Nice location but not up to scratch
Previous reviewer summed up this hotel. Our second visit, but still service and food are poor for the cost and not value for money. I paid $200 per night and they have the nerve to charge extra for orange juice with breakfast and also you have to serve yourself coffee from a machine rather than waiter service. Room was large but tiny balcony, view of the stairs going up the outside which meant you had to keep your curtains closed and also the road up and down the resort was right outside so minibusses constantly passing by.... more
What a disappointment.
We stayed at the Patera Prince for 5 days in May and were so disappointed. The room was hot, dirty and the toilet leaked. The staff were not helpful and the food was not good. We were forced to take a taxi into Kalkan for our meals. Kalkan is a beautiful place and has lovely restaurants and hotels to offer; we will never stay here again.
Magnificent property: "as-is"
We found the location and the grounds of the Patara Prince to be almost perfect for a quiet sea-side holiday. Dotting the area between the main resort buildings and the sea are numerous small and medium size stone terraces, where you can camp it for the day with a lounge chair while being just down the stairs from a pool and up the stairs from the sea. You can dive straight off the lowest platform into at least 5 meters of clear sea water (terrific for some, but not advisable for waders). The property itself is a couple KM outside of... more
True relaxation
We have holidayed in Kalkan for the last 6 years, and the last two we stayed at The Patara Prince. Beautifully landscaped, with magnificent views from all parts of the complex. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. sometimes requests got'lost in translation' but this seemed to add to the overall ambience. Sunbathing on the sea platforms the peace is only broken by the odd splash as someone dives off the rocks into the clear blue sea. The adults only pool is a haven of tranquility, virtually silent apart from very low background... more
Enchanting
This is a very relaxing place to stay, but you always have the option to be active if you can steal yourself away from your balcony or the lounge chair. This is a lot easier said than done once you become hypnotised by the lovely views. The staff are very polite and friendly. The pace could be described as Hawaiian.. There are many treasures to be found when you explore the resort; like the view from the edge of the top pool, the siesta room near the water, an 'almost' private sun bathing platform by the water's edge, jumping off a 'high'... more
A truly magical place
A truly magical place, with such an array of plants, trees and bushes, all well maintained, combined with the marvellous views: an amateur photographers dream. The whole complex was so clean and tidy, the rooms are cleaned, with sheets and towels changed every day. A well-stocked fridge awaits you in your room, hairdryer, assortment of toiletries, also an overhead fan, which is a must as there was no air conditioning. The food was varied, trying very well to please all the different nationalities. It is a very relaxing and private... more
Serene and welcoming
We visited Patara Prince in August and loved it. It has a beautiful setting and is very green. Although the hotel was full, it didnt feel crowded. We stayed in the hotel but would have liked to have had the freedom to be self catering as the food and drinks were quite expensive to eat all week. We thought the food was generally fantastic, especially the buffets, laid on 3 times a week (with one slightly below average steak) We had fantastic views over the bay at all the dining areas. There is no sand beach but bathing platforms with... more
A very strange place - but quite charming
The Patara Prince Hotel is a very strange place. It is at the centre of a reasonably tasteful development of apartments and houses which occupies the eastern limb of the beautiful Kalkan bay. The complex shares three pools and about a hundred yards of terraces on the rocks along the shore. A boat will ferry you in about 10 minutes to the harbour at Kalkan where there are numerous good restaurants, most set on roof tops overlooking the bay. If the rooms and food were better and the hotel more professionally managed this would be a... more
3 star
Beautiful location and good pools, but needing a refurbishment. Service poor and food average. Not 4 star by any stretch of the imagination!
Great view from the dining room
At first the hilly aspect and the number of villas and rooms at the Patara Prince seem a little overwhelming and finding your way around can be a little difficult. When you do eventually find your way to the dining room the view while you have your breakfast is amazing, but not great value so if you go self catering enjoy a slightly restricted view from your own balcony while enjoying similar fare. Choosing a room is not easy as there are so many choices, spending big bucks does not necessarily mean a good room.We started off in a... more
