Comments:  Went to Cyprus for the first time and stayed in the Blue Crane apartments with 2 children aged 9 and 14. Would not recommend this hotel. The family who run the hotel were rude and very unhelpful. When asking for somewhere to empty our bins on the days that the rooms were not cleaned was like we had asked for a free beer at the bar.
When going to the bar in the hotel there was never anybody to serve and when eventually someone did come to serve you it seemed like you were putting them out.

The brochure stated that there was entertainment at the hotel which wasn't true. The size of the pool is very small and we didn't see it cleaned once in our 2 week stay.

As for the rooms, they looked unkept and were not cleaned very well. Couldn't work out how to use the oven/grill so all we had to cook on was 2 cooking rings and a toaster.

Thank god for the decent restaurants around the area. Michaels and Rebeccas are good places to eat.

There is a very noisy bar underneath the hotel, which at weekends was like a night out in Blackpool with all the local young ones hanging around the hotel. The beach is situated directly across the road being a dual carriageway, which it is a nightmare to get across and at night all you can hear is roaring bike engines.

Comments:  This was our 14th year at the Blue Crane. As usual we had a lovely time. This hotel is family run and the family are very helpful and polite, mainly the reason for returning year after year. Unlike Spain, after going to Spain for many years mainly during the winter months. I still say the Cypriots are more friendly. In fact having returned from the Blue Crane in July we have re-booked for August/September this year again.

We arrived late at night after flying with Cyprus Airways, again, very good flight. On arrival at the Blue Crane we were met by Yanos the night porter, ok, he's not the happiest of people, but pleasant enough.

I must say the noise from the dual carriageway, especially the motor bikes at night are very loud, although once the patio doors are closed, the noise does disappear.

The dual carriageway can be a nighmare to cross, but having said that, most places abroad don't take any notice of pedestrian crossings. You just have to remember this is not the UK.

We visited a few restaurants, Michaels, which has now different staff, food still the same, and the staff are friendly. The Italian restaurant up the road the food is brilliant. The Chinese Restaurant called Pagoda, which is just off one of the side roads at you are going into Limassol town. Drifters on the main drag going into Limassol town. And of course the Kebab House, all these restaurants I would definitely recommend.

We hired a car for one week, we visited two lovely beaches, Ladies Mile and Kourian beach. Both these beaches have showers, toilets and nice restaurants. Kourian beach has a lovely restaurant.

Cyprus has now changed to the Euro, we did find it a little bit more expensive but not over the top. The problem is on the menus they still show the price in Cypriot Pounds as well at the Euro, which is confusing. For instance the special menu shows £6.50cp as well as 11.11 Euro.

Comments:  Apartments clean but basic, maids earn their money, family who run these are not at all friendly and sometimes rude especially the night porter. Very far from nice shops and bars and with young children its a nightmare as the taxi drivers change their fares on a daily basis. Limassol in general was very run down and the dual carriage way out side the apts was a case of taking your life in your hands as they ignore all traffic lights. We were there for a family wedding, but we definately would not go back to Limassol as its run down, dirty and the shops are just tacky nick-nack shops. Very disappointed with overall holiday. Even the locals weren't friendly unlike the spanish or else were. Would not go back!

Comments:  1st time at Blue Crane and would certainly use again, rooms large and well equipped, excellent room cleaning ..even made the beds...not bad for self catering....no hassle staff...surrounded on all sides by restuarants for every taste, very clean and well stocked bar, spotless pool and poolside facilities,.
If I was forced to be critical on any point,it would be probably the noise from the the dual carriageway just out front of the building, but simply closing the sliding doors late in evening solved that.
Would without doubt use again on my next visit to Cyprus and have no hesitation recommending these apartments very highly.

Comments:  A very well run hotel, it was our 5th time there, and we are going back again next September. So Kim and your gang we will see you there.

The food is good, the hotel is quiet, and if you want the beach its just over the road. There isn't any entertainment at the hotel but the night life is just down the road. That's why a lot of people like the Blue crane, nice and quiet, no shouting and balling.

Comments:  We flew with Cyprus Airways, which was a very comfortable flight.

The Taxi was waiting at the airport pre-booked by the Blue Crane.

We arrived very late at night so we didn’t see the family until breakfast; the reception as usual was second to none.

The Hotel was fully booked with a variation of families, single couples etc.

Everywhere was very clean as usual; the maids work very hard considering the heat which hit 42 degrees.

We stayed on the 4th floor in an apartment which overlooked the swimming pool. The beach is just across the road, so we could watch the ships passing in the distance.

Michael’s restaurant is just up the road and was very busy as usual. His special menu has now gone up to 6.50cyp

We didn’t do any site seeing mainly because of the heat, also, the fact this was our 13th year in Cyprus. We have done the coach tours and hired a car.

This holiday was just to chill out, this we done, and came back very refreshed. Just a pity we had to come back to such terrible weather.

Look forward to returning next year.

Comments:  I thought the Blue Crane was a nice, well run friendly hotel. It had everything you wanted; rooms were nice and tidy, well maintained.

There was no entertainment, which suited me, probably ideal for a quiet holiday. Although the area seemed a little run down, maybe it was the fact that we were there early in the season. They had air con, which was not 100% functional.

A well enjoyed break, and I would visit again.

Comments:  This is the second time we have gone to these apartments, they are basic but very clean and the family that run them is fantastic, especially Nicholas the son.

Would have no problem in recommending them to anyone especially families, not too noisy at night which is good with kids.

Comments:  We have just returned from the Blue Crane, the rooms were fairly basic, but clean, and cleaned regular.

I agree with a comment from Mal, the family that run the hotel are lovely people, and they will go out of their way to get you what you want ( although i did find Andreas a little bit moody and sometimes downright rude ) but his lovely brother made up for his miserable face.

Nicholas will make your holiday a good one, he is a credit to his mum and dad, and an asset to the hotel.

As for dining out, we went to Michaels, the food again was I thought, basic, nothing posh, but cheap and cheerful.

We did go to the Nags Head pub a few times, and the food there was as good as ya mum does! As well as having Fosters Lager and John Smiths, which does help. We also went to a bar not to far away from the hotel called Chasers which again the food was good, try the home cooked steak pie!

Overall opinion of the hotel, value for money, you get what you pay for.

Comments:  We have just returned from a fabulous 3 week holiday in Cyprus.

I would definately recommend the Blue Crane, as being a very friendly family run hotel.

This was our 12th year and look forward to returning next year.

The Hotel has 5 floors with 2 lifts and caters for the disabled.

A one bedroomed apartment has single beds with fitted wardrobe, bedside tables, telephone and dressing table. The floor is carpeted.

Bathroom..Full size bath and shower.

Kitchen...well equiped

Lounge...settee which turns into a double bed. 2 chairs, coffee table and TV.

Radio in Bedroom and Lounge.

Both Bedroom and Lounge have sliding patio door which go out onto a balcony which has a table and two chairs.

The bedroom and lounge both have air conditioning.

Our room always overlooks the swimming pool.

The maids keep the rooms spotless. Service is 5 times per week.

The restaurant services lovely well prepared food, at a very reasonable price. A full English breakfast cost C2.75 for this you get 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 1 tomato, 2 rounds of toast, butter, marmalade, jam and a pot of tea.

The bar inside and by the pool is very well stocked. And serves tea and coffee or anything you ask for.

Swimming pool and childrens pool is cleaned daily, also the area around the swimming pool is cleaned every morning.

The Blue crane is owned and run by a family, Demetris, Anna, Andreas and Nicholas. You couldnt wish for a nicer family. Nothing is too much trouble.

From our Apartment we can see the sea, it was lovely in the morning to watch the ships queing to go into port.

There is a main road which is very busy at certain times of the day. Especially at night. There are a few very noisy motor bikes and cars. But all this calms down after 12 midnight.

2 minutes walk from the Hotel, you are on the main road, the no 30 bus takes you anywhere you want to go and cost 80 cents. 20 mins on the bus and your in town, or 5 cypriot pound by taxi. The town is full of lovely shops, all very different, going from one extreme to the other, very modern to typically old Cypriot.

Accross the main road behind some apartments is the beach which is very narrow but very clean. To walk along the at night is a must...so romantic. The path is blockpaved, so walking is very easy if you dont want to walk on the sand.

Along the main road are many different restaurants to choose from all the restaurants caters for different tastes. We did eat many times at Michaels. Pizza hut is about 5 mins walk up the road and the staff are very friendly.

We also ventured a little further by taxi and went to the Terra Mar restaurant, very pricy but the service was second to none. The food was outstanding.

I would definately recommend Limassol as a base for visiting the rest of the island, Limassol is situated 45 mins from Paphos airport and 45 mins from Larnaca Airport.

At the moment there are road works just outside Paphos as they are building a fly over.

I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

Looking forward to returning again next year.

Comments:  We have just returned from a weeks holiday in the Blue Crane apartments and would recommend them. The weather has been extremely hot and the air conditioning was very welcoming at night time.

We prefer the quieter strip to the main resort and found a variety of bars/restaurants to choose from. Our favourite was Danae which had a selection of Cypriot and international dishes. we also would recommend Rebecca’s and The Stallion Inn near to the apartments, and although we had a nice meal in Michaels which was very popular, we had a bad experience with some undercooked fish, and so did not return. Most of the bars offered a pint of Keo or Leon for £1.

Harmony Beach is very clean but dark sand and pebbly, and very hard going under foot if going for a paddle/swim. The beds on the beach range from £1 to £1.25 per day. Ideal if you just want to peace and quiet. The beach attendants add a table with sand bowls for ashtrays if needed and a bowl of water at the end of the beds to clean the sand from your feet after swimming.

There is a regular bus service to the main resort and costs only 80cents, nice variety of shops to choose from.

Comments:  I would recommend these apartments to anybody, these were lovely apartments, very spacious and well equipped, we had a one bedroom apartment for the 2 of us. Our balcony did not overlook the pool, it overlooked the hotel next doors pool which was not a problem to us.

The only problem with the apartments is that it is quite a bit away from the main tourist area, but it is only 80 cents on a bus which is about 5 minutes away, and about £3-£4 in a taxi.

There are a lot of boy racers about on the roads, so you have to be very careful, this is another reason which we were glad our room did not overlook the Blue Crane pool as you would be able to hear the boy racers then.

We went to a Chinese in the main tourist area called Mr Chews, please everybody KEEP WELL AWAY from it, we had just sat down when a family was leaving and they told us to get out of the place coz it was that bad, but we had already ordered by then, so thought we would stay, we got our starters, mine was prawns in garlic and my boyfriends was won ton soup. Mine was actually swimming in garlic, I took a bite of it and thought i was going to be sick, and didn't eat anymore as I was scared I would get ill, my boyfriend said his soup didn't have any stock in it and just tasted like water, we had our starters and left.

I would recommend Michaels to anybody which is just round from the Blue Crane apartments, this place is lovely for food and reasonably priced with good portions.

Overall great holiday, and very nice apartments.

Comments:  A mixed review for this hotel. We've just returned from two weeks at The Blue Crane from the end of February '06 to March '06 - we chose The Blue Crane on the strength of the super reviews we'd seen online.

The good points first. The one room apartments are very spacious and extremely well equipped, they're immaculately clean and maid service is five times weekly which is more than you'd usually expect for a self catering complex of this rating. Reception is similarly spotless and a well stocked bar serves a good range of drinks at reasonable prices.

The hotel overall could use a lick of paint in places, but that's purely cosmetic. Staff vary from the very friendly and helpful, to a couple the less than welcoming and sometimes downright rude.

The biggest drawback for me was that the brochure made no mention of the fact that the hotel is situated on a very busy and noisy dual carriageway. You have to cross that, and go down past the peeling tower blocks opposite to get to a small and somewhat uninspiring beach. The aforementioned tower blocks mean that you can't really get a sea view at The Blue Crane.

Overall a nice hotel for those on a budget - but not ideal if you're looking for the beautiful beaches and quiet Mediterranean holiday that you'd expect from Cyprus.

Comments:  This was our 7th holiday at the Blue Crane. As always the entire hotel and pool area were spotless.

Demetrius, Anna and family are the most lovely people and nothing is too much trouble for them.

There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. Would recommend Rebeccas and Micheals for great food at very reasonable prices.

Getting out and about is no problem as local buses are very reasonably priced.
Can't wait for next summer!

Comments:  This was a terrific place to stay, good swimming pool, very clean rooms, polite staff. Brochure states there are no TV’s in rooms but there is one in every room. One English movie channel which shows recent movies, sky news, euro sport and the rest were Greek channels. however out and about.

Plenty of good eating places but definitely recommend Michaels place about 100 metres to the left as you come out of apartments. Full English breakfast costs 2.50cyp. Meals start at 4.50cyp for gammon steak, egg, pineapple, veg and chips. Portion is so big they give you the chips on a separate plate. Fillet steak, chips etc. Costs 9.25 cyp. And you’ll struggle to finish it. We ate their every night (4 of us ) and the bill was never any more than 21cyp including drinks.

Cheap fags and drink to bring home but shop around. Main shopping area is about 20 minutes walk. Pretty hard to do in the heat, but still a lovely place .not noisy like Ayia Napa although there is an area for the young ones with plenty of bars with thumping music if that’s what your after .

All in all a great place for a family holiday and very hot in July. 105 degrees every day. Air con was on all night in room. I am in the process of booking same place for next year, and I have never visited the same place twice.

You have got to visit the water park it is amazing 14cyp for adult 7cyp for kids under 11. My son is 13 but we only got him a child ticket no problem. Don’t buy any tickets from the rep. There is a wee hire place 75metres to the right of the hotel where you can book anything cheaper. Bus will take you anywhere 75cents. Or hire a car .you can hire a Toyota corolla for example for 8cyp per day. There are plenty of car hire places near the hotel. By the way there are plenty of shops near the hotel you don’t need to go the 7 kilometres to the main town
