Let me start by saying that the position of the hotel was good in the way of restaurants/shops/beach etc (If you have your heart set on going to the area then get down to Fig Tree Bay as it is a lovely beach), the pool/pool area was quite adequate for the price, breakfast... more

Well, first of all i have never written a holiday review but started to look at others when making a booking. One review really put me off this hotel; there was no need to worry. I found it ok and fit for purpose. Yes, rooms are a bit dated (but how much does it cost to... more

Just returned from staying at the Kapetanios and had no problems. Like others have said, the accommodation is basic, but it is clean. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice. Ideal location as at the top end of Protaras - you can walk the length of the main... more

I would not recomment this Hotel, the room we were offered was very small the bathroom you had to close the door to turn around in it. The tiles were cracked around the bath-room, the tiles were dirty, a good bleach would have made a difference. The carpeted bedroom floor... more

Great holiday!!
The Kapetanios bay hotel is great. Our room was basic; quite small, but it suited us fine as we were hardly ever in our room. The brochure stated sky tv - which is true, but the only channels from sky we got were Sky news, and BBC news. We had expected a few more channels but it wasn't a major problem. The room was cleaned everyday with clean towels provided daily too. The swimming pool and area was nice with sunbeds and an eating area. They served a variety of food all day which was great. The hotel is situated right at the top of the... more
Fantastic Family Holiday Hotel
This was our first visit to Cyprus and have loved everything about it. Protaras is a lovely family location with so much on offer. I have always been put off visiting Cyprus with it being branded expensive??? Its no more expensive than, UK, Florida or Spain?? With cocktails a £1 a go who can complain! The hotel is situated next to McDonalds which never even bothered us, right at the begininning of the strip so you can wonder down to the beach past all the lovely bars and restaurants etc. The Water show behind the hotel does get noisy but... more
Good Hotel
The hotel is better than the three star rating it has. The reception/lobby is ver clean and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located at one end of the Protaras Strip. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the other end passing loads of bars, restaurants and shops on the way. The room was cleaned daily and had air conditioning with a lovely pool and sea view balcony. The only let down was the bed linen which is in need of replacing. The decor is average but we didnt spend that much time in the room to be... more
You've got to go just for the Greek/Cypriot people
(From 28th May- 11th June 2006) Kapetanios bay is perfectly situated right behind Mcdonalds at the beginning of the strip in Protaras, it is surrounded by shops, bars, night clubs and beaches. The best beach, Fig Tree Bay is a 15 min walk down the strip, it is the most beautiful for scenery and gorgeous turquiose water , but it gets very busy! The hotel itself was comftable and clean, family run, everyone was so friendly and went out of thier way to help you. We stayed half board, but were not over struck on the food, some days... more
Beware of the location
We were undecided between this hotel and the Loius Ayiuos Elias, and took the latter. We passed the Kap Bay and when we saw the location were very glad we didn't book it. At the front of the hotel block, the view is of a large Macdonalds, to the left (beach side) is a water-to-music display show (not a water park) that was quite loud as we passed by one evening, and one the other side there is a bar made to look Egyptian, with a sphinx on the top. We did not stay here so cannot comment on the hotel, but as we had 2 young kids,... more
Quite good hotel
We have just spent a week at this Hotel. We Stayed B&B.The food was very nice.Pleasently suprised how often the rooms were cleaned. Every day when we were there. The Air con was Free if you want coffe and tea facilities it will cost you £3cyp per Day just for the kettle and cups,And if you want a fridge it wll also cost you £2cyp per day.Protaras itself is really nice and the locals all speak english. If you want a really nice meal visit Romanos this guy is a really nice person and very friendly and the food top notch.A good day out try the... more
Not bad!
I would say this hotel is more Protaras than Paralimini! It is a fairly small and pleasant hotel - staff are nice! We went here on a family holiday, half board. Wasn't that keen on the evening meal, but breakfast was OK. The bbq night was a huge success, really gorgeous food and nice atmosphere (dancing and disco etc). The hotel decor is very dated, but the room was clean yet very basic. Pool area was sufficient enough for us, but don't expect anything posh, that's for sure. Pool area was clean and there is an outside pool... more
protaras great
this is my second year staying in protaras (kapetanios bay hotel) the hotel itself is clean and comfortable, however breakfast is self service and can sometimes be taxing on the nerves. the hotel staff are very helpful and remembering us from the previous year made our second trip very enjoyable. the hotel itself has its regular brits who visit every year. even at the end of the season we found protaras a busy resort, with plenty of lively bars. the beach area is excellent and there is a very good beach bar resturant called the... more
kapetanios bay , protaras
trip advisor from liverpool was right. Protaras needed a facelift and it got one, with all new road and paving, the hotel stands near macdonalds restaurant and the town centre stands on your doorstep so there is no need for a taxi. (saves on cost.) A good hotel of average standards. but if you like a 4star go to the capo bay hotel but be prepared to pay. again the centre is on your doorstep.
really good
I went on holiday to Protaras in 2001, last minute booking on a half board basis. The picture in the brochure looked like a 1970's tower block so I was expecting the worst, but was really suprised by the hotel. Rooms were very comfortable and had air-con and spotlessly clean bathrooms. Breakfast was buffet style & pretty good. Pool wasn't fancy - just the basic rectangle with sunloungers, whereas the more modern hotels had really fancy pools. We used our half board option to take lunch instead of dinner, so I can't comment... more
