There is no denying the hotel is situated in a fantastic place and does a decent breakfast, but unfortunately is nothing like described on their website. I must say I give the photographer 10/10 for making the place look something special. Don’t know where they got the word ‘Boutique’ from. Yes the downstairs has been refurbished and looks quite stylish. The family room 212 was not the picture shown on the website and was what I can only call disgusting for £139.00 per night.
The pelmet was falling off over the window. Carpet in the bathroom was filthy. Bath cracked down the side. Headboards stained. Pillowcase ripped. Wardrobe door had the hinge glued back in. THIS DOES NOT WARRANT 3 STARS. Very disappointed! I complained and received £50.00 discount as a good will gesture as the Manager was not available – seems to be a regular occurrence reading other reviews. Should have done my homework before I booked.

Arrived at Scarborough approx 1 pm and went to the Ambassor Hotel to book in for two nights, and ask to for a parking permit. The receptionist advised me the room would not be ready until 3pm. The room cost £119.00 per night for B&B.
After a walk we went back to the hotel at 5.10pm and was given the key for room 116. We booked two evening meals for £21.95 each. When we arrived in the room it had not been cleaned from the previous occupants. I rang reception and the receptionist came up wearing yellow rubber gloves and a cloth 'to wipe round the bathroom'. I pointed out the key card left by previous customers, the rubbish, the towels on bathroom floor and behind the room door; soap was stuck to the bath and used glasses in the sink. Worse still the bed had been covered up with dirty/soiled sheets and pillowcases under the bedspread!!1
The receptionist then brought a cleaner who said she was not responsible for not cleaning the room earlier and agreed the room had not been cleaned. I said I was not happy that I had waited for the room to be cleaned and asked if there was a manager.
A man knocked on the door 5 mins later, I asked if he was the manager and he informed me that he was the duty manager (but didnt give his name). I thanked him for coming up so quickly but explained I was not happy with the room. He stood inside by the door and just kept on shrugging his shoulders and lifting his arms up saying 'well there's nothing I can do about that'! I asked him who was over the cleaners and he said the person over housekeeping was off that day, and that each cleaner was responsible for themselves. I said surely that if a room was not cleaned then as duty manager the responsibility lay with himself. He shrugged his shoulders again saying the same as before saying 'well what can I do about that' I said the least he could have done was introduced himself when he came into the room and apologise. He just stood and stared at me. I said I was looking for an apology at the very least rather than just keep seeing him shrugging his shoulders. He shrugged his shoulders - again- and said he was sorry but he couldnt do anything about the problem, but would see the cleaner the day after. I asked him to look round the room and examine the bed himself, He refused. I said I wanted him to see himself what a mess it was. He walked over to the bed and said 'he had had enough of this' and he didnt have to put up with me complaining any longer and walked toward the door. I said I wasnt going to stay in a dirty room and he went out saying 'whatever' then shut the door on me.!!!

This is a very pretty hotel situated on the cliff tops over looking the bay. Myself, my aunt and my 6 year old son stayed for 2 nights in September.
Our room was pleasant if a little old fashioned with twin beds in the main room and bunk beds in a little downstairs area next to the pleasant bathroom in which toiletries were provided. Breakfast was self service with waiter/waitress service for tea/coffee and toast.
The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice including traditional English, fresh fruits, yogurts and various cereals and fruit juices. The pool area was lovely and despite visiting it on 4 separate occasions during the weekend it was never overly busy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the lovely hotel and would highly recommend it for all and if we were going to Scarborough again it would be my fist choice of hotel.
The only down side could be that it is quite a walk from the main area in Scarborough but this was an added bonus for us as we walked a different way each time we returned to the hotel.

This isn't the first review of this type on here, ( i point you towards "filthy room - rude duty manager" and "opted for a 2 hour drive home..")
I'm just emphasising that you shouldn't be drawn in by the pictures of this place!
The general consensus seems to be that the food is good, but if you have a problem here you're on your own!! That's exactly what I found during my stay.
Terrible Terrible customer service (from the duty manager - I don't want to tar all the staff with the same brush!) Rude, patronising and argumentative, the list goes on.
