stayed at the burnside 10 years ago and the accomadation and food were 5 star, what a disappointment on our return for my wifes birthday, the room was clean but dated but the staff were surly and aloof and the resturant food was no better than cheap pub grub, stay at at a 20... more

We have stayed at the Burnside for many years now, but never at Christmas. The Chrismas package was excellent, good food in a great hotel, there was one thing that spoilt it, DOGS! Every other person had brought a dog to the hotel, there were dogs running around the hotel... more

Had a lovely stay at this hotel. The reception and rooms all look recently refurbished and are kept very clean. The food in the restaurant is excellent and has a very wide choice. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The views from the hotel are spectacular and Bowness... more

Nice hotel, staff need to learn some manners
I booked this hotel for a one night getaway with my husband. We stayed in a suite on a dinner bed and breakfast basis in a suite. The suite was huge with a dressing area, ensuite bathroom, sleeping area, lounge area and balcony. The room was lovely and clean but could do with a refit due to the mismatch of furniture and several pieces of furniture on its last legs. We spent most of the day in the annex which housed the pool and a lovely sports bar with a few snooker tables. When leaving the annex my husband wanted to... more
Wonderfult time but!
Recentley stayed at this hotel as guests at a function.Wonderful time.Prime location with excellent views.Very comfortable and spacious entertainining rooms.Check in very fast and smooth, staff throughout the hotel very courteous and helpful. Food was first class, well presented. The Hotel even permits guests to take their dogs in selected rooms.Rooms well maintained and pleasant outlook. A small critisism on stocking the bar - no choice of real beer - only Boddingtons on stock - you can do a lot better than this with numerous... more
excellent hotel
we arrived on thursday 21.6.07 at 1,00pm we knew we was 2hrs early but you never know, the young girl on the reception said no problem and booked us in. and from then til we left on sunday morning we had an excellent time at the hotel .the staff in every department were very friendly and helpful, the food was of a high standard and a good selection and no waiting even though it was busy.the hotel is also in a lovely location right next to the lake.i would recommend this hotel anytime and will be going back again.
Lovely Hotel
We stayed at this lovely hotel for 2 nights bed breakfast and evening meal, the room we had was a family room and was lovely bright, and spacious with a lake view the bathroom looked like it had been decorated recently. The staff very friendly and food good the breakfast was excellent. Overall a nice quiet hotel with stunning views from the lounge area. Would recommend to our family and friends.
Just about OK
We booked this hotel in the early evening after having problems with the original hotel we had booked. We were shown our room which was large and had a lake view, the decoration and furnishing was OK, bathroom seemed newly refurbished. The package we had booked consisted of bed breakfast and evening meal. The evening meal was resonable - but I have certainly had better, on finishing our meal we went into the bar area which is in need of some serious re-decoration/design, unforunately after being there a short while we were joined by two... more
Very Nice Hotel
My wife and i visited the Burnside on a last minute wekend away over the weekend of 27-29 October.Considering the fact that i actually booked the room on Friday afternoon at 3pm i thought the room we were allocated was excellent(standard double room 230).The en suite facilities looked brand new and certainly a lot better than some hotels we have stayed in around the UK.The room didnt have a lake view but that didnt matter it had a balcony and over looked the rear of the hotel and was fine.Food wise breakfast was fine in silhouettes... more
Good position
We stayed 1 night at the Brnside hotel and had a comfortable room with a balcony and lakeside view. I agree with other reviews that the reception areas are rather odd. There was a wedding on the day we were there (thursday) which took out the outside small patio in the afternoon and the main sitting room with vocalist in the evening. Also we were planning to use the facilities at the leisure centre but were told all the massages and beauty treatments were fully booked for the next 4 days but there might be something next week . The... more
a good winter deal
booked a two night break for the family of 4, dinner bed and breakfast for £214.00. The room was excellent, warm and cosy with a double bed and 2 singles, much better than the usual sofa bed. Also the two sleeping areas were slighlty partitioned from each other for more privacy. The bathroom looked as though it had been recently renovated and beautifully tiled. The dinner was ordinary and typical hotel fayre and the childrens menu did not offer a great choice, but the service was good and the staff very pleasant. The kids loved the... more
Lovely Lakeland retreat
Booked into the hotel, for a weekend break. For a 3 star hotel it certainly is value for money at only £120 per night. Room was modern and spacious exceptionally clean with lovely views of the lake, en-suite was practically brand new! large and very clean with lovely crisp white fluffy towels. The communal areas are lovely two 2 huge lounges with comfy leather sofas and fantastic views, Food was excellent and all staff very polite and friendly. Especially the young female receptionist and male manager who we encountered on both days, both... more
Mixed review for the Burnside
A group of 7 of us stayed at the Burnside. 5 of us stayed in the timeshare portion of the hotel in a 2 bedroom condo. 2 of us stayed in a room in the main hotel building. The condo portion was nice enough, clean and well equiped, but small. It was also a bit chopped up, since it was on 4 different levels. One bedroom and bath was on the top floor and the other bedroom and bath was on the bottom floor. There was no bathroom on the either the living or kitchen floors. It had a very small balcony off the living area. The room in the... more
