12 in the hotel bar but this should not effect us seen as we were going out for the night! The car park was full up so we were made to park on the street. When arriving back from our night out the only place to have a drink in the Hotel was full of underage drinkers shouting abuse... more
Management response from QualityHotel47

We are concerned that this Guest found the Hotel lacking in cleanliness and security - had these comments been made at the time we would immediately have addressed the situation. We have a car park for up to 55 vehicles and therefore cannot guarantee a space for every Guest - our car parking is free of charge and is on a first come first served basis. The on-street parking is free and unlimited and as the Hotel is situated in a quiet street, is a safe place to park. We strongly dispute that the Hotel serves underage drinkers - we do host 18th and 21st birthday parties, however, all our Bar Staff are well versed in the legal drinking age and for these parties we also employ Security Guards who check each party guest for proof of age. Our parties end at 12:30a.m. and party guests who are not staying at the Hotel are encouraged to leave the premises promptly and quietly. Guests making noise whilst returning to their rooms late at night are spoken to by our Night Service Managers and any continuous noise leads to immediate eviction from the Hotel. All our bedroom doors lock - we can only assume this Guest left his/hers unlocked which resulted in someone else entering the room. We apologise that there was no answer from Reception as we do offer a 24 hour service, however, at times the desk may be unmanned whilst the Night Service Managers carries out their regular inspections of the Hotel premises.

I Hated every minute of this...
This was awful. I have come home feeling shattered, after getting hardly any sleep all night my relaxing brake away has been ruined. The staff are great – when booking in. We arrived a little early, so when 2pm came we asked to check into our room, only to be told we had to be moved to another room because our room had been smashed up the night before! Once arriving in our room, it was quite shocking to see the state of it! The radiators paint was peeling off, the bath room was a complete state, learnt not to shut the... more

Regarding the Guest comments about the room, we would state that some of our rooms have been refurbished in recent months and this is a continual programme. We are sorry that the Guest was unhappy with the standard of decor and would hope that should they decide to visit us again we are able to offer a refurbished room - this can be requested at the time of booking. With regard to the problem of other Guests being noisy, had this Guest phoned Reception one of our Night Service Managers would have spoken to the Guests responsible and had noise continued after this, then the Guests would have been asked to leave the Hotel immediately. We do feel the Guests' comments about breakfast to be unjustified - our food is freshly cooked and we certainly do not water down any of our fruit juices. Unfortunately the Guest did not bring this to anyone's attention at the time - had he/she done so we would have done everything possible to ensure they had a breakfast they would have enjoyed.

Absolutely Horrific
This is without doubt the worst hotel in the world. Where do I start, the water in the bathrooms is either boiling hot or freezing cold( oh yeah and its always dirty ). Pretty much everything in the hotel is broken, the heaters the curtains even the chairs. The beds were extremely uncomfortable one of them was broken. There is noise pretty much throughout the night from drunken holigans singing football chants which the hotel did nothing about. The staff were rude and unhelpfull. My advice would be that the hotel should close. I... more

Some of our rooms are in the process of being refurbished. Had this Guest informed Reception of the problem with the water, the heating and the broken curtains and chairs, the situation would have been rectified although we are not aware of any broken fixtures and fittings - our Chambermaids inform our Maintenance Manager of any defects as soon as these become apparent and they are dealt with immediately as obviously we do not want our Guests to have an uncomfortable stay. Had this Guest phoned Reception to report the noise disturbance, one of our Night Service Managers would have immediately addressed the persons responsible and had noise continued then these persons would have been requested to leave the Hotel immediately.

One look was enough!
I 'checked in' if that is how you could describe it, without comment: the receptionist virtually ignored me throughout the transaction! After leaving reception, I went to my room. The decor was tired, with splashes of what looked like blood on the wallpaper by the bed. The bedding looked as if it hadn't been completely changed and after a few moments looking around the bathroom which had only been cursorily cleaned, I left. After a few exchanges in reception regarding my opinions about the standard of the room I left. I... more

We are very sorry that this Guest did not feel able to stay with us - if we could have the actual date of the stay we will respond fully ot the Guests' comments regarding the Receptionist and the alleged lack of response from Management. We certainly do care about customer service and satisfaction and are always willing to move a Guest to another room subject to availability if they are unhappy. With regard to the cleanliness of the room, all our rooms are thoroughly cleaned and have full replacement bedding as soon as a Guest vacates.

Terrible and the staff/management are rude and clueless!!
We sadly booked our work do at this hotel having heard how fabulous it was. From the start it was a mess - first they said staff had to pay for rooms up front, then they would tell others they only needed a deposit, and even some of us were told we didn't have to pay until we left the hotel after staying. They don't communicate with eachother and sadly its the guests who pay the money who are the ones to suffer. My husband and I stayed over and our room was small and dirty, not 3 star in the least. I can't understand how they received... more

With regard to the alleged discrepancies over requests for payment - our standard policy is to take payment at departure unless a Guest chooses to pay with cash in which instance we take payment upon arrival. No-one is invoiced after departure. I am sorry there seems to have been some confusion with this issue. Whilst not all of our rooms have been refurbished, they are cleaned to a high standard - had the Guest informed us they were unhappy with the cleanliness of their room at check-in we would have moved them to another room, subject to availability. The floors do creak but that happens in old buildings - the Hotel was built in the 1930's. Again, had the Guest brought this dissatisfaction to our attention at the time we would have moved them to a room on the 2nd floor, subject to availability. With regard to someone else being asleep on the bed I can only apologise profusely and also for the fact that full bedding was not replaced - this is unacceptable and the Night Services Managers have assured us that this will not happen again.

Avoid At All Costs!
IF YOU WANT A QUIET NIGHT...GO ELSEWHERE, IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE...GO ELSEWHERE, IF YOU WANT YOUR MONIES WORTH...GO ELSEWHERE. I booked this hotel at 10:00 in the morning when i randomly decided to go to the coast with my girlfriend for the night, they took the payment over the phone and confirmed it was all booked. when we arrived, the receptionist ignored us for the first 5 minutes whilst speaking polish to one of her colleagues. we were finally given the key to our room which was one of the worst i have ever stayed in.... more

Sorry but it is not possible to address any of the issues raised by this Reviewer as so many points are incorrect. If however the gentleman in question would like to contact us directly, we will respond in full.

Ok but not great
We booked this hotel thinking it was a 5* from the photographs on one of the websites- unfortunately it was not. The pictures show a very modern, clean, bright hotel room but this was not true. We booked three double rooms and only one of the rooms were modern and clean. The other two were darkly coulored, not that clean but liveable. The hotel has renovated rooms and not renovated rooms. We had origianally been put down for a not renovated room but once we found this out the receptionist was very nice and changed our rooms. I would... more

We are sorry the Guest found the website pictures different to the actual rooms allotted to them on arrival, however, we do clearly state that the pictures displayed are of refurbished rooms and that we are undergoing a continual refurbishment programme. Guests may request a refurbished room at the time of booking, or even as this Guest did, at the time of check-in and where at all possible, we will upgrade.

Great food & friendly staff
What a suprise!! After reading other reports on this site, my husband and I where very suprised when we arrived at the hotel. As our coach arrived early not all the rooms where ready, but hte hotel provided us all with complementary tea & coffee and we where not kept waiting to long. For the whole stay nothing wazs to much trouble for the staff, they where all very friendly and helpfull! The food selection was great and plenty of it. Just wish we had better weather!!! The bedrooms where fine, clean with plenty of towls, just a little dated... more
