Biggin Hall Country House Hotel reviews

Good place. Clean rooms and beds were very comfy. Facilities are excellent and the owners are very friendly.
The location is close to many local road links, allowing you to get out easily. It’s also very close to the beautiful peak district, but easy to get to too.
A great trip was had by all!

Comfortable Stay
My husband and I stayed for a couple of nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Biggin Hall. The house and garden had lots of character; the staff were friendly and the food was above average. At first, we thought that only serving continental breakfast in the price was a little stingy, but there was lots of choice and we didn't feel obliged to stuff ourselves with a full English. Also, the set menu in the evening was absolutely fine - certainly enough variety to keep us happy and of a good quality. The downsides... more
2-poster
I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and spaciousness of Biggin Hall Hotel when I spent two nights there with my fiancee. No photos of the regular rooms were available on the website, but if you follow the links on --- to the derbyshire section you can find a video snippet of the hotel. I booked on this basis, and was not disappointed. A two-poster bed and spotless marble en-suite bathroom, with vanity dresser and mirror in antique wood were all nice features that added to our stay. I did not try the evening meal, though... more
Nice staff and good location but room for improvement...
My husband and I stayed here Sun 28th- Mon 29th May '06 paying £94 total inc. continental breakfast. The location is great, the staff are nice and the house was lovely, but the sleeping accommodation was just average. We were placed in the apartments (ours had 2 bedrooms) which were a little dated, very small bathroom with a mixer shower and very small old t.v's in each bedroom. We had to move to the second bedroom due to the first bedroom causing allergies (maybe from previous pets?). Rooms and windows not soundproofed, so we did hear... more
Consistently 1st Class
This was our 3rd visit. We both arrived from a fairly stressful environment and straight away, we 'chilled'. The accommodation was 1st class, the staff brilliant and furthermore, the food was 'out of this world'. Breakfast, for those who want to 'chill', was a little bit early ie. 8-9am however, down in Ashbourne, you will find a Baker on the main 'square' who will take care of any late riser's needs. We'll be back!
A perfect compliment to a perfect landscape !
My husband and I stayed here for our Honeymoon, after reading a certain review I was rather concerned that we had made an error on booking here but how wrong we had been misled by this-possibly the person had stayed at different hotel?! We were astounded on arriving in the master suite-large,luxurious and a bathroom to die for! Highlight of the stay was meal times-exceptional cooking even for vegetarians, the only fault is we ate too much and were asleep by 9..The staff are an asset ! We will be returning for our 1st anniversary.
A typically poor British country house hotel
British hotels are the worst in the world, and here is further proof. On paper this is a nice place - a 30 room hotel created from a remote 17th century hall. Some aspects of it are good, too - nice location, a lovely super-king bed in the room and two lounges, one with an open fire and the other with plenty of books, games etc. Food, however, is a disaster. Breakfast is served 8-9 ONLY - even though only a COLD breakfast comes as standard! At 9, they take away the milk! By 8.45, the croissants will be gone. The only items on... more
