Mersoy is great
I would like to say that we have stayed at the mersoy hotel 6 times now and i can't praise the hotel enough. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well cleaned and serviced. We have never had to ask for anything as everything has been done before hand and anything that has needed repair or replaced has been done within 10 mins. There is entertainment at the hotel most nights . It also has its own beach space . The owners of the mersoy are always there to help you with any problems that you might have. I will be going back to the mersoy again next year and hopefully for many more years to come I think that the Mersoy is an excellent hotel.
What a Fabulous Holiday!
OK. so youve ready the previous reviews as I did and are now very worried about your trip. We nearly cancelled the holiday following reading the reviews and im so glad I didnt. The fear caused spoilt the beginning of a very good holiday. I know it was good because Ive had traumatic holidays in the past. Lets get started. The only guests that we saw as a problem at the Mersoy were sadly English guest. We and other fellow English guests felt quite ashamed at times after listening to and watching the apalling behaviour of some of our fellow countrymen. The rest of the guest were beyond reproach. The Mersoy Exclusive is part of three building in a triangle. Yes you do cross a street to get to the facilites, but it’s a cobbled type back street and takes 4 seconds to cross. Once you see it youll see that it is not an issue. The Exclusive is modern. Light in the hall come on when you enter). The rooms are sharp and spotless, very nice to be in. The rooms had sky and my son was very happy with the tv whilst we got ready. Turkish tv is really quite good, even I caught myself drawn in. We arrived in the middle of the night after a delayed flight (caused by the baggage handling system at Manchester airport). Taken to our room which was too small. They didn’t event let us in the room and insisted we allow them to get us a better room, which they did within 10 minutes. The room was fantastic! Woke up freezing in the middle of the night because the air conditioning worked so well. Wont feel very good in the day, but youll see the benefit at night when you need it. The restuarant was outside and was brilliant. The food (cant believe im going to say this) was fabulous. tonnes of salads and hot delicious freshly cooked food served outside. If you want to eat well and lose weight you can. Food was far better than any ive ever eaten on holiday! Remember if they put fresh salad out in the morning . you will see some of it at lunch. No different than this country. Well protected. NEVER saw one fly (unlike elsewhere). Very, very clean. Remember there is no need to rush. There is plenty for 4 hotels and you cat get up for more than just one serving. I did and they loved that you like their food. We never had a problem getting a bed to sunbath on. The pool is exceptionally clean and serves you well. Yes, some beds are ‘towelled’ early in the morning ( by English guests if we are to be honest. I saw them do it at 5am!). But we ALWAYS found spare beds to chill out on. Never heard that awful blue Lace type music once. The music around the pool and bar area was exceptional. We left late most nights to go out because the music was so good. No entertainment team to myther you to play pool games. I heard Thompson was using this hotel now and fear the worst. As you are not isolated there is really no need to be entertained at night. You do get the street dancers and Turkish acts on the Saturday evening though, but there is plenty in Ishmeler and you would feel left out if you stayed in the hotel. The resort or Ishmeler is brilliant! The salesmen were never agressive (like Kusidasi). Still gets on your nerves just a little after a week and they never insult you. not enough to put you off. Remember to change your money at the local shops, you get more. If you want to use the gym. Go at 9 am for the running machine. I went on at 6 pm as well and then did some lengths in the indoor pool. The Turkish bath is excellent. They treat you well and you WILL be de-stressed at the end. Cleaner that the Turkish baths at the excellent Hotel Fantasia in Kusidasi. Rules of engagement Leave a tip for the cleaners. Fold your dirty towels up and put them on the floor. Place the tip on top so there is no misunderstanding that it’s a tip. Your room will suddenly smell perfumed as well as spotless when they visit. Give a couple of lira to every one that gives you a service. Remember 4 Lira is only about £1.50. and will go a long way. I got a extra special treatment when I went for the Turkish bath (it was great) ALWAYS say please and thank you (worth more than money). Thank the staff when they take away your plates. Its simple manners and is so much appreciated. ALWAYS remember that the staff are human and have off days. Wouldn’t you if your home was 20 hours drive away and you work upto 16 hours every day in the blistering heat. Don’t turn up for breakfast on your first day at 9.50 am (when breakfast is till 10am), Refer to the staff member as ‘boy’ and then threaten to play holy hell if they don’t get some pancakes to you within the next three minutes! Yes it really happened and yes they were English (shame on you) A smile goes a LONG way Turkish people have a lot of dignity and should be treated with respect. Trips Don’t go to the Ephisis at the end of your holiday. Go early in the week and at night if you can. 7 ½ hours on a coach starting at 6 am is not nice. The heat is unbelivable (47 in the shade) and you will feal a little used and ripped off when they keep stopping at places hoping that you spend more money. Great history lesson by the guide.. The Ceramic factory seems boring until you watch a master potter, WoW! Make sure you go on the quad safari (even with your mum) it is unbelievable. Beware of Muslim women in full traditional dress, especially the mothers and grandmothers, they are very mischevious and are more fun than you would ever believe. You will be soaked and will be FULL of mud! Absolute brilliant day out!!!! Horse safari wasn’t as good as in Kusidasi. Horses look under fed and the ride is VERY uncomfortable. Quite disappointed with this. Heard the jeep safari was fantastic from quite a few people. Never had time to try it. Give it a go. Remember take either a waterproof bum bag or leave your mobile/camera at the hotel. My mobile is now useless. But to be honest I had that good a time that Im not at all bothered. They will take pictures and you have the option to buy some at the end. Usually 10 lira each (£3.80 ish). I bought 6 and they were well worth it . They are usually delivered to your hotel around midnight that night. Remember when they say a meal is included in a trip we usually found out that it did not include drinks. The aqua park (Aqua Fantasia) near Kusidasi is amazing (and I mean AMAZING). This one we went to in Marmaris is ‘ok’, not worth staying a full day though. Kids will still like it. Shopping You cant barter as much as in Kusidasi. They are just too polite. But you will still come away with great bargains. Remember the silver jewellry is one to go for. You may get carried away. Go to the promenade at night its lovely and the shopping if fabulous. Salesmen down there are a touch more in your face than the resort itself. Always try to buy from the children. Give them a tip that they can keep for themselves. (I’ll say no more in this subject) Hope this helps. Just go with an open mind. They expect the English to be polite and respectful and from what I gathered it hurts them when we are not. Don’t let the side down and youll be well looked after.
Loved the Mersoy Exclusive
Mersoy Exclusive is a superb hotel with spacious rooms as good as 5 star qualities. Staff is so helpful and nice swimming pool area. I think that some people need to get a reality check and stop complaining. The hotel was lovely and everybody was great. There were 11 of us who went (of all ages) and we are all dying to go back to the same hotel next year but for longer. There is nothing to complain about. The shops and bars are two minutes away from hotel one way and two minutes away to the beach the other way. Can't wait to go back next year.
Turkey Boy
Beware this hotel - as they very often don't have the rooms that you booked. We had to wait 4 days, staying in the 3* part of the hotel prior to getting our booked room in the 4* exclusive. Other people were less lucky - and were booked into other hotels. When we got the room - for Turkey - the 4* exclusive rooms are good. However be aware that you will eat in the 3* main hotel - so it is very misleading to refer to the holiday as being 4*. Food is ok - but after 2 weeks gets very repetative - and there is little choice each day. Entertainment was limited to one night a week. Pool areas were kept clean - and are a reasonable standard. Though there didn't seem to be lots of sunbeds - we never had problems getting one (maybe that was the temperature - July/August is extermely hot) Staff were attentive, and courteous - so no complaints there. If you can get this Hotel, last minute and cheap - and are prepared to eat out occasionally - then it isn't too bad. After all - you do get what you pay for. But the hotel desperately need to get their booking system sorted out. On a more positive note - Icmeler is lovely - and I would recommend the resort itself to anyone (though don't go if you want a sandy beach). The people seemed less persistent than we have found in other parts of Turkey - or maybe the Turks are finally realising that the British don't like to be chased down the street begging you to eat at their restaurant.
dont go there!!!
This was a holiday from hell!!!! we were put in the rong hotel for the two weeks!!! we paid for a 4 star and end up in the 3 star. we were given a free turkish bath and a safe box to say sorry!!! after a week we realised the turkish bath was for free for everyone!!!!!!!! and you got a free safe box in the 4star!! the reseption staff at nite were not consentrating on whet they were ament to be doing!! the bar staff were lovely!!!! and the food was ok!!! the rooms in the 3 star are way to small!!! if you have booked to go here!!! try the restaraunt at the front of the hotel were fonzie or mustafa were so helpfull!!! spent many memorable nights their!!!!! but just dont book here!!!! u will regret!!!
do not book this hotel!!!
What can i say about the mersoy exclusive? We payed for its 4* facilities but room and service would be lucky to get a 2* in my eyes! Went as newly weds for a weeks honeymoon in the sun and they put us in a shoe box with 2 single beds!? Was told get upgrade in two days as all exclusive rooms taken! our upgrade was to another shoe box with a double bed and worse air con! how these people can sell you an exclusive room and then give us a sweat box is a disgrase to them and the travel agents who recomend them! All inclusive food was ok for first two days but same thing got put out each day so we ate away from hotel and the lager is served in a half pint glass that was never full and think its about 1% !!! I also agree with another comment about the managment shouting at staff whilst we eating but i saw that a few times around Turkey and think its just the way they are. If you are ever unfortunate enough to stay at Mersoy i recomend Bamboo Resturant down by the beach who cooked us a lovely dinner most days then Wonderboys Bar at night where the lads are brilliant at entertaining very pollite good beer and nice food, thanks to them for making our week in turkey a better one.
dont go here
this was the worst holiday i have had, when we arrived was told no rooms at the excluive and put in this littlte dirty room at the 3star, refused the room and given another not much better, after two days moved to the exclusive/ two days living from suitcase, the food was terrible cold chip ons meat ,take or leave and a salad, the same every day. when i complained to the tour operator on our return got no joy. so my advise dont go to this hotel and donot uses XL travel.
Dissapointed isnt the word for it
Well where should we start, our holiday was a total disaster from the beginning. We had a bad time at the airport, got transfered to east midlands from birmingham and then got delayed a day and put in a hotel for the night. Then finally arrived at the mersoy exclusive just in time for dinner, well we gets in room that wasnt bad but then as soon as we went down for dinner we knew from that moment what the holiday was going to be like. The food was absolutely awful, the tomatoes that were being served were obviously from previous days they were dry as dry. The plates were so small we thought the food was being rationed lol and when you went up for more you were given funny looks from staff. Every single day we had salad and more salad. The management wasnt exactly pleasent, being nasty to staff infront of everybody around pool etc. As we said, the room was OK but there was no receptionist on the front of our hotel making it possible for anybody to walk in, the lights outside the rooms in ciorridors never worker and the maid only changed our bed linen and towels once in the week. Also in the description of the hotel it makes out that the Mersoy hotel and the Mersoy exclusive hotel are two different hotels with different restaurants and everything but when we got there, we had to eat, drink and attend the pool at the mersoy 3* hotel when we had paid for the 4* mersoy exclusive. For some people you only get one holiday per year if that so it was a total waste of our money and time. I would definately not recommend this hotel to anybody at all, it was a total let down and has put us of turkey. The only good part about our holiday was being put up in the HILTON HOTEL over night because of our delay.
Total disappointment
We have just returned from a two week holiday at the 4* mersoy exclusive and wat a nightmare. The four of us arrived early hours of the morning and were told there was no room for us in the 4*so we were given 2 rooms at the annex which is a 3*,speaking to other guest this seemed to happen 2others.Well where do i begin we payed 4* price all inclusive and was eating meals at the annex whch is 3*.I would rate even this as a 2*.We new it would not be like english food, but the food was served from a hot trolley???but was always cold even if you were first to be served all meals served on tea plates, cold rice ,veg meat and potatoes from the hot plate.Salads served inside,no butter available only in the mornings although bread was served at all meals.Although i new english breakfast would not be on the menu i thought a basic thing like a toaster would be available.I have been to cuba ,dominic, and many other counteries and have never felt the need to put a review on the internet. We believe this is below trading standards rec as we were given false hope of this hotel ie,being severd at a 3* no mini bar as stated,no entertainment.I would definately not recommend this hotel to anyone.
No Entertainment
Have just returned to Nr.Ire from a week in the Mersoy Exclusive Hotel in Icmeler. We travelled with Goldtrail and booked with Med hotels we did not have a rep. There was No entertainment at this hotel all the week we were there. No kids club. They could do with more sun loungers as the ones there, were booked from early morn, and if you didn't get down early you had no chance of getting one. The staff were all very friendly and beds and towels changed everyday. The rooms are quite spacious. The food is not really catered for British, as we love our bacon, sausage and fried eggs and you do not get any of these, we were all inclusive but we had breakfast and dinner out on a few occassions. We like Icmeler and if we go back we would go self catering and eat out. We enjoyed eating out at Champagne, the food there was excellent, and the boys are great craic. Hi to Rena and Michelle, from Carol & Vicky & Ryan xx look forward to your review
