Vangelis ApartHotel

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Vangelis. Apartments situated at the centre of the resort but quiet. The swimming pool is large and cleaned daily although is full of children running round. The rooms are spacious ( we had an one bedroom apartment) and very clean.
We were on self catering and ate at the restaurant most of the times. Portions are fairly big and at reasonable prices (try the homemade burgers). The buffets at night all you can eat at a set price (6-6.5 pounds). You can also upgrade to all inclusive which works out if you have children.
The centre of Protaras is only a few minutes away and is full of bars and restaurants.
We really enjoyed the fire show at the Vangelis. We will be definitely going back next year

The hotel was looking cleaner than what it was. The sea was a good distance away so u had to pack and unpack to go there, especially if you had children the service was ok-ish, but very clumsy.
We had to pay 10 pounds deposit for each remote control in the room (A/C and TV) and for that we had to go twice to the reception because they didn’t inform us when we booked in. I believe they did that because they had the sort of people who would steal a remote control staying there.
The food is BAD. We ordered the chicken kebab and there were only two sticks with tiny winy bits of meat on them, no more than half a hamburger from McDonalds, which were cooked for the 3rd time at least. They tasted very bad. The plaice had an “accident” on his way to our table, and I believe the waiter took it for a ride in the kitchen and then back there as there was no time to cook another one in two min. From the food we got diarrhoea and we are Cypriots (in case you think we are not used to it). EAT OUT and be careful in Protaras as there are a lot of tourist traps.

A very welcoming place to stay, the hotel provided good entertainment for the kids although at night the shows were very weak. This was due to the Vengelis being just off the main strip. If you like the sun and sea then Protaras is spot on there’s speed boats jet skis brilliant. The food at the hotel would get a 6/10 not very good really but if you wanted to save some cash the all inclusive option was good value. A nice swimming pool with plenty of sun beds the Vengelis was certainly clean and the view from our 3rd floor sea view apartment was simply stunning.
Cyprus its self I found to be quite expensive and to be perfectly honest the weather is available anywhere in the Med, or the Canaries. But we enjoyed ourselves but won’t rush back maybe in about 10 years when we have done the European cities. I travelled with my wife and my 10yr old son.

Vangelis was really brill, it was the best place we have ever been. There is plenty for the kids in the day with the entertainment from Mikey and Zara and in the evening. Everyone was friendly and karaoke nights were fab!!!
Its a 2 second walk to shops bars and restaurants, all right on your doorstep!!! The beach is lovely although the sand is very hot..... BEWARE!
The apartments were clean, no bugs and the service is good!! The bar staff are very friendly and fit. Happy hour....you get lots of free drinks.. well we did!!
The clubs don’t open to early hours of the morning which is really good, I recommend you go to boogies and the Q Club.
That’s about it.

I had a great holiday in Protaras and this was helped by the Vangelis. We ended up upgrading for a few days to self catering. It was great for the kids and also for the cocktails.
I have never went back to the same resort or hotel but I have just re booked to go back next year.
The entertainers are especially good during the day as I have a 12 year old girl, at night the entertainment was not as good although we had a good crowd of holiday makers at the same time and made some of our own entertainment.
A thoroughly fantastic holiday was had by all and 12 of us are going back next year 3 families who had never met before.

These apartments are recently renovated from their former Pilades title. Good, clean apartments with no insects, funny smells or mosquitoes in sight. At first we were allocated a room, which had not been cleaned - as you can imagine I was less than impressed. This was however quickly and apologetically dealt with and resulted in us being allocated a 1 bedroom instead of a studio, so we saved about £400. Excellent. Also air conditioning is free just ask at reception after everyone is checked in and you pay a £10CY deposit which is refunded when you return the control back, with your receipt! Maid service is very good and occurs 6 times weekly - not on a Sunday! The pool is of a large size although it is not the cleanest in the world with bits of food refuse and debris lying about. The room we had 4301 had a poor view - although I did not spend too much time looking at it as I was far too busy with enjoying my holiday!! We were in Block D, which is, by all accounts the best block. Block B is across a road from the swimming pool but the road is not busy - more of a car park than a road!
If you are going enjoy yourself - don’t be worried by negative reviews there are good reviews too. Your holiday is what you make it - so go relax. And yes, I will come with you if there is room in your suitcase.......

Our first time in Protaras with a late booking deal at the Vangelis apartments. Really impressed with the apartments, which were in block c with views of the sea and the pool. Very clean apartments with no charge for a/c.staff and waiters/waitresses were happy to help and were cheerful. Manager at complex there everyday from 10am to 10pm to make sure everything runs smoothly thanks Louis. Excellent food and well presented at breakfast and evening meal. Good entertainment for children every night .lots of hard work put in by zarra and micky every day to entertain everybody with daily activities like water polo and football. All in all an excellent holiday and yes I will go back again. PS. Don’t miss the entertainment at the Rockefellers bar with jimmy spender six nights and Elvis show on Sunday it is the best I have seen.

Our second visit to the Vangelis, and just like our first ten out of ten. The Vangelis is central, close to the beach(and what a beach) not that you would want to go as there is a large pool at hand. Great reps to keep the children busy doing different activities each day(water polo, table tennis, air hockey, football ect) not forgetting the adults. Although self catering there is an option to upgrade to half board/all inclusive or snacks available through the day to keep you going. Also evening entertainment each day, but if you feel the need to venture out the local bus stops directly outside and runs quite frequent. AS A WHOLE SUPERB HOTEL,EXELLENT RESORT,CLEAN LARGE ROOMS,GOOD FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT.KEEP IT UP AND SEE YOU AGAIN JUNE 2006.

Vangelis apartments are very clean and spacious, we stayed in block c, which overlooked the pool and had sea views.
Lovely pool for both kids and adults and plenty of sun beds. Beautiful beach only 5 mins walk away, just be weary with young children playing next to the sea as bat and ball is the national sport for Cypriot youths especially in the afternoons and weekends. Sea very clean, shallow and warm ideal for young children.
Eating out is excellent value for money with many restaurants competing against each other, many restaurants/bars also have designated play areas for kids.
Make sure you visit the water park in Ayia Napa great fun for toddlers up to adults(buy tickets from Tsilva travel shops in Protaras, cheaper and fast entry into water park)
Great Family Resort would definitely return.

Had a fab time at the Vangelis.
We had a ground floor, pool view apartment. Really clean and large enough for the 4 of us. Had air-con although did have to leave a deposit.
Really good atmosphere around the pool. Everybody seemed to be having a good time. Have to say this was mainly down to the fab reps getting everyone involved in activities like water polo etc.
Staff were nice and helpful, didn’t really like the food only used the restaurant once (our first night)
We didn’t really hang around the apartments in the evening as they were that close to all the local bars and restaurants so cant really comment on evening entertainment.
Fab beach across the road and for the young ones who want better nightlife, Ayia Napa was only a 10 minute taxi drive away.
Cyprus is a really great place and would recommend hiring a car as there is plenty to see outside of Protaras like Famagusta, Nicosia and we also found a go carting track (apparently the largest in Europe)
And to top it all the weather is the best that I have had in the med in October before.
Overall 10 out 10 definitely going again.
