I first visited the Trouville with my parents in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Very 'gentile' then. My wife and I had our honemoon there in 1958. Still the same.
We returned recently for a special Brithday treat paid for by one of our daughters and son in law. We read some of the reviews before visiting and I was shocked at what some people had said, but said nothing to my wife, we just turned up on time.
Wonderful reception. Superb room. Excellent service in the bar for afternoon snacks. Everything seemed fine and how it used to be, but of course brought up to date. Evening Dinner in the Resturant? Again wonderful food which was plentiful and hot. Bedroom Linen very clean and bed comfortable.
All in all, as it used to be.
So what do people complain about? Creaking floorboards. This is an old hotel with central heating. The floorboards have dried out and shrunk. If you don't like creaking floorboards, don't stay in The Carlton Hotel at Sandown on the Isle of Wight, The old part of the Aston Hotel in Coventry, The Carlton or the Mansion Lions, both in Eastbourne or the Grand Hotel Scarborough, the Trecarn Hotel in Babbacombe and so many more which I have stayed in and which have creaky floorboards.
'Tired' decor? This type of hotel is a 24/7/365 hotel and as such, each room is on constant call. Most of the 'damage' I saw was pure carelessness on behalf of the users of the rooms .......... the customers. We had a large stain on the carpet which looked like a bleach stain. Chipped paintwork in the hotel where suitcases had been banged agianst the walls and doorways.
I have seen this in many hotel, the worse I saw? Where a hot iron had been put face down on the carpet. And in a hotel in Llandudno, sheer carelessness and neglect of a customer who left the shower curtain OUTSIDE the bath and flooded the lounge beneath.
So before you complain about anything in an hotel, look at yourself and other customers.
If you are looking for good, clean, warm fine rooms with clean bedding and hot water, superb food and wonderful staff, go to the Trouville. We will be back at the Trouville again, sooner than 53 year gap we have just had.

My husband and I (and our dog) stayed at this hotel over Easter. We got a very reasonable deal that included dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was of a good standard (and plenty of it too!) The pool area was great fun, with a jacuzzi and sauna and we had this whole area to ourselves on both days. The rooms, whilst very clean, were not the most modern that we have ever stayed in, but there is so much to do in Bornemouth and the surrounding area that we did not intend sitting in and starring at the wall paper!! A lovely break and we would definitley go back!!

My wife and I are seasoned travellers and have stayed in hotels in Africa and throughout Europe but have never stayed in a hotel like the Trouville Hotel. The hotel is situated on a steep hill unsuitable for the infirm and elderly. It is situated beside some noisy nightclubs therefore a good nights sleep is nigh impossible. The hotel's decor is dated and the food was poor, bland and uninteresting. The hotel's pool and jacuzzi could not be used for most of the duration of my stay due to flooding. When it did come available the pool and jacuzzi were freezing. In addition I had cut my cold swim early due to the chlorine stinging my eyes. My wife and I seriously thought of staying at another hotel however the hotel was part of a tour. I would have rather stayed on the beach as an alternative.
