Miramar Hotel

We stayed at the Miramar the last week in May, my 84 year old mother, my daughters aged 10 and 12 my sister and myself and the hotel catered for all our age groups. The staff were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. `it was my sisters birthday the day we arrived and they arranged a surprise in her room of wine and a beautiful birthday cake. We have just returned from a fabulous honeymoon at the Miramar and couldn't have asked for anymore. The rooms are spacious and well decorated (we had 324) with a beautiful bathroom with "his and hers" sinks!! The food was fantastic, a generous buffet for breakfast and a 5 course waiter served meal in the evening on their gorgeous panoramic terrace overlooking the bay!! An excellent hotel with wonderful sea views and lovely food. We had room 325 which was a lovely big room and in very good decorative order with 2 wash basins, great shower, bar, towelling robes and slippers and comfortable beds. The view was terrible from the balcony!! We looked over the rooftop and wasteland - most rooms had much better views (apparently this was a land view room!!! I have just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Miramar. As other reviewers have stated it is an Austrian run hotel and therefore the guests are predominately Austrian/German. That said, the staff were extremely accommodating and all spoke with good enough English for them to answer our questions, and they were all very pleasant to deal with. The hotel is extremely well run, with welcome drinks, day trips out, morning newsletters (in English), evening entertainment and sporting activities (belly dancing lessons!). You can join... more

We stayed at the Miramar in September and had a wonderful stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and could not fault the hotel in anyway. We found no problems with getting sunbeds, although there are not that many sunbeds that get the sun all day you but you certainly do not have to get up at 6.00am to reserve one as per a previous report. The Miramar belongs to an Austrian company and it shows. The guests are, almost all, middle aged Austrians who stare, umpolitely, i might had, at you. Our room, a suite, was not bad, but was also nothing special and the much advertised beach was a rock pier cramped with people and chairs. the breakfast was very good but forget about pampering, if you want a chair by the pool you have to wake up at six o´clock and try to beat those who reserved as many chairs as they can and though the massages are great, the pedicure and manicure left... more

Oh Wow!! Just Perfect. I can't understand how this hotel gets mixed reviews. We stayed from 1-8 July 2006 and it was fantastic. We had a super room (442) with a sea view. The sea view is definitely worth paying the extra for. You've been told. The room was large with good air conditioning. It was clean and the bathroom was large with two sinks and a bath, spearate shower and toilet. Nicely decorated in light wood. The dining room is sophisticated. This hotel should have been good. It has a lovely setting on the rocks, although our 'marvellous' seaview we were told we had was down the side of the hotel building in front. The room was for three of us and was a little cramped, the air-conditioning was very welcome, but the door to the balcony didnt open properly because of the wardrobe. Recently renovated, this is a good hotel with decent service. We had a great room with lots of space, our own veranda and excellent views. Food is okay to good. Would certainly stay there again. But it is far more expensive than any of the other hotels we found in Opatija.

We stayed at the Hotel Miramar in August as part of a package with a major lakes and mountains holiday provider. Rooms were advertised in the holiday brochure as either lake view or park view. We booked a park view room but the room allocated (no 119) was at ground level at the back of the hotel and looked out onto steps down to the basement garage, the back of another part of the hotel, a rubble bank and rough round used for casual car parking and a building that looked like an electricity substation.
