Cliffdene Hotel

We stayed for four days on a half board basis whilst on a coach package to the area. The hotel has nice views over the bay,but the hotel is badly in need of a coat of paint on the outside. Whilst there we where told by staff that the hotel has recently changed ownership. The room was ok, a bit on the smallish side but was kept spotlessy clean. Spent four nights at the Cliffdene in early April. Friendly, clean and well situated on the front at Newquay. Five minutes walk from a great Italian Restaurant and ten fron Skinners, a real ale jazz pub. Hotel's only snags were very fixed meal times and rather too solid beds! Menu always had choice of meal - meat/fish/veggie. (Had to order dinner at breakfast time). Reception will order your choice of newspaper. My boyfriend & I ended up staying in this hotel due to the other one (The Gull Rock Hotel - see my other review) being terrible and we're very glad we did. The manager went out of his way to get us a room and must have spent a good half an hour doing so! The hotel was clean and pleasant, the bedroom and ensuite bathroom were fantastic and extremely clean and modern. I don't think I've ever seen bathroom tiles gleam so much! I went on a National Holidays coach tour to the Cliffdene and it was one of the best holidays of my life. The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. I had a super room with sea views and a beautiful ensuite shower which was spotlessly clean and equipped with luxurious towels. The food, both at breakfast and the evening meal was fabulous with a good choice of menu. The decor in the hotel was excellent and the lounge had new, beautiful settees and carpets. We have just spent 3 nights at Cliffdene and were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel, from the management staff to the waitresses in the Restaurant . They were courteous and helpful at all times and the standard of hygiene throughout the hotel was most commendable. An excellent holiday, thank you! Shirley and Anne.
