What a wonderful holiday. The Neptune was great. The food and the service were both exceptional. As a lone traveller, I felt safe and looked after without any pressure. The people were so polite and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and clean with lovely views over the hotel grounds and pool and the Indian ocean! The food was really cosmopolitan - something for all tastes!! Every night there was local entertainment and the Sri Lankan ballet was breathtaking!
I enjoyed some super trips arranged by Cosmos and from the Beach Boys - which ranged from the interesting to the spectacular. I really enjoyed my tuk tuk journeys too.

We had a brilliant time at the Neptune hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The rooms were in the process of being repainted and soft new towels and sheets arrived during our stay. We enjoyed the food especially the delicious soups. There was always a good selection of fresh fruit too. The animation team tried hard to make the daytime entertainment enjoyable for all who wanted to join in.
It is worthwhile going on trips with the beach boys. Our favourite was Lokka. He is helpful and learning more English every day. Remember- Look for Lokka.

Hotel Neptune is great value for a 3*, staff are very helpful, nothing too much trouble, even brought some Aloe Vera plant from their garden to sooth my sun burn!
Animators are good fun, not too pushy if you don't want to join in. Food was good and varied. Great homemade soup every lunch and dinner time.
Rooms a little tired but did not spoil a great holiday, lounging on a sun bed or going on a tour with the 'boys' from the beach (see Syd) it was fantastic.
Benny was a good driver and had a great sense of humour taking us around Yala National Park with a guide. O’Neil was also very good on the trip to the elephant orphanage.
Concerns about the monsoon weather were unfounded as were the terrorist problems which apart from check points we had no problems at all.
If you want clothes made to measure try Pali on the beach. Turn right on the beach and Pali is on the right hand side. Tell him Linda sent you!
This was a holiday we will not forget and would love to go back to the Neptune.

What can I say? The hotel was set out lovely, the food was great.
The room was cleaned every day and your bed turned down every night.
I would highly recommend the beach boys (syd) they were great at getting any thing you needed.
We went on a 2 day trip to Kandy to see the elephants. We stayed at a top hotel and was taken on some other sights and all for £55 pounds each well worth it.
We felt safe at all times with the boys from the beach. We are planning to go back to the Neptune next year.

This hotel is right on a lovely clean beach. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help.
The food was excellent - they have different themed nights so the food never got boring. Great buffet selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner with chips/pizza and cake available during the day. Good sized clean swimming pool and lovely grounds. Rooms are clean and spacious and they all look over the pool/sea.
We got married at this hotel and had a wonderful memorable day and hope to return in the not too distant future.

The food is good quality but limited in variety, by the 2nd week we were more than fed up of curry. Alot of the food is spicy but there is a snack bar if you fancy something different. The drinks were very poor for an all inclusive, basically just coke, fanta and beer - no cocktails and other mixers.
Hotel rooms were clean, but very basic beware of paper thin walls. We went during the new year celebrations and our neighbouring sri lankans were up talking til 4am every night. The hotel was happy to give us a better room. Tip - there are lots of different rooms of differing quality side rooms have a better bathroom and kingsize beds with memory foam mattresses.
You will get hassled on the beach but a polite no, usually does the trick. We found that the staff expected regular tips and if you didn't give them you got ignored while they served the tipping guests. Personally, I do not feel that you need to tip all day everyday for an all inclusive resort.
If you want a cheap and cheerful holiday and get a bargain then go for it but we paid £1800 and this was not worth it at all!
