NOT 4 STAR
5 / 10
Oct 2011, billyboy

just got back from a weeks holiday at the hotel arena. food was very poor, re-heated pizza and pasta every lunch and night. entertainment was rubbish, eagle show and snake show... thats the best they could come up with. pool bar area was left uncleaned at night. more like a 2 star sometimes, definately not a 4 star. need taxi to get to beach as it takes 30 minutes to walk and 30 minutes to walk to town centre. would not go back again

Excellent stay at Hotel Arena - Sept 2011

We have just returned from relaxing and fun week at Hotel Arena. Weather fab - 35deg every day and never a cloud in the sky!
In for a penny, in for a pound, here is our review:
Arrived late due to delayed flight to be greeted by lovely receptionist who handed us a little picnic as we had missed restaurant service due to the delay. Ok, so it was just a sandwich, fruit and water but it was much appreciated!
We had a fab little 2 room apartment right next to the pool. Large and spacious with air con. Lovely terrace with seating outside and an airer which was very useful. TV not so great, but hey, you can watch all the TV you want when you're at home!! Bathroom very swish but the shower curtain could do with being a tad longer! Clean towels everyday should you want them. Hairdryer a bit rubbish but I took my own anyway as hotel ones usually are! Room cleaned and beds made everyday. We paid for the safe for the week.
2 pools and a childs pool surrounded by loungers intersperced with palm trees. Top tip, even though it says you shouldnt, reserve your lounger at 6 in the morning as everyone is sneaking about doing just that even if they dont use them!
Food perfectly ok. Lots of choice between hot and cold and salad choices. Always with lots of fresh fruit. OK, sometimes leftovers are recycled into new dishes the next day - but whats wrong with that? I cant bear food wastage! Breakfast fab - ate my own weight in bacon and beautiful fresh grilled tomatoes everyday. Can be a bit repetative if on a 2-week hol and sometimes a little bland but us humans can be a fussy bunch and I think they just play it safe. Plus there's always the fail safe get out option of pizza or fish fingers and chips! Wine/ beer/ sangria/ water/ soft drinks on tap,. Very friendly and helpful bar staff serve you the shorts. Be warned, they have no comprehension of measures!
Entertainment a joke BUT we got friendly with the entertainment girl and she says no one want s to do anything! We watched all week as she worked her backside off trying to drum up some interest to do things and no one wanted to know, they just wanted to pefect their tans. People shouldnt complain. We went out a few evenings after dinner to a local spanish bar and had a great time and it was only down the road!
Staff brilliant, so friendly and helpful. Any probs and they'll go the extra mile to help. Tipping the bar staff will get you far, they really appreciate it!
We're going back in March so that says it all really.

Poor Entertainment
6 / 10
Aug 2011, FILBERT

I stayed at the hotel arena for 1 week, with my partner and my 2 children, aged 7 & 11.
The restaurant was ok, the breakfast was very good (English Breakfast) No brown sauce. Generally the food was good, not much choice but you could normally find something.
The pool area was ok, you had to put towels down, early in the morning to get a sun bed. We stay all Inc, but this did not include ice lolly;s, you could buy them, but felt that this should have been included. The only ice cream you could get, was in the restaurant at meal times.
THE ENTERTAINMENT IS WHAT REALLY LET THE HOTEL DOWN.
This was inside, in a basement area, which was very hot, this was the only bar, which was open in a evening. All drinks in this bar were served in plastic cups, even though we were inside, you do not expect this in a 4 star hotel. They played the same CD every night until about 9.45pm, then the entertainment which consisted of Parrot/Snake shows & Karoke x 2, this was very poor, last orders was 11pm, at just after 11pm, the barman would switch off any music, switch lights & TVs off, this made you feel, like you had to leave, the problem is there is no were else to go, apart from bed, and you don't always want to do that on holiday. Or the nearest bar, which is in the town, which is about 20mins away. We did go out a couple of nights, just to get away from the poor entertainment.
We felt this really let the hotel down, and due to the hotel being small, not a lot to do, for children.

At first,we weren't sure about this hotel after reading few bad things about it.we couldn't fault it...we got the best room by the pool.staffs are so friendly and would do their best for you.drinks are very good...food is basic just like any 3/4 stars hotels in europe, but good enough for us,as we knew what to expect foodwise...relaxing place with friendly people...almost perfect!!!!!!! will go back...our 4.5 year old enjoyed it...ADVISE: go all inclusive..it's well worth it..

Really great hotel and holiday

this holiday put fully inclusive back on the map. We have been fully inclusive a few times and been really let down but the arena can take full credit for good food drink and accomadation. Staff are friendly and really got that extra inch for the holiday makers. the bar staff are lovely and go as far to offer cocktails as well as the usual drinks soft and alcholic.
the food was of good selection and really catered for every one if a person can not find something to eat to there liking there has got to be something wrong with the person.
I would only have one complaint as with all holiday resorts there are never enough sunbeds to cater as you always get the people get up and put towels on first thing regardless if they intend using sunbeds or not. Other than that close to all ammenities nice walk to the town and night life or whatever takes your fancy.
Great place

I dont think it could have been any better, All the staff were really friendly and make such an effort with you. The food was good a bit up and down some days but was never poor. The room cleaning staff did a amazing job everyday. Its a fantastic location as its like 5 mins from the main stretch in corralejo worked out at about 4 euros in the taxi. All in all it was great value for money and i'd love to go back!

We thought that the rooms were very good, on arrival we asked if we could have an upstairs room and they changed our room for us. One light bulb was not working and they changed it the next day. Rooms were clean and tidy and towels replaced when you wanted. The food was fine with a good variety, a bit cold sometimes but this is normal for Spain. Staff were always very polite and helpful. We never went to the evening entertainment so cannot comment on it. We hired a car so going to the beach was not a problem. It is quite a long walk to go to the town centre.

My wife and I enjoyed a week's All inclusive holiday at the Arena Hotel. When we arrived at the reception, the male receptionist was abrupt and unhelpful.
The room was super, spacious and comfortable.
The pool bar and the Pool area was very nice and the service at the pool Bar was excellent.
The restaurant was well laid out. the food in general was just OK but got better towards the end of our holiday.
The staff were attentive, friendly and professional and the manager was courteous and charming.
The entertainment was OK.All in all we had asuper stay at the arena.

Excellent Value for Money

My wife and I have just returned from a very enjoyable week's holiday at the Hotel Arena and we both considered it to represent excellent value for money. The rooms are of a good size and, whilst not overly equipped were, fine for what we needed. The english TV channels are lmited to BBC World News and Eurosport, but who needs more on holiday. We stayed on a half-board basis and thoroughly enjoyed the meals, which we found to be good and varied, with a number of of hot and cold choices available each evening. All the staff were extremely polite, helpful and attentive and could not be faulted in any way whatsoever, The whole complex was kept clean and tidy throughout our stay and, possibly to my surprise, a complaint I made about a light switch not working in our room was dealt with almost immediately.
Sufice it to say, we would both happily return to this hotel ourselves, and would recommend it to our friends, as it provided an excellent value for money week away in the sun.

We were very upset to find when we returned home that the clothes we thought
we had left here had been stolen from our Hotel room!!!!
Very clever theif took them on our first day so we thought we had left them at home,
my Husband had new trousers and shirt taken and I had a white lace top and pure silk
black skirt (£175 in all) so be very aware of your belongings,we even left a good tip for the cleaner and staff,Grrrrrrrr

A pleasant place to stay.

I have just come back from a weeks stay at the Hotel Arena and I found it to be a really nice place despite reading some not so brilliant reviews before going on holiday.
The place was spotless, the rooms (216 + 217 have a brilliant pool view) were a decent size and were kept clean and tidy by the maids who did a brilliant job and towels were supplied daily.
There were plenty of sun loungers and although you aren't supposed to reserve them even getting up a bit later, about 9.30ish to go to breakfast the poolside area was quiet and getting a lounger wasn't difficult.
All the staff, with the exception of one guy who seemed a little slow and unhelpful (although this might have been a language barrier thing as his English wasn't brilliant), were friendly and happy to help and couldn't do enough to make your stay a good one. The reception staff were really helpful too and gave us lots of information on the surrounding area when me and my friends were trying to decide what to do during the day.
Good location for both the beach and the town which are only short walks away.
Entertainment was a little iffy but there was a brilliant acrobatics show one night.
The only downpoints that I can think of was the food - do not go to the Hotel Arena with high expectations - the restuarant is decorated with fish and this gives a little indication of the food they serve (fish in abdunance!) - if you like fish you will be in heaven! Choice is very limited (if you are a veggie you are in troule!)often being pretty much the same things for dinner and tea - spag bol, veal stew, chips and various other fish dishes making near daily appearances. Plates, cutlery and glasses also seemed to be in low supply. On the plus point - there's lots to drink and no measures!
Overall I would recommend this hotel and I'd definately stay there again.
