Stayed for new year for 1 night. The staff were very nice no issues at all with them. Unfortunately everything else was very bad. The room was dirty, sheets had holes in them. As for late check out couldn't sleep past 7, when people in other room used the bathroom it was so... more

Infact awful. Never again. Staff inattentive and disinterested. Restaurant felt closed when open and I wish it had been. Had to bring own food on 2nd night to survive it.

We stayed here for a night to celebrate a birthday s a treat. We booked a suite. The bedroom area of the suite was well equipped, and contemporary with a large bed and good bathroom facilities. The lounge area of the suite was worn out and we hardly used it. We wouldn’t... more

Couldn't fault it
I have just returned from a 'Pamper Package' weekend at the hotel, and i really could not find a fault! The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing seems to much trouble for them The room was lovely and had everything we needed. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was fine, and the waitress found out it was my birthday and we ended up with a complimentry bottle of wine! Breakfast was good with plenty of choice for everyone. Overall we had a excellent time and shall be returning in the future.
hotel nice staff good but food overrated.
I was booked in here by work and was pleasantly surprised when i arrived. and indeed the reception staff were very welcoming. the room itself was compact but tastefully decorated. there were two main problems. on the first night i went for dinner and ordered the tuna steak medium to well done. however it was as tough as boots and got cold while i waited for my side orders. i was not impressed and did not return for the rest of my stay. my second problem was whe i came back from being on my course to find all the lights on. this annoyed me greatly expecially as they ask for your towels to be reused. not much of an environmentally friendly policy if lights have been left on all day. however, breakfast was very varied and a joy although if you want vegetarian sausages you have to wait ten minutes. and the barmenu nice. two miles up the road there is a lovely restaurant in daresbury called cat o tails. i thoroughly recommend.
Pretty good if it's cool
I've stayed here four times now on business and will probably stay again. Check-in can be a bit chaotic, although they have been training new staff a couple of times. The rooms I've had are clean and have comfortable beds. The food in the restaurant has been just fine - much better than I expected. I've enjoyed the wine too. Service has been a bit patchy, but ok overall. Breakfast has been good - certainly the cooked breakfast. I did see some very dried-up croissants that I would not choose to eat. The only consistent fault is the temperature in some of the rooms. I have not seen aircon in any of them, and on one of my stays the room was very hot indeed with no ability to change rooms. On the other stays, it wasn't too hot outside and there was a draft throught the window. Overall, an enoyable and efficient place to stay - even better if they could add some aircon.
Great staff
Stayed for three nights over May 2007 half term. Our room for four was small - There was no room for a cot, so our little un' slept with us. There are bigger rooms, but these had already been allocated due to an event taking place over the same weekend. Not a problem though, because we wanted to get up and out, and spend as little time in the room as possible. Pool was great and empty. Breakfast was hearty and dinner was very good. We didn't experience the heat problem other reviewers mention, although this could be down to the low outside temperature. Signficantly however there was a fan already installed in our room. Undoubtedly the best aspect of our stay was the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful and exceptional at their work. I simply could not fault them, and they are a credit to the hotel. Definately stay again.
Bright n Airy Hotel with well maintained grounds
The hotel is located in a business park. Not your run of the mill business park but an extremely well manicured park that has been well landscape designed. Nice surroundings for a stroll in the evening. The hotel building is probably less than 15 years old. The lobby is nice and bright due to a glass wall. Its nearly a year since I stayed there but the one minus I remember is that the mini bar (fridge) was missing from my room. Very pleasant stay.
enjoyable pleasant stay
Had a very enjoyable stay for my husbands employers annual party, impressed with food and service, excellent Gym. Bar Food and drinks quite pricey, we will be returning to the looking glass restaurant as we won a meal for two there and would recommend this hotel.
Couldn't fault it
Booked through website and got a very good deal, less than half the direct to hotel booking price. I had stayed at the hotel a few years ago before it was remodelled and before the Business Estate was built. We were visiting Manchester and Chester for three nights, to which this hotel is well sited. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised as most of the staff were English ... rare these days unfortunately! The room was excellent and contrary to other reviews was pleasently warm. The layout requires a map as all corridors look the same. The Leisure centre was excellent, uncrowded and the staff very helpfull .. loaned me a £1 for the locker! The restaraunt was very good with a good menu .. perhaps families with screaming children could be localised. Prices were a little high! Reception staff helpfull with train time tables .. and parking details... well done. Yup ... nice place !
All round good 4*.
We stayed here as we're getting married up the road next year, and using this hotel then, so thought we'd try it out on a Friday night to see what its like. The hotel itself is situated just off the M56 motorway, and is on an industrial estate so not ideal for a romantic getaway! Inside its clean and modern, has a fabulous atrium reception all light and high, and Alice in Wonderland themes running through it. Reception staff were courteous and excellent. We booked through laterooms.com so got a bargain of a room. Our room was clean and our bed was huge, only problem being our door didnt double lock (looks like a problem with fitting new electronic key passes), this didnt bother us as it locked intially! Wandering round the hotel its hard to grasp, there isnt enough signs - or clearly visible signs, so sometimes had the feel of being in a labrynth! The bar/lounge was expensive (its what you expect in a hotel in cheshire) but nice, bar staff were friendly and nice, although they probably needed a few more on as there was a function too that night. The food in the restaurant was slightly overpriced, so we opted for the bar menu, which was lovely! If you're on a budget I suggest a lovely carvery thats just 1 mile up the road towards Warrington! The food was delicious in the bar though and is the same menu as the room service menu. We had a swim and jacuzzi after dinner, the pool was empty which was great! it is small though, they have a beauty salon and treatment areas there too. Breakfast was fab! Buffet choice, with a wide variety on and excellent food. One of the best breakfasts we've had in a hotel yet. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere too, they didnt squash all the guests up into one area so it was easier to serve they spread us about and it felt really nice and relaxed. Checkout was effiecient and fast, reception were again pleasant and couteous. All in all, we had a great stay and cant wait to go back next year to stay before our wedding!
some good some bad
This hotel is situated in the middle of what could be descibed as a Hi-Tech industrial estate, very near the M56 and only 5 minutes from the M6. It is much more a business type hotel. I did not feel too comfortable as a holiday maker and felt that perhaps i should have brought a suit to wear when in the reception or restaurant. The room was smaller than I would have expected but was nicely furnished and clean the only problem was the heat, the weather outside was much cooler but the heat in the room was unbearable. after mentioning it at reception they opened the window to its full extent, this plus a fan did not reduce the heat at all. After trying to sleep in what resembled a sauna we had to ask to be moved. The receptionist was extremely helpfull and checked us into a larger and cooler room. There was a large quantity of food available at breakfast but the quality could have been a bit better the eggs are deep fried and the sausages were almost raw one morning, there is a good variety of fruit but iots of it is tinned. The toast was cold and the service poor. Sorry This seems like a moan rather than just a few points as overall there are lots of good things about this hotel, the leisure centre and pool are excellent, there is lots of privacy and the grounds are lovely. Parking is easy (could not use this hotel without a car). There is a very good pub / restaurant 1 mile away in Daresbury called Ring o Bells. overall I would be unlikely to book again for a holiday break but would come back for an overnight stay if flying from Manchester or Liverpool. One other concern was that the heat in the corridors was stifling and to try to alleviate this they jammed open the Fire Doors.
disappointing
My wife and i have just returned from a two day break at this hotel. It was booked as part of our wedding anniversary celebrations and I had rang ahead to the hotel to a_upgrade the room and b_have some surprises waiting in the room (wines chocolates, fresh fruit) for my wife when we arived after a long hot drive from the north east of england.Well things started to go wrong as soon as we walked into the room none of the "extras " were in evidence which ruined any surprise there could have been and as for the room well if this was an upgrade id hate to see the standard rooms!.The room was small and whilst modern the bathroom had a musty stale smell in it.The mini bar consisted of a fridge with a bottle of water in it.After a quick trip back to reception to point out the mistakes made we went down to Chester which was lovely(this also gave the staff time to make good their errors ).When we got back the extras had arrived. The fruit consisted of two (yes two) apples on a plate wrapped in cellophane with a miniscule box of Bendicks chocolates. The wine was one tiny bottle of red enough for a glass and one tiny bottle of white once again about enough for a glass. To say these extras were pathetic would be unfair they were a total and utter let down. The best was saved for the following morning though. The wrong newspaper turned up and then upon leaving the room I had occasion to chat to one of the maids who had in her possesion a large master sheet which stated we had only booked in for ONE night.I feel it was lucky i spotted the maid otherwise we may have returned later to find our room booked out to someone else!!.On each occasion these concerns were raised at reception the staff were unfailingly polite and apologetic but the bottom line is if they promise things they should deliver and also it would help if different departments in the hotel spoke to each other. We can also vouch for the heat in the hotel certain but not all corridors are extremely warm and you have to wonder what the rooms must be like off those corridors. The breakfast food wise was very good though although once again this was spoilt by dirty crockery (on both mornings) and disinterested or apathetic staff in the dining room. Finally this morning upon checking out i discovered we had been charged wrongly for items and once again the lack of communication between hotel departments was evident. It may seem from this review that the hotel is rubbish well we wouldnt go that far but it certainly put a dampener on our anniversary and we will remember the Daresbury Park for all the wrong reasons.
