Thistle East Midlands Airport Hotel

Stayed at this hotel for four nights mid week with collegues, Good clean air conditioned room with recently refubished bathroom, the tv was useless with channels 1,2,3,4 and two sky sports channels all with very poor picture quality. Had to change rooms due to a terrible loud noise that could be heard for a fair distance around the hotel, was told it was a problem with the heating pipes, i was moved to the new wing of the hotel which was much better and recomended. What a great place to stay! I stayed at the hotel whilst visiting some friends in the area.Its fantastic for those of us who love to shop, what with it being only 20 minutes for Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. The hotel is situated on Notingham East Midlands Airport site Which is great for people who are travelling from there. It has it's own Restaurant and Bar which are both excellent. We stopped at this hotel on the 13th February for one night for £125.00, the room was not up to the standard of a four star Hotel, paper peeling off the walls bath dirty and prices very high (£3.00 for half of larger £7.00 for glass of wine)Evening meal with only one option for vegetarians about £20.00, we found a local pub and had a meal there, swimming pool tiny, overall would not recomend this hotel to anyone total rip off prices.

I was travelling with a group of business collegues and we stayed for two nigths. It was the worst hotel I have ever been in. I stayed in a non-smoking room but it still smelled like an ashtray. It was dark and dirty with uncomfortable beds. There was hair in the shower drain. I woke up several times during the night due to the airplanes taking off. Service was poor. Wow - what a poor hotel in every sense. I spent 3 nights here on business and can state the following : - 1. Rooms terribly overpriced 2. Room was very dark - was on ground floor with very little natural light. 3. 2 single beds which were very uncomfortable. 4. Heating kept malfunctioning so very cold. 5. Only 6 tv channels - bbc1,2,itv,ch4 and 2 sky sports channels. 6. We have never been so ripped off in our lives. Having booked direct with the hotel, we paid £ 179.00 per single room per night. Other twin rooms paid £ 90.00 per room per night so beware when booking direct with the Thistle. When we queried the bill, we were told that the reason why we were charged this amount was because we booked late but other people in our party actually booked a day before and paid half the amount through an internet company. This wasn't my choice, but was arranged on my behalf whilst working in the area. Only use this hotel if you really must be close to airport and have no budget restrictions. I had discounted rate of £110 per night, but was still charged £5 per day car parking !! (how many hotels have you stayed at with a 'guest' car park charge ??). My 'deluxe twin' was dirty (hair in sink and bath plugs and on floor) and far from deluxe - bed linen old, tired and tatty. Hotel bar prices are ridiculous... £3 per pint and more for any bottled beers.... more

I stayed here before flying out of East Midlands Airport. The service was exceptional and the hotel has just been fully refurbished. My room was spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning and my own ironing board in the room. The food in the Restaurant is exceptional and there was a good variey of food served at breakfast. The leisure club provides good facilities for a night's stay. The hotel seems to be the only one actually on the airport complex, which was very convenient for getting to the airport, although a minibus was available... more

Stayed here for the first time 18 months ago. We had been upgraded to a Superior double in the newest side of the hotel. The room was clean, modern, bright and airy but the window overlooked the next corridor-not a problem as it was just somewhere to sleep. Enjoyable room service but very expensive menu. Disturbed at 2.00 a.m. by guests ATTENDING FUNCTION ,ringing room. RECEPTION WAKE UP Call booked for 4.30 a.m. -System does not prevent rude awakening by other guests. Told to unplug phone. Tired continental breakfast restricted to white bread for toasting & cereal. No Baps,flavoured buns,fresh fruit,yoghurts etc Complaint made to General Manager by E-mail on 2 January 2004 on return to U.K. No reply received as at 5 January at 9.00.p.m. Pleasant staff,but that isn't the problem is it ?
