fantastic wedding day
We had our wedding reception at mere court on nov 28th 09. we had a brilliant day. The room looked absolutely gorgeous. We were an hour and a half late sitting down to the meal due to me being late for the church and the hotel just coped with it. The food was excellent everyone commented on it. The manager who looked after us i think he was called yas or something he was brilliant couldnt do enough for us. It is a littel bit pricey but i do think you get what you pay for. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for there wedding day. AWESOME. I
Very friendly, fantastic room and great value
Late availability room. Pleasant reception service when booking and checking in. Advised when booking of DBB offer option at only £20 total extra for both of us. What value! Food & service was excellent. The room was faultless - huge comfortable bed, tastefully decorated and furnished, large sitting area, fantastic bathroom, and everywhere spotlessly clean. The room was called the Sandringham, and was quiet, overlooking the gardens, and full of character. Service all through the hotel was very friendly, and all the public areas... more

Does what it says on the tin
Booked a 1 nighter through laterooms.com and got a great deal £165 room for £80. Hotel is oldie worldie and has plenty of dark wood, which adds to its charm.....this isn't a chrome & glass hotel. Valet service is available if needed. Room was spacious which a huge bed, very clean complete which Sky sports channels. Staff would always say hello if they passed you in the corridor, I found them very courteous & helpful. The 'Lake' is a slight contradictory but nevertheless very charming. I would recommend Mere Court to family & friends.... more

Fabulous wedding venue
Had our wedding at Mere Court in April. The venue is a fabulous place to hold your wedding reception. The food, service, hotel, staff and whole experience was amazing. Beware thought if you just plan to visit on a weekend night in wedding season, you will most probably be swamped with wedding guests!

Many thanks for your great review, I am pleased that you had such a wonderful wedding. We look forward to welcoming you back to Mere Court, perhaps for an anniversary celebration!

Substandard and unsuitable for disabled
Needing to stay overnight in this area we found details of a number of hotels via the internet. I telephone Mere Court and asked if the had a room available that was accessible by wheelchair. The hotel confirmed that they did have such a room available, and I booked the room – paying a £20 non-refundable deposit by credit card. The following afternoon, we arrived at the hotel and on checking in were told that we would need assistance to get to my wife in her wheelchair to our room as there were steps between the reception and our... more
Bill Clinton stayed in our room apparently
Stayed here because I needed somewhere to stay en route to the motorway the following day. There is a plaque on the wall in the room we stayed in saying that Bill Clinton stayed here. There was a large jacuzzi bath (but my boyfriend had to fix one of the bubble jet nozzles) and a four poster bed. The room was on the large size and had a couple of chairs and tables and a large bay window. It is in a nice location but not that nice - I understand people get married here, maybe it looks nicer in mid summer!
Comfortable hotel but...
The hotel publicity made a big thing about their Lakeside Rooms. And it was a nice big room, warmly decorated, well furnished with a comfortable king bed. But it was very dark, thanks to big trees next to the window, and had a stunning view of the rubbish bins and hotel yard. The "lake" (more a pond) was on the other side. And the bathroom was tiny and very grey with too much mould. Getting to the Lakeside Roms involved a walk past the conference centre, the cold corridors piled with metal coat racks and stuff from the meeting rooms.... more
A real surprising disappointment
Booked here to attend a wedding held locally in the hope of escaping to some peace and quiet. On the surface the Hotel looks well presented - it is set in some small but well tended grounds just off of a very busy road. Inside the rooms are small but tidy - the Hotel seems to have wanted to squeeze in as many rooms as possible at the expense of a decent bathroom and overall pretty disappointing for the cost. Impressions of the Hotel deteriorated. It was not too busy on arrival but it was clear from Dinner that things were a little bit... more
Amazing, felt like a Princess!
My boyfriend took me to Mere Court to get away from it all for my 21st birthday and it was pure luxury! It was a beautiful building (Grade 2 Listed I think) and the gardens were pretty and well-kept - Perfect for an after dinner stroll. We stayed in the Presidential Suite and there's a plaque on the wall stating that President Bill Clinton stayed in this room during a visit to the UK. The room is quite Jacobean in style which makes a brilliant change from the usual ultra-modern style in most top class hotels, so it feels more inviting... more
A great night away from busy work life...
I had the pleasure to stay at the Mere Court hotel several times on business during 2005. What it lacks in facilities such as a pool or health club it more than makes up for in its setting, food and good old fashioned customer care. The rooms are traditionally appointed, spacious and you do not feel that in any way you are 'boxed in'. It was also 30% cheaper than several nearby chainstore type hotels that do not half the character Mere Court has.
