Mother Iveys Bay Holiday Park
, St MerrynMother Iveys Bay Holiday Park reviews
Nice site but at £26 a night for a standard pitch it should be. Not really quite worth it though. The beach is a bonus but the 'Paddock' field is very windy and can blow tents away. They won't mention this fact when they take your block booking although they will when they refuse you a refund for any nights you haven't stayed.

I've been going to this site with my family for a few years and it's been a dream. It's a lovely spot, partly because of the beach :)
The atmosphere on the site is quiet but still family-friendly, and it is always well maintained and clean. Thankfully, there is no clubhouse, no bingo and no butlins entertainment so evenings are just as peaceful as you'd want them to be. Most people pop down to padstow in the evening anyway as it's so close to the site.
The prices for renting statics are steep, but i'm sorely tempted to say you get what you payed for. This is probably because a huge portion of the statics on the site are privately owned, so a good idea is to try to get hold of those owners who rent out. Make sure you book early, as i've found it's more popular than i'd like.

Lovely camp site, but we feel it is getting very expensive for what it is. They insist on leaving a lot of empty pitches just in case, but in the last 8 years that we have been going, they have never been used.
No real faults with the site. But the price goes up and nothing goes back into the site. This year they got an extra star rating.

With its beautiful views across the sea, close proximity to the beach, top quality facilities, and helpful staff, really, what more could you ask. We only stayed a few days, but I got the impression that nothing was too much trouble. Their attention to detail was spot on, and I can't recommend it enough.
We used one of the many electricity hook up points that are available, and the staff helped us without question (we had not done it before!). They let us choose our own pitch (it was out of season, you probably won't get to do this when they are busy) and we kind and patient with me when I had to go back to the car to get my forgotten purse (doh!).
The beach is clean, huge and not too busy, but again, it was the off season.
One point that some people may not like is the fact that there isn't a club house, but hey, no loud music blasting out til midnight, no roudy drunks trying to find their tents, I fail to see the downside!!!!
Try it, I know you'll love it!

Just got back from 8 days on a fully serviced touring pitch on Mother Iveys.(Cost £34per night plus dog charge)
We first visited this site in 1991 with an old decrepid Monza tourer. It lashed down with rain and after a few miserable days we gave up and went home,as a non electric caravan with basic facilities and two large soggy labradors are not condusive to comfortable living! Only a bottle of scotch and a radio kept us going! However, we rented a static for a week the following September as it looked such a lovely quiet site. Ok, I'm getting to the point! Our week that September sold us forever on this site. The weather was beautiful and we had a wonderful holiday, so much that the following year we purchased a static caravan there.
We had 5 super years of hols and saw the site develop, with all the old caravans on the north side of the site going. We were forced to sell up through financial reasons ie loss of a job, but mourned its loss as did my daughter and her fiancee who fancied himself as a surfer and they spent as much time there as we did - jobs allowing.
We spent the next 11 years travelling the world but everywhere we went as were on a beach- Hawaii included! my comments were always the same- " its nice , but I still think Mother Iveys bay takes some beating! it just needed the same temperatures as Hawaii but sometimes its scorching down there.
We are retired now and back with a tourer! can't afford the long hauls any more! We have 'done the southwest' over the last few years touring, and we keep coming back to the fact that - yes mother iveys is pricey, but you get what you pay for. We can park up there and get complete relaxation. Loads of walks either with or without dogs ( Doggy charge a bit pricey also ) Choice of beaches, and near Padstow ( if you like this new improved Padstow! liked it better before it was famous! ) near Truro for some retail therapy and near loads of other less frequented beaches. The site is now super tidy and laid out well. If you like a beach holiday with walks, views, ambiant surroundings, no pub- one in st Merryn if you feel the need- no clubs or such like then this is the place. The kids ride round on their bikes enjoying themselves safely- we were laughing at them this last week as they were still going in the sea although it was turning them goosey! Good shop, (try the pasties), super laundrette. My husband an I have decided on our slow ride home at 60mph that its the best in the southwest and we've tried a few!
ps the dog loves it - he'll sleep for a week when he gets back.
