Great location

It is a very smart hotel with the reception staff very friendly.I would stay there again it was very central and you dont need a car to get around, the rooms are a nice size and i can not think of anything I would change. We ate in the restautrant and the food was very good I do highly recommend this hotel to any one .
1st floor nice, 4th floor awful
from borisy
This hotel is very good location. Close to Broadmead, City Centre and Bristol Bridge... I booked a single room for £59 from their website. I was initially given a room on the 1st floor. It was a nice room, with a double bed, classical decoration as you expect from Thistle's. The bathroom is big and adequate. No mini bar tho. I had to extend my stay later so they had to put me to another room as the hotel was almost fully booked. It was a small single room on the 4th floor. Really tiny. The floor both in the room and hall made a lot of noise when people walked. It was very difficult to sleep. I paid the same rate but the experience was totally different. In general breakfast is really poor if you don't like English Breakfast. Really small selection. I asked for bread and they brought burger buns for breakfast. You pay £10 for 24 hour wifi in the rooms by the way.
Super staff

I was staying here with friends for my hen weekend and enjoyed the stay very much. The staff here are brilliant, there were some hiccups during our stay but they did everything to ammend them. First we were given a large room which would accomodate 3 people (disabled facilities) and my friends were given a suite so we were close together. On the second day we were asked if we wouldn't mind changing our room because of a disabled guest which had arrived. We were given a deluxe suite similar to our friends with an extra bed. We were also given champagne and food as a thank you for us changing rooms. There was also a fire alarm which woke us at 3am where everyone had to stand outside in the rain. We didn't wait too long but did remember some guests given the hotel staff some grief about it. But surely it is much better to be outside at 3 am rather than being at risk of a fire!! Anyway a letter of apology was sent to our rooms later that morning. The staff here clearly work hard and do everything in their power to help. The restaurant and the leisure facilities were also very good. The hotel is well located and I definitely reccommend this hotel.
Great Value

I have just returned home after a week in Bristol where I stayed at the Thistle Hotel. My stay was so pleasant that I thought it was worth a mention to others looking for accommodation in Bristol's city centre. From the moment I arrived, I found all members of staff, including the manager, to be friendly, polite, extremely efficient and professional which continued throughout the duration of my stay. Also worth a mention, is the food; I enjoyed the quality of the meals so much that I dined in the resaurant for all bar one evening of my visit where not only I, but several of my colleagues commented on the standard and presentation of all the meals too. I have stayed in many hotels across the globe and it was the first time that a manager of a UK hotel interacted so positively with many of guests and expressed a real interest in feedback from them. Thank you Mark, and please pass on my gratitude to all members of your staff for such a memorable stay.
What A Fab City...
from Moncurka
I stayed at the Thistle at the end of May so me and some girl friends could go out to paint the town red. Wow what a hotel. This hotel is in need of some extra money spending on it, however that did not detract from the fantastic service and facilities, and the nice bit was that although it is old, they have not done what a lot of hotels do and used it as an excuse to be dirty. Our rooms were all clean, the staff actually smiled, breakfast was hot and the swimming pool was great. I would reccomend this hotel to everyone that has got any real standards and appreciates good service over a freshly painted wall.
Superb Location, Excellent experience
from WalesRachel
My partner and i stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. On arrival the reception team gave us a very warm welcome and couldn't help us enough. We had a superior double which was excellent. The room was very clean and was looked after very well. This hotel has a lovely health spar which was great as we came away to relax and have a break from our busy lifestyle. We both relaxed in the hands of their trained staff and enjoyed a full body massage. Breakfast was very good. They had a range of food that would suit all.The service was very professional and they were happy to help. The location of this hotel is great, very handy for going out in the town or just to relax and use the facilities that they are offering. My partner and i would recommend Thistle Bristol to everyone, they have a lovely team and offer a great service.
Handy for town
from jru100
The room was a bit cosy for a twin, especially with two chaps sharing. It was pretty warm overnight without any air con. The bathroom could have been cleaner, but the rest of the room was OK. The best point was the Thistle's central location, very handy for going out in the city centre. The hotel has its own car park (£7.50/night) right next door, shared with the health club, which you can use for free, but I didn't. Breakfast was served until late on the w/e, very handy if you're enjoying Bristol's night life. The selection was good but service for tea & toast etc. was slow. Checkout was also a relaxed midday. The hotel bar is in the basement, smelt pretty dank and was pricey, so not really worth using for more than a meeting point.

Very impressed with the Victorian style building. The rooms are also as impressive. Range of rooms from standard to executive rooms, suites, and studios. Our company put us up in a premier room. For this we got a large room with a 37" TV, sofa, plus bathrobes, slippers and... more
